Violetskye's
Treasure Forum
The Treasure Forum was held on April 1, 1998, conducted by Treasure Guru, GM Issigrii.
[Global Assembly Room] Issigrii calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.
Issigrii says, "ooo, silence."
Issigrii says, "ok"
Issigrii says, "First I should define what treasure is. If you can hold it here, it's
treasure. :)"
Issigrii says, "I'm Issigri. Most of you probably only know me through feedback, unless you're kinda old. I also am the "treasure guru" of GemStone. I'm the one that
makes the decides on what goes in, from fluff to +50 vorpal swords."
Issigrii says, "Basically, I'm just going to take questions. They can be about anything that relates to treasure. Questions about magic items/weapons/armor, weapon names,
silver, skins, alterations, etc."
Issigrii takes the lid off the question box. Use ASK to submit a question.
Issigrii says, "Tiyah says, 'My older sister has been hunting for well over a year, and
we're talkin bout quality treasure creatures whenever possible, and she has never found a
single "box" (y'know, 'special') type item . . .now are the odds really that bad?
Issigrii nods to Tiyah, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Well, first, not every item that's special is obvious. You may well have
found an enchantable frumpy red cloak, and tossed it."
Issigrii smiles at Tiyah.
Tiyah says, "well that would be a first I guess! "
Tiyah asks, "but can ya tell me what critters have the best odds?"
Issigrii says, "There is no way to be sure to get an item though...it's completely
random. GMs in the game have no control over when an item is put in a found or, or
what item is put in a found chest."
Issigrii says, "The only odds would be critters that gen more chests. Finding a chest,
regardless of the critter that had it, gives the same odds on getting an item."
Issigrii asks, "ok?"
Tiyah asks, "what percentage of boxes carry some item such as she seeks?"
Issigrii says, "It's a random roll, based on time. When an item goes out for a certain
level, then it'll wait at least X minutes, and then start rolling a random number to give out
another item."
Tiyah asks, "I mean she's gone through a year na d half of boxes, and nuttin, is that
typical?"
Issigrii says, "Random would mean that would happen, so yes."
Tiyah asks, "any changes planned to increase the odds in the future?"
Tiyah exclaims, "that's my last wuestion!"
Issigrii says, "The odds change from time to time, yes. ;)"
Tiyah says, "err question"
Issigrii nods.
Issigrii smiles at Tiyah.
Tiyah exclaims, "thank ya!"
Having finished addressing the assembly Tiyah sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Vaeyre, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Vaeyre says, 'Why can't we have less coinage treasure, and more box-
found items?'"
Issigrii says, "because coins are easier to make than individual items."
Vaeyre asks, "Thank you. As some of you may know, many people have complained
about the amount of coins going around, due to no inflation. Why can't more items be
made?"
Vaeyre says, "In terms of work, I'm not sure how many are created now, but more
might be better."
Vaeyre says, "Or some sort of a system dealing out enchanted weapons on occasion,
or somesuch."
Vaeyre says, "I meant, inflation is due to there being little coin *loss*."
Vaeyre says, "Public speaking, and all."
Issigrii says, "Every item that is made takes time...for the unique ones. The GM that
makes it puts it out to be checked, and another GM checks the item and if it's okay, sends
it to be randomly put in a chest. One unique item probably avaerages about 10-15
minutes of GM time."
Issigrii says, "We double check things like that to try an keep something with a
mistake, or inappropriate from going into the game."
Vaeyre asks, "On the average, how often are these put out? A unique item, in a
chest?"
Issigrii says, "As far as coin loss, there will be that when breakage returns."
Issigrii says, "I would guess about 30 a day at least."
Vaeyre says, "Surprising. That's all, thank you for your time."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Vaeyre sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Kaziganthii, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Kaziganthii says, 'how hard is it to find a "real gem"'"
Issigrii says, "It's not hard, you just have to look in, on, under, and behind anything
you can."
Kaziganthii says, "i thought you could only find them on critters"
Issigrii says, "Real gems are put in the game from time to time. Some even sit in the
game for months before being found."
Issigrii says, "No, real gems will only be found hidden in something in a room."
Kaziganthii says, "is there a way they can be spotted with picking them up"
Issigrii says, "When you pick one up, you will get a unique message saying you found
a real gem, and what to do. Also, everyone in the game will see you found a real gem."
Kaziganthii says, "i mean without"
Issigrii says, "Just by looking for them."
Kaziganthii says, "what kind of gems can be found"
Issigrii says, "searching a room doesn't help...you have to look on/under/behind/in
things you see in a room"
Issigrii says, "real gemstones. ;)"
Issigrii says, "IE, anything that would be called a gemstone."
Kaziganthii says, "thats all"
Issigrii says, "We've given out topaz, pearl, citrines for instance. As a player I found
an 18 carat lemon citrine."
Having finished addressing the assembly Kaziganthii sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Merlock, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Merlock says, 'I've read on the boards about the treasure system
changing to something which will track whats hunted and whats not, and disperse
treasure based on how often its hunted. When do you predict it changing to this?'"
Issigrii stares at Merlock.
Merlock asks, "Bad question?"
Merlock says, "Oh, Silkie whispered to me it changed, guess I haven't been around
much to oftne."
Merlock says, "Oops ;P"
Issigrii says, "as soon as I finish putting it in? *flail* I should have finished it by now.
There will be a new 10 level treasure system, and when that's made live, it will auto-
adjust based on hunting pressure of the creature compared to the creatures around it in
levels."
Merlock exclaims, "Oh, guess she's wrong then!"
Issigrii says, "so...soon. :)"
Issigrii pokes Silkie in the ribs.
Merlock asks, "So the more hunted, the less treasure -- the less hunted, the more
treasure?"
Issigrii asks, "Any more questions on that line?"
Merlock asks, "Is it calculated independantly within each 10 level bracket, or as a
whole of all critters?"
Issigrii says, "right, compared to critters around that level. Likely 5 on either side."
Merlock says, "Ah, okay."
Issigrii says, "that bracket. that way the treasure of your character level, isn't affected
by treasure of other level characters well away from you"
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Merlock says, "Sounds good, thats pretty much all i wanted to ask."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Merlock sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Krogh, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Krogh says, 'Issigri, kin ya esplain wot da new ideas is fer skins an'
such? I's wond'rin why we gots sumpin' like sabretoot' chompers an' such rarities goin' fer
no mores den yer centaur skins.'"
Issigrii says, "Skins are somethign that will need revamping too. It will more so based
on how many skins are brought in, somewhat like treasure will be. I also want to add
something in that will generate quality of the skin and get more value. It will help out
empath's for instance in getting more silver."
Krogh asks, "So will we be a seein' critters goin' up jes' like dey's goin' down? So
mebbe a kiramon chomper goes up ta more den 500?"
Issigrii says, "Yes. It's not something I've given alot of thought to yet, but it needs to
be changed from what it is now. Fire rats/cats for instance have been massed hunted and
skinned for a long time just for silvers. It just doesn't make sense you can make millions
of silvers in a fairly short time from just those skins. What does the furrier do with all of
them? Might has well just give you the silver up front."
Issigrii asks, "massed hunted?"
Issigrii says, "ick"
Krogh asks, "A'ighties. Wid dis treasure dispersin' system yas werkin' on... dat onny
fer box packin' critters?"
Issigrii says, "I'm going to look at all the critters, and maybe make some more carry
treasure. Obviously a rat wouldn't, but there may be some out there that don't now, that
reasonably could."
