Dark Angel

Here we are, finally together
How can I guess what you're feeling
How can I guess all your fears?
Do you feel for me the way I feel for you?

All these questions, left unanswered;
All these fears and hopes
All these hundreds of lifetimes --
Are you the one I longed for?

Were you meant for me -- or her
Who do you truly love?
Make the choice and leave it there --
Let me go, or hold me here.

You're a dark angel, an endless enigma
Shrouded in mystery, holding me here.
Troubled and hurt...I know I can save you!
I cannot let you send me away.

You love her or me -- for you cannot have both.
I know in my heart, that she'll always win.
What does it matter, with heart of an angel,
If you can't see past looks to the beauty within?

Just the other day, I made you laugh.
You smiled at me in that uncanny way
The way that makes me wonder who you really are.
Did I know you in some other day?

Maybe if she did not exist- then
Maybe I would have had a chance.
Does she love the scars that mar your soul?
Does she look past the things you can see at a glance?

I want you to hold me, tonight and for always.
I want you by my side until forever.
But if you cannot be there, you need only say so --
Even I can accept, for you, the word "never".

Dark Angel.
Dark Light.
