Betrayal
I found out what it was like to die today.
And you were the one who showed me.
I watched as everything I thought I stood for
Melted away in the inky blackness of a lie.
You didn't care how many people you lied to --
You told me a lie to make me lie --
Knowing that I could never sit idly by
And watch someone else get hurt.
So I lied to save them -- but, in truth,
I only lied to save you.
You made me betray everything.
Everything I held dear, everything I stood for --
Everything I believed in --
I betrayed it -- all of it -- for a lie.
You betrayed me, and I in turn betrayed myself.
But better myself than someone else.
You may not care what lies you tell.
You may not care if you wind up in Hell --
but I do care if I end up there -- and you?
If I go there, I was dragged down by you.