Krogh says, "An' while I's at it, I don' reckon she's all dat much 'arder ta make a dull
black glaes war 'ammer den it is a 'frumpy red cloaks'... I'd much radder sees more simple
magick treasures bein' foun' in boxes. Mebbe e'en gits folks packin' weapons wot gots a
hist'ry an' some meanin' to 'em, radder den "I boughts dis at da las' Jugg""
Issigrii says, "Critters that don't carry chests, should be worth more in the skin
department. I just have to see what's out there on an individual basis."
Krogh says, "Ayes, dat's da way I wos 'opin' ya'd see its"
Issigrii says, "actually, alot of weapons go out also. In that case actually on the critter
and they use it to swing at you. I've seen many times a player would kill a critter with a
unique weapon, and not notice."
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Krogh says, "Ayes, I's done yappin'."
Having finished addressing the assembly Krogh sits back down.
Issigrii smiles at Krogh.
Issigrii nods to Duelstar, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Duelstar says, 'Why do younger critters give more loot than older ones?
example: I've actually tested this, on a given hunting trip kill the same amount of lesser
orcs as ya do zombies, cash in the loot from both and lesser orcs are way richer. Same
with higher level critters. Regular wraiths (lvl 15) are much richer than ice wraiths
(50ish).'"
Duelstar says, "Merlock kinda touched on this...."
Issigrii says, "that's something with the new system that will be changed, though still
possible to happen if the younger critter is very underhunted. That will happen when the
critter is "hard" for it's level."
Duelstar says, "wind wraiths is an even better example"
Issigrii says, "the auto-adjusting treasure will work to make that hard critter at some
point worth hunting, because it's valuable enough for the risk."
Duelstar says, "guess where it baffles me is the unbalance"
Duelstar says, "I know what yer sayin about the new system"
Duelstar asks, "however will I still get more loot from a level 4 lesser orc than a level
60 wind wraith or 85 fire elemental?"
Issigrii says, "You have to realize that currently treasure changes are set for a good
length of time before being changed, because we have to change every critter manually.
So when the critter was designed, maybe it seemed worthy of the higher treasure and got
it, and has never been changed."
Issigrii says, "I doubt it. The amount in level it can drop from overhunting will only
be so much, and the starting level for treasure will be based on the critter's level"
Duelstar says, "I dunno, just seems ive seen GM's post about how they dont like older
folks cash huntin in lower level areas...."
Duelstar says, "well if the higher level areas had loot we wouldnt"
Duelstar says, " Issigrii says, "this would give the higher level critters more loot. it will also put a dent
in cash hunting, since the system will adjust pretty quickly to the overhunting."
Duelstar asks, "will a fire elemental drop say.....fiery gems or some such?"
Issigrii says, "overall there is no treasure decrease though. whatever is taken away
from a critter for overhunting, is given to the critters in level around that one as being
underhunted."
Issigrii says, "I don't know about fiery gems...the gems we have in the game have
value's and fit within a level of treasure, and still will."
Duelstar asks, "how will that affect those that cant hunt certain critters because the
critter is not "made" for their profession?"
Issigrii says, "It won't."
Duelstar asks, "can ya elaborate on how it wont?"
Duelstar says, "I can see holes in that"
Issigrii says, "the critter won't care who hunts it, just how often it's killed."
Duelstar asks, "What will happen if there is only 1 type of critter in the bracket range
with the new system. Will the level be a set amount & never change, since it can't
compare to anything?"
Issigrii asks, "There are 10 level gaps in critter's here?"
Duelstar says, "humm"
Duelstar says, "yes"
Issigrii says, "I didn't think so, but the answer is no, it wouldn't make any difference."
Duelstar says, "Matubaa, had to go from wind wraiths to pyros, that's 12, thraks
wouldn't learn me much"
Duelstar says, "banshee at 55, nothin else from 50-60 and they aint got no loot
neither"
Issigrii says, "if there is a gap that big, then the level of treasure would simply not
change from the original, since there is no where to put the change."
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Duelstar says, "supose so"
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Duelstar sits back down.
Issigrii says, "Arator says, 'So... Any Vorpal swords on the way?'"
Issigrii says, "There has been one vorpal blade to my knowledge. It was lost by
Moonpie many years ago at the spider temple."
Issigrii says, "There are however always new crit weapons being added, like the acid
crits, so vorpal could be around the corner. ;)"
Issigrii nods to Garthlik, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Garthlik says, 'In the last 8 months since ranged weapon were
introduced why have there has only been 1, +5 ranged weapon sold at the juggie? Can we
expect more? If so what has taken so long.'"
Issigrii says, "Ranged weapons are new. Yes, I'm sure there will be higher plus
ranged weapons in the future."
Issigrii asks, "One of the GMs did some sort of ranged weapon merchant. I know he
sold crit arrows?"
Issigrii says, "I would think up to +20 would be common as it is with other weapons,
eventually. I haven't looked at how powerful ranged weapons are yet compared to other
weapon types though. "
Issigrii says, "Somethign that's new takes testing before things are implemented with
it. We would want to do research on how a +20 arrow does compared to a +20
broadsword before tossing them in."
Garthlik asks, "Any times frames on those +20 ranged weapons?"
Garthlik asks, "And when did +10/20 ranged weapons become over powered?"
Garthlik says, "They do considerably less damage."
Issigrii says, "I don't know that they would be."
Garthlik says, "Okay, thenn..."
Garthlik says, "Thats it I guess."
Issigrii says, "less damage? gads, that 45 auto I've got does pretty good damage. ;)"
Garthlik asks, "45 auto?"
Issigrii chuckles.
Issigrii says, "Well, during testing, Cyper actually made a revolver. Did excellent
puncture crits. It's a little out of genre to be put in the game though. Just one of those fun
things a GM only can have. ;)"
Garthlik says, "But with a end roll of 300+ I still only do 50 points of damage..."
Garthlik says, "Thats certinlly not overpowered."
Issigrii asks, "What about the criticals?"
Garthlik says, "No crit either."
Garthlik says, "Just damage."
Garthlik says, "On some creatures"
Issigrii says, "Some creatures are immune to puncture crits though."
Garthlik says, "Shrug oh well, thanks."
Issigrii says, "nod"
Having finished addressing the assembly Garthlik sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Aschren, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Aschren says, 'what was the rationale behind the devaluing of
skins/pelts/etc awhile back?'"
Issigrii says, "Mass overhunting for huge amounts of silver from skins. That wasn't
what skins were designed for."
Issigrii says, "It was a game imbalance though when a player could gain tens of
millions of silvers just from skinning a creature."
Aschren asks, "it seemed odd at the time that older critter skins would be worth the
same as younger, will that change with the new system?"
Issigrii says, "Older critters should be worth more."
Aschren says, "good..."
Aschren asks, "erm, back to those unique items a moment?"
Issigrii says, "the same as the treasure system, it would start out as a base compared
to critter level mostly. Some critters though the treasure is the skin, so that would also
make it worth more, compared to a critter it's level that also gens treasure as well as a
kin"
Issigrii says, "skin"
Issigrii nods to Aschren.
Aschren says, "is it common for critters to have enchanted weapons of the type that
they normally carry, such that you'd have to pick it up and examine it to tell the
difference? armor for that matter"
Issigrii says, "creatures won't wear armor that's enchanted...but they will carry
weapons that are. The weapon would look different somehow from what it normally
carries, yes."
Aschren says, "so rarity has nothing to do with skin value? ki-lin horns are woth 600
silver for instance"
Issigrii says, "It will with the change, yes, since ki-lin horns wouldn't be sold to the
furrier that much."
Aschren says, "well, that's all I gots, thanks"
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Aschren sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Tsalin, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Tsalin says, 'When is it determined what is in a box? When opened or
when the creature is searched?'"
Issigrii says, "when the creature is searched."
Tsalin says, "I figured as much"
Tsalin says, "That was a base question, I have heard other questions earlier and I
would like to add to those if that's alright"
Tsalin says, "Ok, speaking of older critters"
Tsalin says, "Fire elementals carry nothing and they're 85 I think"
Tsalin says, "Lava golems are 80(I think) and have gems worth not much, that will go
up when the system comes into play I guess"
Tsalin asks, "Some critters are seriously out of weight for their hardness...soul
golems are 65, with not great treasure, and VERY hard to kill...how does something like
that happen?"
Issigrii says, "Hard to kill might be subjective. When lichs were new, they were
considered way too hard and unfair. They are literally trampled over now."
Tsalin says, "I'm 70 and highly trained in the art of repelling for my age and for some
reason I still have trouble killing them at times...when I do kill them, they have minimal
treasure in their amazingly hard boxes...."
Tsalin says, "True, but not only are they hard and carry little good treasure, they are
also hard to get to and a major risk of dying in, seeing that they are in the Temple of
Luukos"
Issigrii says, "with the new treasure system then the treasure should go up if it's
minimal now, since it's based on age to start./"
Tsalin says, "Alright, that makes sense"
Tsalin says, "Another question about box-founds"
Issigrii asks, "Do you have problems with crowds in soul golems?"
Tsalin says, "No, no problem with crowds"
Issigrii says, "Isn't that a plus then. ;)"
Tsalin says, "Yes, but sometimes soulies do not come too often"
Tsalin asks, "Box-founds- Can you get a box-found item from a creature you do not
learn from?"
Issigrii says, "No."
Issigrii says, "You have to get experience from the kill of the critter to find an item."
Tsalin says, "hehe, that basically means no more box found items for me"
Issigrii says, "That was done shortly after unique items were added, to get the lords
back out of hobgoblins. :)"
Tsalin says, "Good point...maybe it should be based on an age scale, not on whether
you learn or not"
Tsalin says, "Obviously lords should not be in hobgoblins for treasure"
Issigrii says, "There are critters over level 100 now, yer not that old.."
Tsalin says, "Really? Where do they live Tsalin says, "Oldest critter I have found to be common are fire elementals"
Issigrii says, "yeah, they should have been in the spider temple, which was the
highest level at the time, but considered impossible to kill the things there. ;)"
Tsalin says, "I been lookin on the top of the world for the ice elementals, but I only
find tigers and such"
Issigrii says, "Now we have 10th level sorcs hunting there."
Tsalin says, "Yes, more areas should be made harder for young people...like wind
wraiths"
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Tsalin says, "Wind wraiths are very hard for a young person to hunt seeing that the
call wind dispels you and knocks you down with a long stun"
Tsalin says, "Nope"
Tsalin says, "You said there were 100 year old critters"
Tsalin says, " Issigrii says, "I think so."
Tsalin says, "And have you ever seen them all together in an area"
Tsalin says, "I haven't"
Tsalin says, " Issigrii says, "errrr, okay, so those aren't in quite yet."
Issigrii coughs.
Issigrii shifts his weight.
Tsalin says, "hehe"
Tsalin says, "All the older critters have little treasure now"
Tsalin says, "Not all, but most"
Issigrii says, "well, right around the corner there will obviously be 100+ critters. :)"
Tsalin says, "Definetly needed"
An earth dragon just arrived!
Tsalin says, "Aschren whispers, "ask him if he'll put items in boxes for all of us that
have legended and never found one Tsalin says, "ooh, a dragon"
Issigrii winks.
Tsalin asks, "That a look at the future?"
Issigrii says, "no, I just made it up. ;)"
Tsalin says, "I learn from soulies, pyros, thraks, lava golems and fire
elementals.......none of them carry great treasure cept for pyros maybe, I can't kill em"
Tsalin says, "Issigrii, most of my questions are coming from other people Tsalin says, "Red-Scaled Thraks that is"
Issigrii says, "well, treasure will be changed, but there are pluses to non-treasure
critters. The one I mentioned is a big one, less crowds. People hunting them are hunting
just for experience. That isn't really a bad thing."
Tsalin says, "It just seems the older you get, the less rich stuff there is"
Issigrii says, "Other people can ask there questions. ;)"
Tsalin says, "ok ok"
Tsalin says, "I say banshees and wind wraiths should carry treasure"
Tsalin says, "yep yep"
Tsalin says, " Tsalin says, "Ok, I'm done, thanks all"
Issigrii smiles at Tsalin.
Having finished addressing the assembly Tsalin sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Azaer, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Azaer says, 'Is perception a determining factor in finding treasure on
creatures and items in boxes? Also I this goes with treasure I believe, but will Trading
skill ever be worth anything? Or is it worth it only at the highest levels of training if at
all? And will it be recognized at merchents like it should?'"
Issigrii says, "trading is used by many merchants to lower prices."
Azaer says, "Merchents in town, aye, but you see a barely percivable price change."
Azaer says, "The jugg and other merchents most trading was non-existant"
Issigrii says, "I can't say anywhere that it may be used...but can say we try to use
whatever unique skills player's have like that when we can."
Azaer asks, "What about the perception question?"
Issigrii says, "I can't answer that. :)"
Azaer says, "ahh Ok got a couple more then."
Issigrii says, "I will say that perception doesn't have any effect on you finding a
unique item in a chest."
Issigrii says, "okay ask while I grab a coffee refill. :)"
Azaer asks, "Ok got that one then. I also have heard many rumors and such about crit
weighting and weighting in box found items, will there still be a possiblility of finding
crit weighted weapons since it seems they will no longer be sold?"
Issigrii says, "crit weighted weapons have always been able to be found as unique
items."
Azaer asks, "I knew that, but I mean since they are no longer being sold will they at
least be found?"
Azaer says, "still."
Azaer says, "Ok and last question, a couple of us were wondering where you keep
your 45 since yer neekid? Issigrii says, "The "no longer" isn't accurate by the way. ;)"
Azaer says, "oh really? Hmmm"
Issigrii says, "I'm not nekkid, I have alot of fur."
Having finished addressing the assembly Azaer sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Shadowpuck, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Shadowpuck says, 'Looooooong time no see Issigri. Is it true that ther
will be no more weighted weapons for sale by merchants?'"
Shadowpuck says, "Hello Issigri. Its been a while."
Issigrii says, "Like I just said, the no longer isn't accurate."
Shadowpuck says, "::nod::"
Issigrii says, "When breakage is put back in where we have turnover again, more
powerful weapons and armor will be sold."
Shadowpuck says, "That will be good, more 7x shields"
Shadowpuck says, "}:-)"
Issigrii says, "And 7X shields breaking. :)"
Shadowpuck asks, "When will breakage be brought back?"
Issigrii says, "I can't give a date as to when."
Shadowpuck asks, "All right. will there be any way to fix a broken weapon?"
Shadowpuck asks, "Like lockpicks?"
Issigrii says, "there will be both damage and outright breakage, at least that's the plan
now....and I don't see it changing."
Shadowpuck says, "All right Issigri, thats it I guess, I wont drag me questions out like
some people did. I know how it is to wait, especially cause its gettin late, I hope we can
have a talk sometime soon again"
Issigrii smiles at Shadowpuck.
Shadowpuck says, "::wave::"
Having finished addressing the assembly Shadowpuck sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Telgrin, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Telgrin says, 'Is there any place where we can get a list of alteration
info?'"
Issigrii asks, "What kind of info?"
