Newt
***

In the time since the last mission, Newt had taken some time to do a little redecorating on his apartment. A new dining room table .. new tablecloth, dishes and mats. Something to make it look more homey. Not that he'd had much cause to spend much time here .. but it was still nice to have someplace warm to come home to.

He was feeling bad about the rout the team had taken this last mission. They'd sort of lost their footing for a while, and it had cost Sharlyn her life. Now she was gone, and Flynn .. and Kate. Though they might come back .. who knew.

A 'little break', they said. Everyone needed a break, but Newt had not yet accumulated any vacation time, so he was stuck in DC doing paperwork and odd jobs, while he waited for Delta to be assigned another mission.

Thankfully, September had not taken off either, so the office didn't seem so empty when he went in. They talked, and laughed and kept busy as they pretended to have enough to do in the interim between missions.

That's why the morning that Agent Henrickson appeared, they gladly embraced her presence.

"Hello, I'm Agent Henrikson, am I.... I am in the right place-"

Newt looked up at this stranger, not sure what do to. No one had mentioned that anyone new was coming. But that never seemed to stop them before ..

"I'm being assigned to team DELTA, or so I'm led to believe," she added.

Newt nodded, "Then you are in the right place. This is what's left of Team Delta for the moment."

"Just the two of you?" the woman asked.

Newt nodded, "For now, vacations and what not you know." She nodded and he continued. "I'm Agent Prescott; you can call me Newt."

"Nice to meet you Newt, I'm Leanna."

"Agent September Foster," September said stepping forward and holding out her hand.

Leanna took it and then the three stared at each other awkward silence for a moment. There really wasn't anything pressing to do around the office .. nothing to show Leanna. Newt feared they were going to just be sitting in the office twiddling their thumbs for the rest of the afternoon.

But September saved the day. "How about some team building."

"What?" Newt asked.

"Team building. We're going to be a team. We should start working on getting to know Leanna hare so we can work together. I think that's a logical thing to do."

"Sounds good to me," Leanna nodded; her bright blue eyes smiling.

Newt shrugged, "Better then sitting around here doing nothing. So where are we going?"

"How about Lunch first. I'm starving."

Newt grinned, "Now there's something I can get into!"
