Julie-
As a social worker Julie does not belive the outback exists and therefore belives the Maxx's adventures in the outback are his way of escaping the harsh reality of the city. She leaves after realizing Maxx's co-dependant relationship with her(or as she puts it the fact he's morbidly dependant on her). what she does not realize is that Maxx is only fixated on her because he has been fused with her spirit animal( A rabbit her mother put out of it's misary with a shovel); a result of hitting him with her buick. then covering him with a lampshade which became his mask.( we know this because Mr. Gone was looking on.) after Julie comes back pregnant, Maxx spends time trying to make julie's outback healthy again, while julie spends most of her time over the toilet (due to morning sickness). Maxx worked hard with the Jungle Queen and once again restored Julie's outback to its former beauty( as Julie's outback began to wither and die without Julie nearby.) Maxx then left, and taking off his costume returned the rabbit that had been fused with him to Julie's outback, therefore making julie whole again. However julie was feeling as bad as ever. 10 years later, Julie was moving around from shelter to shelter leaving her young son Mark alone for months at a time Trying to protect him from her own problems. Julie tends to run from her problems or bury them rather than face them (Maxx's hit-and-run would be a good example)leaving her inner child both suppressed and developmentaly stunted. Julie learned to supress her feelings from her mother who "had a knack for doing what needs to be done" and since the "bunny" incident, Julie has been burying her emotions in the search of happiness. Although I know from personal experiance that the supressing emotions makes for an unhealthy psyche, and personally I think when maxx took off his costume and left, Julie fell into a state of situational depression and even though her outback was once again healthy and whole, she pesonally was not happy(probably because she had grown used to Maxx being dependant on her.)
