¡ VILLAGE !
¿What is a Village?
A
Village is a international summer camp for 11 years old children.
It lasts 4 weeks, and it has people from 12 different countries.
The delegation of each of the countries is composed by two boys
and two girls (aged 11) and an adult (the leader).
Furthermore, there are 5 people from the host nation which are
the staff of the Village and 6 youngsters from different
countries(the JC´s), who are 16-17 years old. The staff
members and the Jc´s are an invaluable part of the Village.
Day by day, by living together and doing activities, participants
learn in a natural way that, in spite of the differences among
the countries and the cultures, as human beings they have a lot
of things in common.
One of the most important discoveries in the Villages is that the
comunication seems to be stronger in situations where there is
not any common language. If the languages are different, very
harm feelings appears
¿A Village?¿Why?
The Village is the most important activity of CISV. It is planned
for 11 years old children because:
- In CISV opinion, peace education is more effective if a person has not prejudices: prejudices about other races, religions, or ways of leaving.
- They accept new experiences and they can enyoy living with other nationalities and languages
- They are in an active age and they easily comunicate with other children.
- They are old enough to show a little about their own country.
If you have any 11 years old child, then this is a unique oportunity for him or her to discover a new world.
