MD: Day 2, 4.25 PM, In the forest watching Unit DELTA
Jacob watched from afar, as he had been for quite some time now. His superiors had not been happy that his initial attempts to contact Unit Delta had been unsuccessful. They had left the group open to detection, whch was exactly what they were trying to avoid. The recent upheaval in DELTA had made it impossible to approach prior to this moment, but their recently found stability had prompted the decision for him to make another attempt. He had spent months watching this team, and had closely examined the progress they had made. They had gelled well as a group, and were continuing to progress in their abilities. It was for this reason that Docker had been focussed on them, to complicate their case and make life difficult. There were groups involved that the Bureau team was unaware of, fighting a desperate battle to reveal and cover up what was occuring. This discovery would put a true wrench into the plans
of the group, if it were revealed by DELTA. They were so close, and that was why Docker had been moved in.
As he watched the group, he mentally worked through the information he had on them. He'd made a firm decision on whom he would contact. Both in terms of authority and capability, Kathryn Calloway had
proven herself. Starting as a junior member of the team herself, she'd been thrust into leadership through circumstance, and had flourished in that role. She had managed to build a strong team out of the embers of near disaster. She was exactly the one that would be appropriate. Of course, it would be challenging to convince her that he was not in league with Docker, or another of the group Docker was with. But, that was a challenge he would face, and one he hoped he could overcome.
Jacob was revived from his thoughts by one, then a second and a third explosion. He rapidly followed the course back to their origin, and could make out Docker, leering giddily as the flames took hold of the
building. However, his enjoyment vanished when he realised that one of the canisters had caused a back burn, which was spreading rapidly through the upper branches of the trees back in his direction. Oh well, so much for total enjoyment, thought Docker as he slid from the branches and headed through the forest, looking for another vantage point. Jacob tracked him, his years of training coming to the surface. Docker examined the situation, noted the billowing plume being created by the burning fire and turned, thwarted once again. The risk was too great to remain. He would finish this at a later stage, if, by some freak luck, the agents managed to escape that inferno.
Jacob returned his attention to the building, which was now well alight. The chemicals within that building made it a varitable time bomb. There were only the two doors to the complex, but the material
of the building would make his plan quite easy to achieve. Opening the ruck sack he had with him, he looked at it's content, and found what he was looking for. A small charge on one of the doors should
be enough to rectify the entry problem. When out of exits, create a new one. He darted out of the forest, sure that Docker had left the area, then attached the charge. He set the timer for 20 seconds, then darted deep into the forest. He had other things to do.
As he worked his way back down the path, he appeared like any other person hiking in that forest. There was no indication of a connection, or the equipment held within his rucksack. But, a barely perceptible smile crossed his lips as he heard the explosion, and could tell from the sounds that it had created an opening. It was up to Delta to get out of the building. And now, to plant the seed to get things rolling. Docker was not monitoring the cabins at that moment, which gave him the break he was looking for. Docker would have doubled back toward the building when he'd heard the explosion, to admire his handy work, believing the battle with DELTA was over. It was the window of opportunity he needed.
Jacob went to the car Kate had used throughout. He carefully prepared the note, having been trained to disguise his writing. He slipped it into an envelope addressed to Kate, then inside the vehicle, then vanished. The note read:
Docker tried to incinerate your team. Unfortunately for him, a small explosion created a new doorway. You have an ally, who can help you with valuable information. But, you have to trust, just as you trust your boys. And, as you are starting to trust Josh Peters. My sources and information can even the playing field.
Alone. 8pm. The children's playground. ALONE!
