Quantum Leap Books & Videos and Stuff...

Although it was rumoured that "Foreknowledge" was to be the final book in the series, it looks as though this isn't true. "Song and Dance" by Mindy Peterman is due to be released sometime in September '98. Here's a preview: "1978: Time-tripping Sam Beckett has leaped into Noah Ellman, son of a former borscht-belt dancer who's just days away from realizing her dreams of stardom." IT'S OUT NOW!! BUY IT!

The two books by Julie Robitaille listed here were published in the UK only and are actually novelisations. The first is of the pilot episode ("Genesis") and the second book collects both "Play it Again, Seymour" and "A Portrait For Troian". They are also the only two QL books written wholly in Sam's perspective.

Listed below are all the novels currently available; they can be bought in the UK from places such as Forbidden Planet and the excellent Sheffield Space Centre. Many comic shops have them too. Please note, the ISBN numbers from "The Beginning" to "Odyssey" are for the UK Boxtree published books and from "Independence" onwards, the ISBN s are for the US books (as "Odyssey" was the last QL novel published in the UK due to poor sales). The first 'all new original novel' was "Carny Knowledge" or "QL: The Novel" (as it was published in the US).

In the US, the QL books were published by Ace and then under the Boulevard heading (a subdivision of The Berkley Publishing Group), whilst it was only Boxtree in the UK which published QL novels.

These books and all of the videos and also the pins and from time to time some of the T -Shirts are available from Sheffield Space Centre in the UK

There are a few other notable books:

"The Making of Quantum Leap" by Hal Schuster, published by HarperCollins (edited and updated version of the out of print book "Making a Quantum Leap" by Scott Nance)

This book in my opinion, is not very good. Most of the material in the book can be found on the web in numerous sites but, it must be bought as it is about QL and that is all that matters.

Note: This book is only available in the US and a few specialist book shops in the UK.

"The Quantum Leap Book" by Louis Chunovic, published in the US by ???? and in the UK by Boxtree (The update "The Complete Quantum Leap" includes season 5)

Both of these are very good and the (albeit few) design sketches and the behind the scenes information makes for very good reading, a good buy. Be warned: this book is big, like an oversized paperback.

"The A-Z of Quantum Leap" by Julie Barratt, published in the US by ???? and in the UK by Boxtree

I like this book too, even though the UK Boxtree version has a few more typos than the US edition. It's very extensive and is very good for brushing up your QL knowledge on.

Thats all the books, now on to the rest!!

In the UK and the US a number of selected episodes were released on videotape:

The Pilot Episode

The Color of Truth / Camikazi Kid

The Americanization of Machiko / What Price Gloria?

The Leap Home, Parts I and II

Shock Theater / Dreams

A few T-Shirts have also appeared:

OH [Quantum Leap] BOY! with the saga cell on the back

Sam Leaping for the first time

Cartoony Sam surrounded by orange/green light, waving smugly

Big pic of Admiral Al

There has been a CD and cassette released by GNP/Crescendo Records:

Quantum Leap: Music from the Television Series This includes some great music such as the "Man of La Mancha Medley" and SB singing "Imagine" (from "The Leap Home, Part I" and "Fates Wide Wheel" from "Glitter Rock" There was also a single from this album released of SB singing "Somewhere in the Night" which is really cool.

There are LOADS of photos which can be purchased in loads of places, and a few postcards. At one time, a QL mug was available as was a poster, and QL comics published by Innovation (13 in total I think although #13 was a reissue of #1 with pics from a QL Convention). A new series of comics was going to be published by Acclaim, including one story called "The Leaper Before" about another Leaper but I'm not too sure about whats happening with that and .....thats about it I think, if you do know of anything else, feel free to email me and I'll credit you in the next update.
