"I know what happened is... difficult to cope with, indeed, but I need your help in order to get him back to you. Can you tell me if you heard any weird noise last night?

-No. I've slept well, and nobody entered the cabin, I think, so what kind of noise should have I heard?

-And you saw no one in the surroundings yesterday evening?

-Not that I remember. A ranger came, but no one else.

-And you're sure your son can't have left by himself?

-WHY and HOW would have he left? Nonsense... Well, there's nothing I can tell you about it. We've noticed nothing going on tonight. I hadn't slept as well as I did for a while, if you really want to know. The maid said she's seen something, but what she told us was... ludicrous, I'd say. I don't think it's worth asking her about it.
