MYTHOLOGY GUIDE
3X1 THE TWO
The Run Down:
-
Hong Kong: Vaughn tells Syd her DNA-matched body was
found when her apartment burned down. Will survived. Vaughn
quit the CIA after her "death" and became a teacher. Syd attacks
him and tries to escape, thinking its all a trick, but gets captured.
-
Dixon tells Syd it's all true. Dixon has been the Division
Director for almost 6 months. Weiss is still around. Jack is
in solitary imprisonment for almost a year, put in by the National Security
Council. Kingsley is transporting a chip to the CIA in Avignon, but
the Covenant is after him. They've found a Covenant outpost in Paris.
Marshall is still at CIA and has knocked up Carrie but she doesn't want
to get married. Syd claims to remember being held in the Paris outpost
and heard Kingsley's name. Robert Lindesy is the local NSC Director.
The CIA knows almost nothing about The Covenant. Lindsey sends Syd
in with the team over Dixon's objections. Syd demands to see Jack.
Lindsey doesn't like Jack.
-
Lyon, France: Volkov and the Covenent kills everyone
on Kingsley's train. They get the chip off Kingsley's body.
It's the specs for a spy drone that can fly undetected by radar, also a
potential delivery system.
-
Syd sees Jack in prison. He was charged with resisting
authority. After her "death" he became obsessed with finding the
truth, and 1 year ago teamed up with Derevko, at the time #6 on the Most
Wanted. Lindsey found out and made an example of him. Syd tells
him she made up the memory. Jack didn't know Vaughn got married and
likes him even less now. His investigation into her death turned
up some unexpected results, she must use the CIA to find the truth.
He knew she was alive.
-
Paris: Syd and Weiss raid the Covenant outpost.
The Covenant slaughters the CIA team and Volkov nearly kills Weiss.
Volkov and Syd seem to recognize each other. Volkov escapes.
Syd tells Weiss she lied about the memory and needs to go on her own.
Weiss tells her to talk to Sloane; he negotiated a pardon is now a CIA
consultant. He runs a World Health Organization outlet Omnifam in
Zurich, Switzerland.
-
Zurich: Syd sees Sloane for info on the Covenant, which
he readily supplies. Volkov is former Russian MVD, a high class hitman.
Sloane knows she's trying to win Jack's freedom. Syd threatens him,
blaming him for her abduction. Sloane has fed 3.5 million children
and has made large leaps forward in fighting cancer. The Rambaldi
Device, when activated, delivered a message, a single word: PEACE.
Sloane had an epiphany and changed his ways. He helped the CIA dismantle
over 25 terrorist cells. Syd doesn't trust him.
-
Syd hits up her last remaining contact Bernard for information
on Volkov. Lindsey has the DOJ list Syd as a fugitive.
-
Prague: Syd bazookas Volkov's car and retrieves the
chip from him. She might have killed Volkov as well. She threatens
to destroy the chip to Lindsay if Jack isn't released. Lindsey relents.
Syd is incensed at Vaughn for giving up on her and wants nothing to do
with him; she would have waited for him. One year after Syd's "death",
Jack was tracking a Russian diplomat Lazaray when he saw Syd murder him
on surveillance. She has no memory of it.
Analysis:
-
Will got stabbed in the gut with a big knife and was left
in a bathtub for hours... then the place burned down... how the hell did
he survive all that? I guess Syd's Abductors wanted him alive?
-
Since the Covenant is apparently appearing just around the
time of Syd's return, they must be behind it.
-
I assume Volkov was killing everyone on the train because
he knew Kingsley was on the train but didn't know his appearance or gender,
so decided to make sure he got him by slaughtering every soul on board.
-
Why doesn't Syd ask about what's happened in the world in
the past two years? When she left the war with Iraq had just ended...
-
Well it sounds like Sloane and/or Derevko didn't do anything
particularly interesting in the past two years...
-
Volkov definitely seemed to recognize Syd, supporting the
Covenant=Syd's kidnappers theory.
-
Sloane turning benefactor to the world isn't that farfetched,
he was never "evil", just a morally ambiguous guy who wanted to do good.
Of course, Il Dire just telling him "peace" is pretty damn lame, but I'm
sure that's a lie. Maybe Sloane will bring peace to the world by
using his new cancer research and feed-the-poor corporation to deliver
a virus and/or immortality to the world in secret.
