How Real Exactly is Dark Skies ????
This question will probably haunt us for the entire run of the Dark Skies. In an effort to understand the television series better, I've done some research and discovered that the things that the writers of Dark Skies show us each Saturday night are based on actual working Conspiracy theories. Granted, the show does fill in the gaps with fiction to make the show the enjoyable entity that it is, but the fact remains... the writers have done their homework and have made this series as real as is possible.
As time goes
on, and my research is further consolidated, I plan to reference terms
mentioned in Dark Skies to actual documents and related Conspiracy Theories.
This promises to be a rather interesting endeavor, but I've got the time
and the inclination to do it, if for no one other than myself.
MAJESTIC-12
The first item of contention is Majestic-12, or Maji. One of the most important pieces of information for UFOlogist is the discovery of the Majestic-12 document, which was supposedly written by President Truman in the latter days of his presidency for President-elect Eisenhower. The legitimacy of this document remains in question, but it certainly is a compelling piece of information.
Dark Skies has mentioned this organization in great detail and the show has tied it in directly into the major plot thread that is being extended throughout the show.
AREA-51
Area-51 has been an item of contention in the hearts and minds of UFOlogist for many years. The truth is, Area-51 does exist (even the government has stopped trying to deny it any longer, and movies such as ID4 have even included it in their versions of science fiction. What goes on at Area-51 is anyone's guess, and many have tried. Anything from alien research to experimental aircraft tests are rumored to go on in the Nevada desert, and because of and in spite of its secrecy, many Sci-Fi shows, including Dark Skies have used its existence to their advantage.
Although we haven't seen the modern day Area-51 in the show yet, we have learned that it was a location from which the Hive operated extensively before Loengard and company found it and shut it down. Majestic took control of the area, and that's the last we've heard about it, but I'm quite sure we'll hear about it again in the future.
THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION
Who killed JFK? This question is still haunting us, even 33 years later. Was Oswald acting alone, were there other shooters in the grassy knoll, were the Cubans responsible, or was it some government agency with something to hide? Dark Skies has taken a very interesting view of the Kennedy Assassination. They contend that JFK was killed because he found out about the alien conspiracy thanks to John Loengard and his girlfriend, Kimberly Sayers. They still left the question unanswered as to who was responsible, but they do show that Jack Ruby was Federal operative, and that he was ordered to kill Oswald in order to keep him quiet. This does tend to make one believe that Oswald was nothing more than a patsy, and that someone else was involved in JFK's murder.
So who killed JFK? Even Dark Skies has yet to answer that question, but they have provided some information that makes for an interesting question, and an answer that we may not really want to know.
Is this just a copy of the X-Files?
Dark
Skies and the X-Files both sail the same waters of the un-explained UFO
events, But this is where the similarities end. Both shows are excellent,
and I cannot think of a better way to spend an hour on Wednesday and an
hour on Thursday than with these two shows.
Dark Skies is also much more in-your-face with its presentation of the "facts", while X-Files likes to drag plot points from one show to the next. The technique is quite different, but the results are strikingly similar, in that both shows come up with very similar answers to the same questions, which leaves one to wonder if there isn't indeed some merit to the whole conspiracy theory idea. This is certainly a compelling reason to watch both shows, and I suggest that you do. Although The X-Files doesn't always deal directly with the UFO phenomenon, almost all of the shows at least make some reference to them, and this information certainly helps the average conspiracy get more life. Compellation of evidence is very important, and when both shows have the same conclusions it does have an impact that makes us want to learn more about these conclusions. That became a compelling reason for me to construct this web site. Even though this section of Shadow Central focuses specifically on the events mentioned in Dark Skies, any tie-ins to other shows and other information found on the web or elsewhere will also be included. Together, we will uncover the truth behind all these theories, because "The Truth is Out There", and "The Truth is Stranger".
