Part One

It was summer in L. A, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer was visiting with her dad for a week. A slightly boring week, but nice anyway. Anywho, the Slayer was walking to the store to pick up some milk and bread while occupying herself with her thoughts. <Angel's supposed to be in this city, not that it's likely I'll see him. I should try not to think of him as much. I'm certainly doing better than I was, it's been over a month since he left.>

Angel was also walking along with his thoughts. <Oh, man, I wish I had known that vampire was carrying a small, albeit hard, club. Ah, well. It'll heal. I wonder what Buffy's doing? I shouldn't think of her as much as I do, but I can't help it. How odd, it's almost as if I can feel her presence...>

At the same time, the Slayer was thinking <I have got to stop thinking about him! I mean, I can almost feel his presence, but of course that's just my imagi-> "Oof!" she exclaimed as she collided with someone and fell back.

"Oh, I'm sorry, my fault!" she apologized, not yet looking up.

"No, it was mine. I wasn't paying attention," Angel said. He offered his hand to the girl. She accepted it and started to say that she wasn't either, but it was then the two looked at each other's faces. Angel silently helped Buffy up and they just looked at each other for a minute.

"Well, this was unexpected," Buffy broke the silence.

"What are you doing here?" Angel asked a trifle dubiously.

"Visiting my dad...our good-byes never seem to last, do they? I mean, this will make big good-bye #4," Buffy said.

"I only count three," Angel replied, realizing that they were simply distracting themselves. It wouldn't last long, they were both beginning to tremble.

"When we first promised not to see each other, we ended up dating, when I sent you to hell, you came back, after we dealt with the mayor, here you are. This will make four," her voice was beginning to crack.

"Yes, you're right...," and they couldn't help it anymore. They leaped into each other's arms, desperately clinging to each other ((ain't this corny?)).

"I missed you," Buffy professed, tears welling up.

"I missed you too," Angel agreed, as they were both thinking, <Damn. Why are we doing this to ourselves?>. Buffy's father chose this time to walk down the street, looking for his daughter. Needless to say, he was suprised, and a bit startled, at the sight he saw. Hank Summers came up to the ex-lovers and tapped Buffy's shoulder. She jumped and saw who it was. Then proceeded to push away from Angel, who obliged when he saw the man and put two and two together.

"Hi, Dad! This is Angel, a...friend from Sunnydale who I haven't seen in over a month. Angel, this is my Father," Buffy said, with an innocent ditzy smile. He looked like more than a friend to Hank, but he blamed that on his suspicious father nature. After all, why would the boy (actually he looked a little older then 'boy') leave if they still liked each other that much?

"Hi, Angel. Buffy, your friend Willow called," Hank said. Buffy and Angel began to look worried.

"What about?" Buffy asked urgently.

"She didn't say, just that it's important." The Slayer and what was her Angel went to the nearest pay phone, a few feet away, and Hank curiously followed. <How odd.>

"Yeah, Willow? Is everything all right? Oh, good, what's so important?" Buffy asked. Angel looked relieved.

"What?!...He's right here, I literaly just ran into him. Hard," Buffy was saying, and with his vampire hearing, Angel heard a "What?!" from the other line, and smiled.

"You were saying something about a catch?...Oh. Well we can figure something out while you finish translating, and we catch up...Thank you! You're the best wicca friend a Slayer ever had! Bye!", Buffy finished and hung up (she had whispered the wicca and Slayer part). She turned around and suprised Angel by hugging him. He didn't object.

"What was that all about?", Angel asked.

"You know that *problem* you have?"

"Which problem?", Angel asked, not daring to hope.

"With that cursed old *system*, and it's *glitch*." Okay, by now Hank had figured out that they weren't talking about a sink or Sega. This was some kind of code.

"Oh, that problem," Angel said, a slight tremble in his voice.

"Willow found a *new* system, without the glitch," Buffy said.

"Really?"

"Yup, the one catch is we have to remove the old one before installing the new one," she informed him with an unreadable expression.

"Hmm...I guess we can figure that out, somehow," Angel said with a trace of a smile, and eyes full of love.

"Wondeful," Buffy said before she happily leaned into his kiss. <"Friend." Yeah, right. I am royaly confused now. I'll have to get my daughter to explain this,> Hank was thinking.
