Harold was born in Sheeptown, Carroll County, VA. He worked in the coal mines in War, McDowell County, West Virginia, where all of his children were born. Harold moved his family to Cincinnatti area of Ohio where he worked in a Ford Motor Company assembly plant until retiring. Harold had Alzheimer disease and spent his last few years in a nuring home. Nothing is known about Goldie. Harold and Goldie both died in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.

Harold and Goldie's only known children are:
1. Janice (21-Mar-1944),
2. Connie Ann (10-Sep-1946),
3. Harold Robert Jr. (born and died the same day in 1951),
4. John Thomas (1-Feb-1952), and
5. Randy (5-Feb-1954).
