Wasn’t this a fun episode? Light, and happy. Obviously the costume department had a lot of fun with this episode, and I can’t blame them. It was probably a refreshing change to the constant ‘something…cultural?description for clothing I’m sure they usually get. Teal’c with an afro is not something I’m likely to forget any time soon.
Jack certainly had fun with those pop culture references. While some might think that he was bordering on Schizo (“I am Luke Skywalker!! Come on Han, let’s boost up the retractor beam!?, all we Die-Hard fans know that’s just Jack having a little fun...Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.
I loved that bus! It was really...groovy. I also liked the two people who accompanied the bus. Michael and the girl seemed a little stoned, and they probably were, but it was almost the ?0’s! So who can blame them? Oh well, now we know that it is, in fact, our very own SG-1’s fault that the world is so damned paranoid about UFOs and aliens. Blame them! Blame them, I tell you! I did like that scene when they convinced Michael and his friend that they were from a place ‘far away? It was such a silly scene, but they played it so straight that it made me feel like I was the only one laughing, which only made it funnier.
General Hammond had a great part in this episode...even if Don S. Davis didn’t. Whoever played young General Hammond really did a great job getting his ‘isms?down.
The ending of this episode got a little confusing, as all TV shows that deal with time travel do. But this is not an episode to be analyzed. You’re not supposed to lie back in bed and think “But if she had never cut her hand...and if Cassandra...but if General Hammond...wait..." All it is is just a light, fluffy episode that you just watch and go along for the ride.
