Brooklyn rapper Mase (aka Mason Betha) grew up on the streets of Harlem,New York.Mase back when he was known as Murder Mase was part of an underground rap group called children of the corn along with Cam'ron who went by the alias Killer Cam and his deceased friend Bloodshed. He received a basketball scholarship to the State University of New York. In 1996 he was discovered at a music conference by hip-hop producer Sean "Puffy" Combs although Mase really went there to meet up with Jermaine Dupri. After that Mase was put on the 112 remix "only you". The rest is history Mase went on to appear on the platinum single "mo money mo problems", the platinum sinlge "can't nobody hold me down" and the platinum sinlge "honey". He appeared on a host of other songs before releasing his 3x platinum debut album "Harlem World" . Mase has also gone into producing with his own label All Out Records. He released his first artist album on March 9th which is actually a group Harlem World. His second album is his last album entitled "Double Up". An album to get his name back Mase says. Mase says he's coming out hard this time. No glitz no nothing just 100% him. Double Up show's the old Mase.
Recently Mase has announced that he will retire and won't rap on anyones album. He also said that he doesn't want to be in charge of a record label, so I guess that's the end of All Out Records. He l still Released "Double Up" though. I doubt he'll stay retired but only time will tell. The reason he's retiring is because he says he's found god. Mase said "Like the late great 2pac and people like Biggie they got the same messages they just didn't act on it" |
