Death Of Daniel Jackson
In the movie, Daniel Jackson is accidentally killed by one of Ra's Guards when Jack attacks them. Daniel, ever the Peace-Maker, is trying desperately to prevent the bloodshed, however, he is struck and killed.
As luck would have it, Ra has taken a shine to our hero, deciding to spare him his life. As luck would ALSO have it.. Daniel encounters his first Sarcophagus (Daniel and sarcophagi are to become quite familiar with each other as the series progresses).
Waking up within the confines of the sarcophagus, Daniel immediately checks his wound (Series-Daniel checks his wound in the Nox episode in a very similar manner.. the similarities are uncanny actually). This is when Daniel realises the healing powers of the sarcophagus, a really handy thing for him to know about as he tends to need one - often!
The first time he ever uses a sarcophagus voluntarily is when Sha'uri is killed and he places her inside, hoping to revive her. Which, of course, it does, and Daniel's fate as a sarcophagus hopping bachelor begins ;-D
