Aramor of Tundra
Author: Telemachus

The Armor of the Tundra will radiate strongly of magic if it is
detected. This is field plate, designed to fit a relatively slender
human of 5 feet, 6 inches. With about one inch give in either
direction, this suit could easily fit a tall elf, a half-elf,
or a slender human. Wearer must be of the specified height, give
or take an inch, in order for the armor to be re-fitted and still
retain its magic. The base AC for the plate is 1, and it is magical
plate+2 in addition to its other powers.
The plate mail confers
a special "immunity to cold" which is stronger than
most natural immunities. The wearer makes all saves vs. cold-based
spells at +3 (physical cold only, such as a "Cone of Cold".
Th chilling touch of a wight would be unaffected) and can withstand
temperatures as low as -40 F with only moderate cold weather clothing.
Even if a saving throw is failed, the wearer takes only one-half
damage. If the save is made, the wearer takes a mere one-quarter
damage. In order to better withstand a long trek across the tundra,
the wearer can cast "create food and water" as the third
level priest spell (cast at level 8 see the 1989 PH p.209) once/day.
The wearer can also cast the wizard spell "Phantom Steed"
once/day (also cast at level 8... wearer can cross the tundra's
normal terrain without difficulty, and of course the steed is
unaffected by the weather; PH 1989, p. 152.)
