The Kovenant: Doc Placebo Invitational - Act I |
Doc Placebo, “Good evening TPW & UWA, and welcome, to the Konclave. This little lovely mansion used to be the nerve center of the Kovenant while the mantle of leadership had fallen to my charge.” Doc Placebo, “However, tonight is not a night about history, tonight is a night about tonight as it cannot be about yesternight as that night has long past. Tonight is a night about all of us and the world in which we live.” Tugging slightly on his cape which had begun to bunch up behind the Kovenant member the Doctor straightens the garment out allowing it to flow behind him in his wake while descending a small staircase to the side of the stage. Now walking through the spectator isles of the auditorium the Doctor continues to speak as you are granted a greater view of the surroundings in which the Andorran now stands. Towering above the Andorran painted on the ceiling is a mural of suffering as a collage of various inhuman points in human history is depicted for all to see. Images of hanging dead or still struggling young Salem women convicted to die by the judicial powers of a God-fearing United States take the majority of the collage while other segments are reserved for Christians being mauled by lions in the Roman coliseum and several segments which appear to be lifted from the Spanish Inquisition. Doc Placebo, “TONIGHT it begins. Already guests have begin to converge on my little abode here for a series of festivities to which you have been invited. Usually the events which shall proceed here within the confines of my walls are limited to a discriminating few who have earned their place here. You have not, and as a result you will be closely watched, yet through your association with me I feel that it is necessary…” Doc Placebo, “…to allow you to enter this world of mine for a night. To learn about me so that you can better understand myself and perhaps learn something about your inner being which you had never known existed, something which has gone unattended and ignored.” The architecture of this theater is somewhat reminiscent of an ancient cathedral with stone hewn walls, rows of pews in lieu of regular seating some of which are blocked off with barbed wire for reserved seating, and a thin layer of purple carpeting lining each walkway. Green banners reflecting the Doctor’s Kovenant alignment hang proudly throughout the theater lit by a series of torches; the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling are dim. Having walked down the center isle of his theater the Doctor turns about one hundred and eighty degrees, his gaze now rests on the entirety of his little theatrical venue. Doc Placebo, “Yes, tonight it begins. Here, within this place, those who share similar interests to me will be entertained by the screams of those who follow my voice. And you, TPW, shall bear witness, should you have the courage to choose to. However, this shall not be the only location which shall be available to my guests during the course of this week, nay.” Exiting the theater via two large wooden doors reminiscent of a castle’s entrance you now find the Doctor within what appears to be a contemporary mansion. Its architecture is considerably conservative compared to the theater in which you had just been observing. Never breaking his stride the Doctor leaves the theater doors behind as well as a pair of Minions in suit and tie attire who appear to be positioned to help assist various guests to their seats. In their hands are a series of pamphlets which contain a list of various slaves to be tortured throughout the week with various times and a list of guest speakers. After a short walk down a hallway you now find the Doctor within a large well lit room complete with a large assemblage of tables. Each table has a black table cloth with various plates and an array of eating utensils placed upon their surfaces. The room’s walls are lined with various pieces of weaponry such as swords, shields, whips, and maces. There are also a few Claude Monet Impressionistic style landscape paintings of small towns located in lush open mountainous terrain. Doc Placebo, “Of course for all of my guests meals shall be served around the clock as the festivities to which you shall be confronted with will not be adhere to any distinctive timetable.” Doc Placebo, “However, I realize that my tastes do not necessarily sate the collective pallets of all of my guests, because of this I have organized some classy entertainment…” Walking through the vicinity of the dining room the Doctor passes an extremely obscure oddity in that a plastic tarp has been placed on the ground between a series of dining tables with piles of dry dog food laying on top of the plastic for some unknown reason. Paying the conglomerates dog food no mind Placebo strides towards an open area within the dining room and quickens his stride as if he were in a waltz with an invisible partner as comes to a stop near a conductor’s podium. In front of the podium is a series of empty chairs and musical stands. Turing towards the camera with a conductor’s baton in hand Placebo smiles as he addresses his audience once more. Doc Placebo, “Now... that you have seen the dining room, the ballroom, and my theater where all of the events of my invitational shall take place I must warn you all. My House Rules SHALL BE OBEYED!” Doc Placebo, “This is for the safety of my guests, the sanctity of my home, and so that I may ensure your safety as well…” Doc Placebo, “I will treat my guests as King be they TPW or UWA, enemies or allies, Kovenant or… useless…” Doc Placebo, “However there is a certain individual to which I most certainly extend an invite towards this week. And no… it is not Nicky Mills or Spitfly… although they are on the list and I would wish to see my former compatriots grace my home with their presence I most assuredly look forward to seeing my opponent, here, in my home.” Doc Placebo, “WHAT is that you hear? Did Doc Placebo just welcome X-Dog? His opposition this week over to his house to play? Yes, you heard correctly.” Doc Placebo, “You see I’ve been amused by X-Dog this week. He’s proven quite tenacious on the airwaves unlike our previous two encounters and I’ve learned quite a bit about who he is as a person which to my undelight… irritates me.” Pausing for a moment the Doctor taps his conductor’s baton on the podium idly to his left for a moment as he collects his thoughts prior to continuing with his little soliloquy. Doc Placebo, “Little Dog… you wish to uphold the mantle of the good? What is that? What is good? Well Socrates claimed the only good is knowledge.” Doc Placebo, “John Stuart Mill claimed the only good action is an action with causes the most utility for society and created Utilitarianism.” Doc Placebo, “Tell me Mutt, if the world’s finest philosophers disagree on the good then how can you embody that which they disagree upon?” Doc Placebo, “Well, although I claim it to be a question of relativity I myself have been hailed by many of the masses to be ‘evil’.” Doc Placebo, “There is also a saying that I have heard, I believe it goes something like this, ‘evil only prospers when good men do nothing.’” Doc Placebo, “Well Poodle… what will you do? Will you stop me this War Games? Will you take up the mantle of the good and stop the evil? Or will you do NOTHING as you have twice before?” Doc Placebo, “But before you take up your feeble hands to stop ME, the Omega Sin, I want you to come here. Wallow in my world, observe depravity, and understand suffering. BE alive for the first time, question yourself, determine your moral grounds.” Doc Placebo, “Come to the Konclave X-Dog… and meet… …yourself.” With both his empty hand and his conductor’s baton which the Andorran grasps with his left hand the Doctor signals ‘cut’ with a quick deft move. In response to the Kovenant member’s command through the art of musical direction the scene begins to fall prey to an all consuming darkness which hungrily devours all light from your vision bringing closure to the scene however a single voice calls out from the dark… “I look forward to seeing your true face Dog… don’t forget it.” A final message conveyed the entire scene and every sound is squelched from your senses as the Doctor’s invitation to you all now looms over you leaving you at a crossroads. Now the only question is, where will you go… and will you meet your destiny? |
