>>September came in with a couple coffee cups. "It might be a long afternoon,", she said, putting one of the cups on Kate's desk. "He's not here?"
"Just left for the police station."
"Good. I've been thinking. I think the connection has to be somewhere on the medical end. Whoever is running the project wouldn't want just anyone to bear these children. They would make sure that the mothers are healthy and able to carry the babies to term."
Flynn and Sharlyn came in while September was talking. "That makes sense," Flynn said. "But there are a dozen different doctors."
"Doesn't matter," September went on. "As I see it, there are three possibilities. Someone from a temp service, an insurance agency or a medical transcriptionist."
Kate nodded, "It's a place to start. Where's Newt?"
"He left something in the car," Sharlyn said. "He said he'd be right back."
"Oh", Kate said. "Well, anyway, I think September might be on to something. Sharlyn, lend her a hand on the phones.<<
Miami was a big city, and there weren't that many temp services and medical transcriptionist agencies. However, the list of insurance agencies was mind-blowing.
"This is going to take all day.", Sharlyn said, sitting down and cracking her knuckles.
"Well, it's after 4:00 P.M. and most places should be closing at about 6:00P.M. We better get started." September and Sharlyn called all of the agencies that were listed and within an hour had compiled a list of possibilities.

Kate sat across the room. She was tired from reading over files. She stood up, rubbed her temples and took a sip of her coffee that was now cold and bitter. Stretching her aching back, she walked over to September and Sharlyn.
"Did you find anything?", Kate asked.
Letting out a heavy sigh, removing her reading glasses, and rubbing her eyes, September began to go over all of the possibilities.
"Kate, you're not going to believe what we found. The only real lead was the "Minuteman Transcriptionists" which doubles as a medical transcriptionist agency and temporary service agency. One of their clients is Memorial Medical Center. They provide the hospital with freelance medical transcriptionists, as well as temporary word processing help. I cross checked Minuteman with several insurance agencies to see if I could get a match."
"You got a hit didn't you?", Kate asked trying to mask a grin.
"Yes, but that's not all. We cross checked Memorial Hospital and I also got a match. It seems that General Indemnity Insurance Company provides insurance for both, Minuteman and Memorial."
"Incredible", Kate said.
"Maybe General Indemnity supplies accident, unemployment and workman's compensation insurance to Minuteman to look legitimate on the books, but in reality Minuteman is supplying the insurance company with names of patients. After all, if they type up hospital records, doctor's notes, nurse's notes, etc. for the hospital, they're privy to just about the entire patient's medical history. The insurance company then contacts the hospital with the names of these patients, and then contacts the people associated with the project, who then makes plans for the rape."
Sharlyn interjected, "That way, the hospital doesn't look suspicious contacting the insurance company, giving out confidential information on patients. If Minuteman gives out information, who's going to notice or even care?"
"This is sick", September said, her stomach churning at the thought of the meticulously planned rape of dozens of women.
"The problem is that we have no proof. Unless I can get access to the hospital's computers. I know I could find some hard evidence", September said, watching Kate, who obviously was preoccupied.
"Kate?", September asked again.
"Yes?"
"You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm with you. I was just thinking. I got a call from Newt a little while ago and he's with Paul. Paul had an appointment with the sketch artists at 5:00 P.M. I want to wait until Newt gets back with his report before we do anything."
"Why are Paul and Newt together?", September asked puzzled. She then turned and looked at Sharlyn, who also had a confused look.
"I think Newt can handle himself. But, I just want to make sure that we're all on the same page. I don't want the team to be split on this case.", Kate said
"It could take hours getting each victim to describe the rapist. How about we get something to eat and discuss our game plan? Anyone here hungry?", September asked.