Telgrin asks, "Well is there someone to speak to for bluk info, on prices, and types
you can have done?"
Issigrii asks, "bluk?"
Issigrii says, "orice is up to the merchant who is doing the alteration."
Issigrii says, "price too"
Telgrin says, "Ok"
Telgrin says, "I think I got a answer for what I was asking"
Issigrii says, "as for types, what is allowed has to be reasonable for the item, has to be
in genre for the game, has to be appropriate for a family game."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Telgrin sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Kivsha, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Kivsha says, 'what are the limitations of what an alterer can do? (i.e.
materials, descriptions) '"
Issigrii says, "as for types, what is allowed has to be reasonable for the item, has to be
in genre for the game, has to be appropriate for a family game."
Issigrii smiles at Kivsha.
Kivsha says, "is it possible fer example to make something into say veil iron armor"
Issigrii says, "not likely...maybe a special merchant would do that that dealt in
magical armors."
Issigrii says, "Most alterations are just description changes."
Kivsha says, "I see"
Kivsha asks, "so changing materials is not possible?"
Issigrii says, "It shouldn't be. You could add a metal to an existing armor, but you
couldn't change what the original armor was made from."
Kivsha asks, "what about altering a script?"
Issigrii asks, "scipt?"
Issigrii says, "if you mean an item that does something special, that usually wouldn't
be done."
Issigrii says, "You might change how it looked, but you wouldn't want to change the
special property of it (what I'm taking is meant by script)"
Kivsha says, "err... that's what i meant by alteration"
Issigrii nods.
Kivsha says, "by script i meant like when you turn these cloakpin things"
Issigrii says, "There's a singing sword script, you could change the looks of the sword
it is on, but you wouldn't change the script."
Kivsha says, "::glances at his cloakpin:"
Kivsha says, "oh ok"
Issigrii says, "Changing the script would change everyone who had an item that used
that script."
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Kivsha asks, "getting back to the original question though, if i would provide the
material then it could be used in the alteration?"
Kivsha says, "such as a veil iron lockpick"
Issigrii says, "one might plate the lockpick with viel iron if you did."
Kivsha says, "I meant use the lockpick as the material for something else"
Issigrii says, "you would need a lot of lockpicks to melt down to make an armor. ;)"
Kivsha says, "some armors are fairly light"
Issigrii says, "that would be up to a merchant to do that though."
Kivsha says, "ah ok, that is all"
Issigrii says, "a merchant could take items, melt them down, and make armor out of it
if they wanted though."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Kivsha sits back down.
Issigrii says, "Sassee says, 'Does perception have anything to do with what you find
off a critter?'"
Issigrii says, "I can't say what skills give what results. :)"
Issigrii says, "Sassee says, 'Does perception have anything to do with what you find
off a critter?'"
Issigrii says, "errr"
Issigrii nods to Xathar, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Xathar says, 'Issigrii, is there a possibility to get more sanctified blunt
weapons for clerics. There are many edged ones, but not many blunt and tis hard to find a
good blunt one.'"
Issigrii says, "The best way is to find a merchant that sanctifies weapons."
Xathar asks, "Is it true also that ball and chains AvD is being lowered?"
Xathar says, "I think a ball and chain would be a pretty powerful weapon..."
Issigrii says, "That's combat, and would be Banthis' area. My area is saying a ball and
chain is an allowed name for a weapon here. :)"
Xathar says, "Alright."
Xathar says, "Um, Sassee needs to speak too."
Issigrii says, "I know. :)"
Xathar says, "Besides that was just hoping for more blunt sancts.."
Xathar says, "But, thank thee for the help."
Issigrii nods.
Issigrii says, "I'll make a mental note of that and see if we can't sell some the next
merchant event. ;)"
Having finished addressing the assembly Xathar sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Sassee, who stands up to address the assembly.
Sassee says, "thanks, I just wanted to rub a nekked body"
Sassee says, "NO, really waht I wanted"
Sassee says, "I know you said perception had nothing to do what you found in a box"
Sassee asks, "but would it help you find the box to begin with?"
Issigrii says, "no, I said I couldn't say if it did. ;) Only that it didn't have anything to
do with a unique item being found in a box"
Sassee asks, "do any spells, such as 402, help with searching?"
Issigrii says, "It would depend on the situation."
Sassee asks, "could other skills other than perception help?"
Issigrii asks, "Things make sense and are as reasonable as possible here. Let me ask
you this, if you kill a kobold and search it, could you possibly miss it carrying something
as large as a chest?"
Sassee says, "I should hope not"
Sassee says, "But I never know what the gods have in mind"
Issigrii asks, "okay. now, does your perception have any bearing on the contents of
that chest you couldn't miss?"
Sassee says, "If they can make lil kobs and hobs have 1000 coins, and have fire
elementals have nothing of value, that doesn't make sense to me"
Sassee says, "I should hope not. I would like to think the random items the critters
have were random before they were even searched"
Sassee says, "but that isn't the case"
Issigrii says, "the critters have some items when they are "genned", and other items
are made when the critter is searched."
Sassee asks, "ok, so we now level of hunter vs level of critter have something to do
with that, and other skills/spells may come into play also?"
Sassee says, "err know"
Sassee says, "ribbit"
Issigrii says, "In most cases it doesn't. The unique item situation was changed after
unique items started to go out, simply because it was unfair to those of level to hunt
hobgoblins, not being able to because Lords were swatting them like flies."
Issigrii says, "except for that, player level has nothing to do with what is found on a
critter."
Sassee says, "Yes, that's right. Just for unique items. Well, thank you so much foryour
time here to answer our questions."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Sassee sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Gahlin, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Gahlin says, 'Why don't you reduce the amount of treasure overall to
increase rarity of items and silvers. Silvers are literally worthless now-a-days, and only
few items can be considered rare.'"
Gahlin says, "No surprise tha' I'm the first person tonight to ask for you to reduce
treasure"
Gahlin says, " Gahlin says, "I think treasure is way too common"
Issigrii says, "A big reduction in treasure wouldn't be fair to those who came into the
game later, and give older players who accumulated alot of wealth a big advantage."
Gahlin asks, "Then ye should reduce it slowly?"
Issigrii says, "there are alot of other factors here. breakage was a big one, there was a
time you were constantly replacing a +20 shield."
Gahlin says, "Aye, I know"
Gahlin says, "But at this time, no breakage..things are lost due to decaying people"
Gahlin says, "are not I mean"
Issigrii says, "that's another one."
Gahlin says, "The lands gain tons, and lost little"
Issigrii says, "Item loss is almost non-existant now."
Gahlin says, (nod) Very true"
Gahlin says, "I've never been much to care about wealth..generally I have no more
than 100k"
Issigrii smiles at Gahlin.
Gahlin says, "and I, along with other people I know who feel the same, live very
well"
Gahlin says, "and people no longer look to Wizards for enchanting"
Gahlin says, " Gahlin says, "Merchants sell too much"
Issigrii says, "Another change that affects this, there is no limit to items carried now.
For those who don't know, there was a 20 item limit for a player for a long time, so
buying or getting alot of items wasn't a big thing, you had to choose carefully what you
wanted. With no limit on number of items you can carry, people want to buy/have more
things."
Gahlin says, "Aye, the 20 item limit wasn't too bad really"
Issigrii says, "Most would say merchants don't sell enough. ;)"
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Gahlin asks, "Is there any set limit on how much they sell?"
Issigrii says, "depends on the item. "
Gahlin says, "Aye"
Issigrii says, "higher plus items, items we want to keep unique/special, we would
limit the quantities sold. Something that doesn't matter, we'd sell as many as player's
wanted to buy"
Gahlin says, "Tha's perty much it.."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Gahlin sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Chisandra, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Chisandra says, 'On the matter of skins, not all people hunt for the
silvers. I hunted mares for favor and experience. If I managed to skin them, then great.
But I saw many older people hunting mare, steeds and nightmares for the silvers. Why
can't there be a way to not punish those who are not abusing the system?'"
Issigrii says, "By taking away the "cash hunting" angle, then it makes it fair to those
who would hunt them normally."
Chisandra says, "Aye, but then you had the people who abused it and made fortunes
off it. Twas a bit frustrating to see it happen is all."
Issigrii says, "that wasn't intended when skins were designed. there are alot of things
that happen that we didn't realize would happen with a system"
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Chisandra says, "How were they designed then? I'm afraid I dont' understand."
Issigrii says, "they were designed to get silver, as a bonus, not as a means to make a
fortune."
Issigrii says, "considering first aid is what helps so much with skinning, I assume also
to help empaths get silver."
Chisandra says, "That answers my question then. Thank you."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Chisandra sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Khroz, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Khroz says, 'Can you break 'special' items while bashing boxes?'"
Issigrii says, "Not that I know of, no."
Khroz says, "ok"
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Khroz says, "well.. I have a few other questions"
Khroz says, "first.."
Khroz says, "you have talked about the new system involving distruibution of
treasure for the age and level and such of the critter"
Issigrii nods.
Khroz asks, "will this take away from the current treasure of some critters, ie.
Silverback orcs?"
Issigrii says, "if they are overhunted, yes."
Khroz says, "I missed half of this forum so I might have missed that question"
Khroz says, " Khroz says, "another personal question"
Khroz asks, "do you have any kinda clue on what is going to go out.. like race or
profession oriented items?"
Issigrii says, "With the current system silverback orcs might have alot of treasure and
somewhat easy to kill, while a critter about that same level is much harder to kill and
have less treasure. With the new system, that silverback orc treasure would move toward
the other critter that's hard to kill, and add value to the critter to make it worth hunting."
Khroz asks, "when you say 'overhunting' do you take into account people older than
the critters level and the percent of area the critters inhabit compared to those of same or
close to same level?"
Issigrii asks, "race and profession oriented items are rare, simply because what's the
difference in an elf swinging a broadsword than a human?"
Khroz says, " Issigrii says, "age of who hunts makes no difference. that would make it unfair to
empaths for instance, who hunt below their level because they have too."
Issigrii says, "just how often a critter is killed, compared to those in levels around it."
Khroz says, " "
Issigrii asks, "that it?"
Khroz says, "so if people who are say.. 20 levels over a critter, they get kind of an
advantage then those who can barely hunt it.."
Khroz says, "if age doesnt matter"
Khroz says, "just broght to me attention about overhunting and that part of the
system"
Issigrii says, "no advantage or disadvantage. the only thing that's disuades it is the
fact that overhunting will quickly devalue a critter...so a critter won't go months with
players 20 levels over it hunting, and squeezing out those of that critter's level from being
able to hunt it."
Khroz says, " Khroz says, "well.. thats all I kin think of.. thanks fer your info"
Having finished addressing the assembly Khroz sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Tiyah, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Tiyah says, 'with this "critter pressure" determining treasure amounts,
won't it just make the rich richer? I mean, if people can underhunt a "rich" critter enough
to pressure the treasure down, anyone trying to *earn* and learn suffers, while the older
underhunter, get's to move back up to his level if he so chooses . . .how drastic is this
"pressure" change going ta be and is it a system that fluxes hourly? daily?'"
Tiyah says, "sounds like we beatin a dead horse but it's important ;)"
Issigrii says, "look at the present situation. you're 20th, and the best critter around
20th as far as treasure goes you are squeezed out of hunting because there are always
going to be player "underhunting" for cash that critter."
Issigrii says, "it helps those hunting their level, simply because it prevents a long term
consistent cash cow at any level."
Tiyah says, "but how quick are the adjustments? people talk and word spreads
quickly ;)"
Issigrii says, "if they turn on one particular critter, the kill quickly goes up (when
underhunting you wipe them out pretty fast) and at the same time it's going down while
they are doing that, it's going to that other critter that you are hunting at your age."
Issigrii says, "immediate"
Tiyah says, "okay, thas good, now a quick one that hasn't been broght up"
Issigrii nods.
Tiyah says, "charm bracelets"
Tiyah exclaims, "they too heavy!!!"
Issigrii exclaims, "don't use lead charms!"
Issigrii flails his arms about.
Tiyah exclaims, "mine only has a few charms and weighs mo than my weapon!"
Tiyah says, "10 pounds??? umm err Issigrii says, "you don't have a charm bracelet."
Tiyah says, "well, okies ya got me, it's in my locker cause it's *heavy*! ;)"
Issigrii says, "ahh, it's because of the individual charms."
Tiyah says, "yuppers, but that don make sense tho"
Tiyah says, "charm shouldn't add up to weigh 10 pounds"
Issigrii says, "We are working on something that takes size into consideration. So a
charm bracelet won't encumber you as much, but those who carry 30 stuffed animals
around with them will have problems."
Tiyah says, "but fer the time being the bracelet is gonna live in the locker eh? I mean
I luv em, but I want to live and wear em ;.)"
Issigrii says, "remember, for the first 7 years of GemStone, the 20 item limit meant
there was no real concern about total weight. So there are things that we have to design
in, that no one thought of for a long time."
Tiyah says, "thas all dear thank ya"
Having finished addressing the assembly Tiyah sits back down.
Issigrii says, "One thing to remember about changes here, and why they sometimes
seem to take to long to players..."
Issigrii says, "GemStone is not a single program. It is really more so made up of
thousands of programs, that all have to run together without problems, or conflicts."
Issigrii says, "so a change to something major can take alot of work to make sure it
won't cause problems, like eat the game. :)"
Issigrii says, "And yes, that's happened at least once."
Issigrii coughs.
Issigrii nods to Praytus, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Praytus says, 'why have merchants seemingly put a cap the
enchantments of sanctafied weapons? None will go beyond 5x to my knoweldge'"
Issigrii says, "Because sanctified weapons are more powerful than a normal weapon.
That applies to anything, like crit weighting for instance."
Issigrii says, "powerful, valuable, however you want to look at it."
Praytus says, "aye... but it seems like sanctafied weapons are getting the shaft"
Praytus says, "and... with the new holy bless you added, most clerics would rather
have a 5x blessabe vultite falchion then a 5x sanctafeid"
Praytus says, "personally, I would rather have 5x and holy crits then 5x sanctafied...
Sanctafied weapons seem to be very limited"
Issigrii says, "there are always both side to that issue though, if we make higher plus
sanctified weapons, then there is the half of the population that will say we made too
many, and ruined the value of those out there now."
Praytus says, "only a handful have any type of weighting or crits"
Issigrii says, "the last merchant I allowed doing flares to holy weapons actually, since
it is something that is currently rare."
Praytus says, "but why do merchants not limit say, takin a fel-hafter to 8x, but an
eonake waraxe ken not go beyond 5"
Issigrii says, "because of the total properties of the weapon."
Praytus says, "surely that is more of an inbalance then the weak cleric who ken only
single in weapons from hunting with others his age with twice the attack"
Issigrii says, "a +40 holy weapon is alot more in value than a +40 regular weapon of
the same type"
Issigrii says, "maybe, but the others side will say you have an advantage being able to
repel and search a creature they can't get any treasure off when they kill and it
immediately poofs."
