Under The Table is my first published book, although it is hardly exclusively 'mine'.
I was one of seven editors, and one of nineteen contributors, so this collection was very much a team effort.
So what is Under The Table? It is a collection of short fiction and poetry produced by creative writing students from the University of Western Australia (ISBN 0 86422 028 7). It is the second collection in a series of student creative writing publications at UWA, the first being a volume called Trove.
Terri-ann White describes Under The Table this way:
The first impression: across the collection there is an engagement through passion with each chosen area of investigation, from travel to loss to love to intrigue and memory and back to ideas themselves as the subject material. Mystery. Open-endedness. Confidence. Clarity and crispness. A range of distinctive voices, an immense range of subjects and concerns and obsessions and styles.Below are two reviews of Under the Table. These reviews are owned by the authors, and have been reproduced here with permission. To reproduce any part of these reviews, permission must be sought from the authors.
Publication would not have been possible without the financial assistance of: The English Department of UWA, The Centre for Studies into Australian Literature (UWA), The Guild of Undergraduates of UWA.
Under The Table is priced at $10 (Australian), however the total price charged will vary depending on postage costs. The collection can be purchased by sending an email to Cathy Cupitt, or by addressing a letter to:
