[MD2, 11:15 a.m., Dr. Noonan's House]

>>As they came up to his front porch, however, they noticed that the front door was open slightly. Kate unholstered her gun, and seeing that September had done so as well, pushed the door open.

Kate was the first one inside. It was a large house with plenty of room for persons to hide. Barely audible, September said, "I'll take the upstairs."

Kate nodded in agreement and began searching the downstairs section of the house. September slowly climbed the stairs leading to the second level of the house. With her gun in her hand, back to the wall, and adrenaline pumping, she ascended the staircase. She searched the entire upstairs. She walked back downstairs with her gun to her side. Kate walked around the corner.

"Anything?" September asked.

"No, nothing. That's odd because nothing is out of place."

"I doubt it if he just left the front door open. Whoever broke in here knew what they were looking for." September scrunched her face pondering.

"What is it?" Kate asked.

"Probably nothing, but something just doesn't feel right to me."

"Me neither. We better get up to the park and meet the others. Maybe they've pieced something together. We're just running into roadblocks."

"What about Agent Cohen?"

"Someone obviously put him into that coma. Last night he was nowhere near the condition he's in now. I want to check on the Ranger that rode with him in the ambulance last night, Ranger Docker. No one seems to know who he is.

"What about Dr. Noonan?"

"I'll contact the police. Right now, he's just a missing person. This is a small town, maybe the Sheriff knows where he's at."

"How would the Sheriff know that?"

"You'd be surprised how much people talk in a small town. You can barely breathe without someone looking over your shoulder."

"Okay, let's go." The two agents walk out of the house and down the pathway to the car.

>>Around the corner from the house, unseen by the agents, a gray Taurus pulled away from the curb.

September and Kate got in the car and Kate drove off. Kate positioned the rearview mirror to get a better look at the road behind her when she saw the grey Taurus. September called the police and informed him that Dr. Noonan was missing and needed to be found for questioning regarding the condition of Agent Cohen.

"We have company. They're right behind us." September pulled down the visor on her side of the car, looked in the mirror and saw the grey taurus following them.

"What are you going to do?"

"Watch, hold on September."

Kate slammed on the brakes and spun the car around head into the path of the grey taurus. She turned the car hard, cutting off their path. The driver of the taurus put the car in reverse and drove backwards down the street and around a corner. He put the car in drive and fled up the street with Kate on their tail.

"I got the license, I'm calling it in. This is Agent Foster with the FBI, I need registration information on a grey taurus with D.C. plates." September gave all of the pertinent information to the Sheriff and told him to call her back right away.

Kate drove down the street still following the taurus. Just then a ball rolled out into the street and right behind it was a small child, smiling, trying to reach his ball. Walking into the street to get his ball, right in the path of . . .

"Look out!" September screamed.

Kate slammed on the brakes, missing the child. The two agents jumped out of the car toward the child. In the background, a woman came running out of the house, screaming, waving her hands, running towards her son.

"Ma'am he's okay. We're federal agents." Kate said whipping out her badge. "He's okay, aren't you young man," she said kneeling down to the child.

"I'm okay. I'm 4 years old.", the little boy said holding up three fingers crooked to the side.

Kate patted him on the head and smiled, she then stood up and watched as the mother with child in tow, walked back to the house.

September's cell phone rang. "Foster. Uh, huh . . . okay . . . thanks, I'll get back to you."

"What's up?"

"Well, Dr. Noonan hasn't been seen since last night when Agent Cohen checked in and the license plate of the taurus is registered to the government".

"But the plates weren't government plates."

"I know, but whoever was driving that car is working for the government."