Praytus says, "aye... that bring my next question"
Praytus says, "in reguards to skins"
Praytus says, "most every profession has a way to make money"
Praytus says, "box pixking, embedding, enchantin, etc..."
Praytus says, "and those have not been hurt... "
Praytus says, "but by taking away the value of skins, you have hurt the clerics an
empaths... as their main source of funds"
Praytus says, "it strikes me as funny that after 10 years or so... "
Praytus says, "one person I know of decides to hunt for 24 straight hours in mares an
makes a ton and then poof..."
Praytus says, "you spoke before of inbalance to newew players..."
Issigrii says, "Professions are more than "they can do so and so and we can't", it's also
"we can do so and so and they can't""
Praytus exclaims, "will everyone please stop whispering to me!"
Praytus says, "but by lowering the value of skins, you have takin away a source of
money that older players had"
Praytus says, "now I am forced to repel 20 years younger then me to make silver"
Praytus says, "which... you say is going to change"
Praytus asks, "also with skins... will how hard something is to skin (ie tomb wights vs
rats) effect how valuabel the skin is?"
Issigrii asks, "You can only hunt alone?"
Praytus says, "yes... but then I get weighted down by boxes after 2... and have to
leave while the professions that ken holds a ton of boxes and still cast go for hours..."
Praytus says, "which... as point of fact, are the same professions that ken make silver
by enchanting/embedding..."
Issigrii says, "Then I would suggest finding a friend that is a thief, and you give them
spells for protection, and they will open your boxes, and share any wealth, and you would
be able to keep hunting."
Praytus says, "I look at the people who I know have a ton of silver... and they are of
the same profession"
Issigrii says, "You can make experience by rezzing."
Praytus says, "That's a joke... if you have seen the rezzing business lately, it needs
more help then the treasure syste,m I assure you"
Praytus asks, "but my skin question?"
Issigrii says, "this is a multi-player game, and we aren't going to design clerics, or any
other profession, (at leat not intentionally) to be able to do it all themselves."
Praytus says, "the question was balance against all the older players... "
Praytus says, "who could make 10 mil a day under the crypt"
Issigrii says, "I answered that, I told you how you could make silver. You're trying to
put this in the situation of hunting alone...you don't have too."
Praytus says, "and did"
Praytus says, "no... I mean the value of skins"
Praytus asks, "does how hard something is to skin effect is value as well?"
Issigrii says, "You said skins were the only means you had to make silver, they
aren't."
Praytus says, "tomb wights vs rats say"
Issigrii says, "Skins will be changed to that effect, yes. older harder and more
valuable, overselling a skin will lower the value when sold, when skinning, skill will help
with the value of the skin you get, so empaths with alot of first aid benefit."
Praytus asks, "do you have any plans to do anything about unique/special items that
sit in lockers?"
Issigrii says, "We aren't going to take away player's items, no ;)"
Praytus says, "for example... I know of one person who has an 8x permablessed, 2
god auction, and one other unique that all sit in a locker..."
Praytus says, "you limit the number of special items, but seems kinda wrong that a
handful of players have them all and never use them"
Praytus says, "you also said that a player can not get a unique item from a critter he
can not learn from..."
Issigrii says, "and it wouldn't be wrong to tap player's on the shoulder and say "You
haven't used these items for months, we're taking them away""
Praytus asks, "does the converse work true? For example, do I have a greate chance
of I hunt 50 years above me vs my age?"
Issigrii says, "no, you either can or can't."
Praytus says, "I was thinkin more like weapons rusting after not being used for a year
or so..."
Praytus says, "greater chance of finding a unique that is"
Issigrii asks, "Any other questions?"
Praytus says, "yes..."
Praytus asks, "answer my last one?"
Issigrii asks, "I've answered, what was the next question?"
Praytus asks, "you answered the question about unique items vs age of myself and
monster?"
Issigrii says, "I said you either could or couldn't, there was nothing else"
Praytus says, "ok... last one"
Praytus says, "do you have any plans of adding more critters on Teras that give
treasure? There seems to be so few"
Issigrii says, "There will always be critters added throughout the game, and some will
have treasure. :)"
Having finished addressing the assembly Praytus sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Mordreade, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Mordreade says, 'We really need a system that allows more measuring
of weighting and padding by players...too much scamming going on now. Also a larger
base of trinket magic items (crystals, statues) would be nice. Nothing was added to
replace all the one's taken away.'"
Mordreade says, "I've comments about breakage and treasure proposal as well"
Issigrii says, "whenever I've removed anything from treasure, I've added a
replacement."
Mordreade says, "granite triangles, red crystals etc..."
Issigrii says, "weighting and padding measurement is something that is being
discussed and will be implemented in some fashion eventually"
Issigrii nods.
Mordreade says, "I wasn't aware anything replaced them"
Mordreade says, "Myabe Im wrong"
Mordreade says, "ahh"
Mordreade says, "A point about breakage...this will make the poorer folks poorer and
the richer folks richer. Merchant players and wizards will be able to sell more and at
higher prices and mages of all sorts will barely be touched by breakage (since they don't
get hit or use weapons much). Arms users will be the only one's really hurt by this."
Issigrii says, "I removed them, I replaced them with something at the same time. I
think those two might have been white flasks and the black stones? that generate a disk"
Issigrii says, "black crystal replaced the red crystal"
Mordreade says, "Ok, I was wrong about that, a few new one's would be nice though"
Issigrii says, "If a mage is holding a shield, then when the mage doesn't get hit, the
shield could be what got hit, and break."
Mordreade says, "shields only break if the beast can touch the DS I suspect whiperin'
folks"
Mordreade says, "Ok"
Issigrii says, "no. when you don't get hit, there is the chance the swing hit a shield you
used."
Mordreade says, "ok, that's something at least"
Mordreade says, "I've some serious reservations with your proposed treasure change.
"
Issigrii says, "a wizards spell's cover him, not his shield really."
Mordreade says, "1) Will zero treasure carrying critters be factored into the formula?
If they are, treasure given out will go down a lot. As these critters will see the highest
boost too their treasure, which of course will be meaningless."
Issigrii says, "of course not."
Mordreade says, "ok"
Mordreade says, "2) Voln members many times have limited creatures to hunt. So
undead, I suspect, often would rate as highly hunted making voln members very poor."
Issigrii says, "The voln member doesn't have to hunt undead."
Mordreade says, "That's not going to fly with the Voln order"
Mordreade says, "telling Voln folks not to hunt undead"
Issigrii says, "hunting for experience or treasure is a choice, and so is hunting for
favors."
Mordreade says, "Voln member should be able to do both at once."
Mordreade says, "3) To say that the amount of treasure given out will not change is
not believable. If the only reason folks hunted one critter over another was booty, then
the system would be fine. "
Mordreade says, "But people don't hunt creatures because they are too tuff, or boring,
or they simply gen too slowly too support more then a couple hunters."
Mordreade says, "This will not change. Many areas gen rates are tied to the # of folks
hunting there. This system will lead to 100's of dirt poor critters and a few rich ones.
Most folks will get little or nothing for hunting while a few get rich."
Issigrii says, "you're saying that because someone is a member of vuln, they should
be able to both hunt for favors, and get the best treasure. that's partial to voln members."
Mordreade says, "I'm not a voln member"
Mordreade says, "But that is a major blow to Voln"
Mordreade says, "Lastly your system will lead to fights as folks who have been
hunting in an area tell new arrivals to leave so they don't destroy the treasure value of the
monsters and it will offer an unfair monetary advantage to folks who can play during off-
peak hours."