-
Okay, so the Covenant kidnapped Syd, brainwashed her into
an assassin, harvested her ovaries, then kicked her back?
3X2 SUCCESSION
The Run Down:
-
Berlin: The Covenant kidnaps 2 undercover CIA agents
from Leizig Aerospace. The Covenant are a "loose affiliation of Russian
nationalists comprised of former Central Committee members and retired
KGB. Though we know little about them, they seem to function like
an organized crime family". They send back the head of one of the
agents and ask for Mister Sark. The NSC is willing to trade Sark
for Rotter; he's already told them everything he knows. Lindsey's
ass is covered by the White House. Sloane's intel says Sark killed
a high ranking Covenant member; they probably want to kill him in revenge.
Sloane has been providing accurate intel for over a year.
-
Jack gives Syd a test to make sure she isn't still brainwashed
and suggests that torture may have led to her amnesia. They can't
tell the CIA about the Lazaray tape. Syd moves into a new place next
door to Weiss. Will is in witness protection and Syd isn't allowed
to contact him. When Syd "died", Vaughn disappeared out-country for
6 months. Weiss wants him to come back to the CIA. Vaughn is
teaching French at a college. Syd tells him not to avoid rejoining
over her. After Syd's death, Vaughn became an alcoholic and started
to have conversations with her.
-
Zurich: Jack meets Sloane for the first time since
his change of heart. Jack doesn't think he's changed and doesn't
believe Il Dire just told him "peace". He blames Sloane for Syd's
disappearance and demands that he confesses or he'll invalidate his pardon.
Sloane was surprised to learn Jack worked with Derevko. Sloane gives
him all his intel on Syd's disappearance.
-
Syd sees Sark before his release. He's surprised she's
alive and asks about the faux-body. Syd knows he was involved with
Evil Francie and asks why Sloane abducted her. He claims he knows
nothing about her missing 2 years or the Covenant.
-
Mexico: Syd and Weiss make the prisoner exchange with
the Covenant. Lindsey sends in Delta Force to grab Sark as well,
but the Covenant makes off with Sark and Rotter. Ushek San'ko meets
Sark, who knows the bomb that killed his brother was not meant for him.
He wants $800 million, which Sark doesn't have, but San'ko says he does.
San'ko takes Sark to a Cayman account where he has a vault of $800 in gold.
8 months ago Lazarey was murdered, the descendent of the Romanov family
in Russia. Sark is Lazaray's son and the heir to his fortune.
-
Syd chews out Lindsey over the flubbed mission. Vaughn
returns to the CIA but is on Analysis until he gets his Field Rating again.
Jack reports on the Lazarey connection with Sloane's files. Jack
now thinks the Covenant is behind Syd's abduction. He contacts Derevko
online, tells her Syd is alive and enlists her help on investigating Lazarey.
They miss each other.
-
Frankfurt: They track the Covenant to a drug dealer's
dance club. Syd kills the Covenant doctor, who says she promised
to kill him before, "you were my favorite. you never broke".
She rescues Rotter.
-
Syd meets a group of CIA agents missing time. One guy
lost 18 months when he was shot down over Iraq. She doesn't want
to go to the group again. Dixon introduces her to Lauren Reed the
new NSC Liaison; Vaughn's wife.
Analysis:
-
The Covenant sounds just like another version of K-Directorate,
with half of the Alliance thrown in.
-
Why can't Syd see Will just once in a neutral setting or
something?
-
How did Vaughn get over his little binge of booze and madness?
-
Well Sark didn't know about his liberation by the Covenant,
so that casts doubt on Sloane being behind the Covenant. That or
Sloane was just keeping Sark in the dark because he knew what a snitch
he was. Or Sark is just lying again.
-
How did the Covenant know about Sark's heritage when even
Sark didn't? He was sent to school in England at a young age ("Countdown"),
did he know his father?
-
So the Covenant used Syd to murder Lazarey, knowing that
8 months later they would arrange for Sark's liberation in order to get
their hands on $800 million, to bankroll some future endeavor. That's
some long term planning!
-
Sounds like Syd wasn't the only abducted-n-brainwashed agent
done by the Covenant. But if she never broke, why did she kill Lazarey?
Does this mean she was working willingly for them and then they erased
her memory?
-
Gee what a COINCIDENCE that Vaughn's wife is now NSC liasion...
3X3 REUNION
The Run Down:
-
A satellite falls from the sky in Gorky Park of Moscow.
