Lesson Plan – Learn how to travel to a planet’ surface

As a member of the Royal Alderanian Fleet you will spend most of your military career hopping from world to world in the vast empty expanse between worlds. There lies our duty. However there are rare opportunities where duty requires us to land on solid ground and once more feel the pull of natural gravity commanding us to stay firmly planted.

So… how do you do it?

Easy.

STEP #1 -You must position your ship at the coordinates of a planet. In the picture below you will note that I am currently in orbit of Felucia on board the ATS Athena.

STEP #2 -Ok, we’re at the right place. Now how to get down there? Click the travel button as you would to travel to any location be it on a planet’s surface, on board a space station on foot, or if you’re flying a space ship. You should see a new option there that would not be available if you were not at the same coordinates as a planet, the new option just simply called “Planet”. Click that.

STEP #3 -Now you should see an image similar to the one just above this text. From this screen you can fly down towards the planet and choose which part of the planet you will decent to. Just click somewhere on the planet’s map and then click “reenrtry” or choose with the X & Y coordinates just next to the re-entry button.

Now you are traveling into the atmosphere of the planet, this process will take an hour. It does not matter if you are in a large freighter like the Gallofree Medium Transport I am flying on this outing or if you are in a sleek A-Wing, it will always take an hour. Now would be a good time to go do something else… watch some tv, make dinner, read a book (I suggest the Piers Anthony Incarnations of Immortality series starting with On a Pale Horse.

The picture above shows that as the time goes by the image of the planet you are traveling towards changes becoming larger as you get closer to your destination. Once your hour is up you will see an image in the game similar to the picture below once you click "Travel" and then "Descend".

STEP #4 -Now you see the planet map is similar to the star system map. There are many different coordinates you can enter and if you look on at the bottom of the picture above you will note the "city view". Each coordinate you can travel to on a planet has an entire set of sub coordinates on the ground level that you can reach.

In the "Descend" menu choose your next set of X & Y coordinates and click the second "Descend" button at the bottom of the menu. This button executes your travel commands while the original buttom merely opens this menu.

And then after another hours thats it! You're on the planet surface.