Issigrii says, "If a critter is underhunted because it's more powerful for it's level, then
it should generate more treasure for those that take the extra effort to hunt it. That makes
sense."
Issigrii says, "people fight over a critter or spot now, so it won't be new. ;)"
Mordreade says, "It would be far worse though"
Issigrii says, "No it's not, player's don't own a hunting ground, and if they try to,
they'll soon not be around to hunt that critter."
Mordreade says, "How would you balance this with all the different gen rates?
Critters with larger areas and gen more will naturally die more often then things that gen
once a blue moon. "
Issigrii says, "there is no real change here that you're trying to create. we already
HAVE richer critters in a level group, the new system isn't going to change that, it's just
going to move them around. "
Mordreade says, "They don't own a hunting ground true, but now when someone asks
"Mind if I hunt here?" Most folks say sure! Your system would give them a definate
reason to say "Get lost""
Issigrii says, "gen rates are tied to number of players there, the gen rates are slow
because no one is there to hunt the critter. Put 20 players there, and they'll gen well in
most cases."
Issigrii asks, "How? If the present critter is rich, people are going to say you can't
join?"
Mordreade says, "I don't believe all critters are that way...vruul gen very slowly no
matter how many folks it seems to me."
Mordreade says, "They are going to say that they'd rather you hunted elsewhere, they
will be less inclined to be friendly"
Issigrii says, "Nothing is taken away here, only moved around more, so a single
critter isn't always in demand, and another goes unhunted. Even as that single player
hunts a critter, the treasure moves."
Mordreade says, "I don't agree, what wi;; happen is the creatures who are being
hunted will be poor and the critter sitting alone somewhere will be rich."
Mordreade says, "err will"
Issigrii says, "if you have two players, and they each hunt two different critters, then
the treasure remains exactly even between the two critters, and neither has an advantage.
If they both hunt one, then the treasure moves to the other, and they can then both go
hunt the other critter"
Issigrii says, "this is an average system, no one is going to be able to keep a critter
wealthy"
Issigrii says, "that's true...so the player just needs to find that unhunted critter ;)"
Mordreade says, "Not everyone can hunt all the critters, some folks are limited in
what they can hunt and they would be very poor becuase of this change"
Issigrii says, "that's not true."
Mordreade says, "This favors folks who can hunt at 5am and who maximized there
characters for power...folks with weaknesses get the shaft"
Issigrii says, "time of day has nothing to do with treasure ;)"
Mordreade says, "Ok, that's fine. I've made my point...perhaps others can follow up
for me."
Issigrii nods.
Mordreade says, "Not true, less folks mean no crowding"
Having finished addressing the assembly Mordreade sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Gespry, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Gespry says, 'well, i agree with the down-tweeking of pelts cause of
game imbalance, but then right after that, they tweeked the gen rates such that they don't
even swarm anymore, making cash hunting for skins even less likely cause of crowds. so,
what i'm asking when is this supposed new system gonna be implimented? expected, that
is?, next month? 6 months? a year?'"
Issigrii says, "treasure fairly soon...the skins I haven't even started working on yet."
Gespry asks, "i know you have to set it up, so it don't eat the game up...but when can
we expect this?"
Issigrii says, "We don't give dates. :)"
Issigrii says, "I haven't really worked out anything specific with skins yet, just a
general idea."
Issigrii closes the question box.
Gespry says, "okies..about what i expected from that..now about this pile up of
treasure...i live on teras..about the only thing not really hunted is lava golems...don't
expect to see them start carrying all the treasure cause everything else is hunted to
extinction"
Issigrii says, "the highest level critters aren't going to be effected by this as much,
since there isn't as many other critters to spread the wealth. It's the lower levels where the
treasure needs to be spread around the most, that it will effect."
Gespry says, "okies...one other question then,.,....trying to ignore this mass of
whispers flying at me.."
Gespry says, "got a side question, orientated to merchants and special sold items: i.e.
black tower shields (limited quality sold) is there anyway to limit say the purchases of
these rather specail items to say 1 per person..seem everytime a merchant shows up
selling these items, someone goes along and buys half the stock, leaving others who
could afford the price not able to get one cause they are then sold black market style for
2x the price"
Issigrii says, "I'm working on that. :)"
Gespry says, "i've now twice showed up within minutes of that merchant showing up,
to find someone bought the last 7 shields"
Having finished addressing the assembly Gespry sits back down.
Issigrii says, "okay, I'm going to move through what's left on the questions list.
whoever is up can have one follow up question, so I can try to get all that are left."
Issigrii nods to Aemergin, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Aemergin says, 'Regarding bardic instruments - will there be a new
skill to learn, or will ability be based on character stats?'"
Issigrii asks, "That's not treasure, it's falls under spells really, so I can't say. You have
another question?"
Aemergin says, "Sorry about that question .. wasn't sure what was goin' on in here
when I entered Issigrii nods.
Aemergin says, "Ahh .. no .. no other questions."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Aemergin sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Kilrathe, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Kilrathe says, 'can you elaborate a little bit on breakage? like can armor
be damaged if hit too many times, or can a shield, etc?'"
Issigrii says, "each time a weapon or armor is hit, it could be damaged. a little, a lot,
so bad it snaps."
Kilrathe says, "will there be places to repair them"
Issigrii says, "I'm not doing the work on breakage, so I don't know that much about it.
I do know it's mostly going to be damage that can be repaired, but there is the chance of
outright breakage and unrepairable."
Having finished addressing the assembly Kilrathe sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Maati, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Maati says, 'Why is it next to impossible to get something altered, i
only want one a pair of nice boots? I know we want to keep things rare but the way it is
now is ridiculous, I pay high taxes to live in the lands Id like to have something special
made for me'"
Issigrii says, "You just have to find a merchant that alters. We have no way of
guaranteeing a player to be able to have an item done at a certain time, there are too
many plauyers."
Issigrii asks, "You have a follow up question?"
Maati says, "Quite Frankly i feel that me older sister deserves an alteration for having
to wait this long for question to be addressed almost 3 hours--why are the lists so short
and can anything be done to avoid those using scripts"
Having finished addressing the assembly Maati sits back down.
Issigrii says, "I don't think it's scripts...all you have to do is repeat the question, which
can be done with the FE easily by just hitting the UP ARROW to repeat a line."
Issigrii says, "Nothing about the question setup would be skewed toward any
particular player. It can just save only so many pending questions. :)"
Issigrii nods to Ninque, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Ninque says, ''Are there plans to increase the variety of gems or to
include raw ore to be found on critters or boxes?'"
Issigrii says, "when a new land opens, like teras, we might make a whole new set of
gems for that area. raw ore is something that has been talked about, also being able to use
present material in weapons to make new ones. There is a forging system being worked
on now, that I think has been open to some players for a while now."
Issigrii asks, "You have a followup?"
Ninque says, "Are there plans for merchants to add 'special abilities' to existing
items/weapons? By abilities, I mean similar to those sold in auctions.."
Having finished addressing the assembly Ninque sits back down.
Issigrii says, "sometimes a merchant will sell weapons with a special ability like that,
and put them in a number of different weapons. The ones at the special auctions tend to
be the most powerful, because they are auctions, and rare. It lets them hold their value
and uniqueness"
Issigrii nods to Gaale, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Gaale says, 'Whats wrong with the creatures in Icemule? I know
legends used to hunt the Rolaren gate but the way every single creature in the Trace is
dropping treasure now is real bad. Can I expect to see changes?'"
Issigrii says, "with the new treasure system, definitely. Icemule critters would likely
be underhunted compared to critters in Winheimers for instance. Of course this may
mean more people settle in Icemule, and even it out some."