Russia's early warning system activates and the President activates a nuclear
launch, which is scrubbed moments before the launch. Echelon picks
up a call between Sark and Col Bros Oransky, discharged from Russian Military
Space Command in 1996, now working for a private French contractor.
Oransky brought down his own satellite, phase one of plan with Sark.
They're meeting in Mexico City, NSC wants to surveil only to learn more
about the Covenant. The US now has real-time face recognition on
their satellite.
-
Syd bitches out to Lauren, who isn't happy about her.
It's been 2 weeks since Syd came back. Vaughn met Lauren when she
questioning the CIA personnel while wrapping up the case on Derevko.
She's the daughter of Senator Reed. Lauren is leading the NSC investigation
into Oransky's murder and has found footage from a different security camera.
Marshall is working on clearing the image of Syd's face. Jack says
if the NSC learns she was the killer they'd subject her to tests leaving
permanent brain damage. Jack uploads a worm into Dixon's computer
to keep Syd's face obscured from the footage.
-
Mexico City: Syd surveils the meeting between Sark
and Oransky, where they exchange photos. Phase one revealed their
targets for Project Medusa. Syd is discovered and they both escape.
The photos were of the area around the Kremlin.
-
Syd remembers Medusa from her SD-6 days. It's an anti-satellite
pulse weapon that uses a microwave beam to cripple satellite networks,
blinding them in preparation for an attack. Oransky supervised the
development of Medusa but was discharged before it was completed.
Gorky Park was to observe where the government officials fled to; the Science
Ministry, where Medusa is. Russia officially denies having any anti-satellite
program. Sloane has contacts with the Science Ministry and can get
them in. Lauren was part of the NSC team that brokered Sloane's pardon.
Syd thinks Sloane helped them eliminate only rival terrorist cells.
Sloane doesn't want to help them; he'd help them be breaking the law, which
is against his pardon agreement.
-
Moscow: Syd and Vaughn team up to infiltrate the Science
Ministry. Sark and Oransky blast their way into the complex at the
same time. Syd and Vaughn destroy the Medusa complex. Sark
escapes but Oransky is killed trying to go after Syd.
Analysis:
-
So... Sark is now willingly working for the Covenant?
Given his behavior last episode, maybe they really aren't with Sloane after
all.
-
I assume Lauren wrapping up the Derevko case and meeting
Vaughn was after his 6 month binger in Europe.
-
So is the CIA allowed to destroy a massive military complex
in Russia that was run by the legal government? I can only assume
President Bush is still in office in 2005!
-
Was there a higher purpose for the Covenant to go after a
satellite-killing weapon?
The Run Down:
-
In Cannes France a 4 man team send by the Covenant steals
vials of the Ebola virus from an epidemiology lab. Syd questions
the dying captured member, who admits a second heist is planned to modify
the virus into being airborne. The team is led by Simon Walker, who
led a 1999 Damascus Armory job and a 2002 break-in at Vector. Syd
is sent undercover as the replacement operative.
-
Sevilla: Syd contacts Walker, who calls her "Julia",
ex partner and lover. Lazarey called her "Julia" on the tape.
Walker has been wondering where Julia disappeared to. Julia's speciality
was murder. As her test she must steal a necklace from a princess
in a hotel.
-
Lauren meets Sloane for info on Walker, who taunts her about
Syd the entire time and suggests she got her job from her father.
Sloane learns they're making a genetically-tailored virus that could only
kill specific people. Jack shows Dixon the Lazarey murder tape, fearing
she was about to tell Vaughn about it. Vaughn is forbidden from telling
Lauren about it.
-
Pamplona: Walker and Julia met in Algeria where they
both almost died. Walker catches Syd meeting with Vaughn. When
he confronts her, she claims he's her supplier. Marshall creates
a criminal charge for Vaughn to prove it. Their target is a Disease
Control Ministry warehouse for a biological agent. Sark is ordering
the theft. They complete the theft but Walker's men capture Vaughn
on the way out, knowing he's CIA. Syd asks to be the one to kill
him; she stabs him with a knife and drops him off a cliff.
Analysis:
-
The Covenent isn't showing any grand design thus far... murder,
control of defense satellites, custom-victim viruses...
-
Why does Sloane hate Lauren? She led the team that
pardoned him. Is he really just doing it for Syd's own good?
Or for laughs?
