Mattie or Stella is called Betsy. The story is that her mother wanted to name her Stella but her father put Mattie on the birth certificate. Mattie was the name of her father's mother.

Betsy attended Pinacle High School 1954-1958.

Betsy is a school teacher and Melvin is an architect in the Virginia tidewater area.

It is not currently known if there are any children.
