A webpage WilderCounty.com said that Mattie worked at the Blue Ridge Cafe after divorcing Doyle. Doyle came into the cafe and told the waitress that Ms. Mattie Mae made the best biscuits. When Mattie was informed she said she was married to him for twenty years and he never told her that once.