Issigrii asks, "follow up question?"
Gaale says, "hmm... ok that sounds good to me.... umm. Any idea if it will be on the
same scale as whenimers or if Icemule because of its younger age population will not get
as much as it usually is."
Having finished addressing the assembly Gaale sits back down.
Issigrii says, "if the population of players in icemule is lower, then the hunting
pressure on critters there would be lower, and they would be richer. the actual age of the
players doesn't affect it."
Issigrii nods to Murgin, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Murgin says, 'Any plans to add some more, and older, treasure stealing
creatures (like the gremlins)? While such creatures can be frustrating, they do add a
certain spice to the hunt;)'"
Issigrii says, "There will definitely be more unique critters like that in the future,
maybe not exactly the same though."
Murgin says, "Ok. Thanks, that's it for me."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Murgin sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Keeves, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Keeves says, 'issigrii how often do people get exp for ROLE-PLAYING
not roll-playing?'"
Keeves says, " Issigrii says, "As often as a GM sees them doing so. :)"
Keeves asks, " we have ereas that you have to be a certain level to hunt and other a
certain hieght. i have a Issigrii says, "If you hunt in groups, or in an area with a group of players, it's more
likely you will be seen. If you hunt alone, then less likely. GMs try to watch as many
players at once that they can."
Keeves says, "ok"
Having finished addressing the assembly Keeves sits back down.
Issigrii says, "Because they are hard to implement. A critter that might be hard for a
cleric of level 10 to hunt, might be a breeze for a warrior with a blessed weapon to hunt. I
have wanted to see a critter designed that would be attractive to single trainers in
weapons in some way. Maybe a critter for instance that an empath's spells would affect
well...IE, a healing spell would reverse and do that damage to a critter. lifegiving would
harm the same critter in some way...something that only a cleric or empath could do, and
actual physical attacks not be effective."
Issigrii nods to Rupyrt, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Rupyrt says, 'A more mundane question: will there be any changes, like
variety, in stock items, say, gems and those ever popular frumpy red cloaks?'"
Issigrii says, "yes...I need to add to those fluff treasure items when I have the time
too. We all need more stale muffins. :)"
Rupyrt asks, "Also, you spoke of item size eventually effecting encumburance -- will
locker capacity reflect the change?"
Issigrii says, "no. I mean "tiny" items. Right now everything weighs at least a pound
really. We've discussed something that takes into account tiny items, so they don't
encumber you as much...and could also containers that held them reasonably. Like a
small locket if we allowed a player to put an item in it, would still hold a normal dagger,
which doesn't make sense."
Having finished addressing the assembly Rupyrt sits back down.
Issigrii says, "It's just a change that isn't really easy, because it was something that
wasn't considered when the game was designed."
Issigrii nods to Ranthur, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Ranthur says, 'Since ranged weapons have been introduced I can only
remember one ranged weapon found thru the treasure system, will we be seeing more in
the future? Also I have noticed that the treasure room(hope you know where I am talking
about because I dont want to spoil it for others) no longer has boxies you can search
for,will it ever be restocked?'"
Issigrii says, "The room you're talking about still drops a box on occassion. ;) Since
ranged weapons are new, most GMs just haven't gotten into the habit of making them yet.
As they become more established, more will be made and put out."
Issigrii asks, "follow up?"
Issigrii peers quizzically at Ranthur.
Ranthur says, "anouther question, will we ever see something that prevents people
from buying items of limited quatitys just for resale...such as something that lets only
people that can use that skill buy them"
Having finished addressing the assembly Ranthur sits back down.
Issigrii says, "I know there is a problem overall with buying masses of items only to
resell, which leaves players that just want to buy one at a disadvantage if they get there
too late. Since I know it's a problem, I'll find a way of fixing it eventually. I wouldn't not
allow purchase because they can't use it though, people do buy gifts for others here, and
that wouldn't be fair."
Issigrii says, "or for their younger relatives. :)"
Issigrii nods to Effrimon, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Effrimon says, 'With the auto-adjust being implemented we could
possibly see the undead being practically penniless couldn't we?'"
Issigrii says, "treasure would only go down so far, it would be a lower limit on how
far it would go down. "
Issigrii says, "no critter is going to be penniless, if a critter carries less, the others that
level carry more, they go hunt them, sending the treasure back to the original critter."
Issigrii asks, "follow up?"
Effrimon says, "What folder do you wish discussions to continue in? Im no where
near done :::smile::::"
Issigrii says, "I don't think there is a folder. :)"
Issigrii says, "you can have a follow up"
Effrimon says, "I do have one, in regards to wraiths,,, "
Effrimon says, "there are 4 areas they can be hunted"
Effrimon says, "will one area being overhunted hurt the other 3"
Issigrii nods.
Issigrii says, "what matters is the critter being the same here."
Having finished addressing the assembly Effrimon sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Ghrzak, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Ghrzak says, 'the older hunter still has the advantage. they will hunt my
prey til the next level gets richer, then go there, and i'm stuck with the poor ones.'"
Issigrii says, "no, because nothing will stay rich if overhunted."
Issigrii asks, "'follow up?"
Ghrzak says, "staying rich is not the point. The point is thatthis system will not stop
the older players from hunting below their level."
Issigrii says, "of course it won't, it'll stop them from always being able to go to one
spot to hunt the richest critter for months on end."
Ghrzak says, "and thank y' fer yer time Issigrii says, "they can still hunt for cash below their level if they want. It will in no
way help give cash to critters their level though, since the lower level critter doesn't
affect the high level critter's cash."
Issigrii nods.
Having finished addressing the assembly Ghrzak sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Halomantis, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Halomantis says, 'are they ever going to reintroduce gleas spider
charms or where they a one time thing'"
Issigrii says, "they were a one time thing with the opening of the web."
Issigrii asks, "followup?"
Halomantis says, "sure if you could tell me please some of the ways to use those
spider charms"
Issigrii says, "I can't tell you how to use them, that's something the player has to
figure out, like a puzzle. sorry :)"
Having finished addressing the assembly Halomantis sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Artuero, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Artuero says, 'What is the all-time Elanthian/Kulthean record for silvers
found in one day? Also, will the new system allow for monsters to vary treasure based on
their characteristics (like a wind wraith not having a place to stow treasure?)'"
Issigrii says, "It seems to me last I looked, it was almost 1 billion silvers a week that
was being put out."
Issigrii says, "yes, if the critter can't carry a chest, then it won't gen one, and won't
affect the treasure distribution."
Issigrii asks, "follow up?"
Artuero says, "Yes..."
Artuero asks, "Can you perhaps go over how the system will work at higher levels?"
Artuero says, "Or any levels actually where there are few creatures"
Issigrii says, "higher levels without as many critters to spread wealth too, it won't
change as much. If it can't spread it anywhere because of lack of comparable treasure
genning critters, then it will always stay the same...and the original level will be based on
the critters level."
Artuero asks, "Is that true accross continents?"
Issigrii says, "it's all critters in the game that level, so regardless where the critter is,
it effects wealth for that critter."
Artuero asks, "Hehe, last question: Where do you get the patience?"
Issigrii says, "errr, I have none. I yell and scream all the time, no one ever sees that,
only my typing though. ;)"
Having finished addressing the assembly Artuero sits back down.
Issigrii nods to Dwai, who stands up to address the assembly.
Issigrii says, "Dwai says, 'So, if one area creates thirty critters in an hour, and another
area creates one critter in an hour, and all thirty-one critters are killed, there will be no
change in the distribution?'"
Dwai says, "If not, I know you said that gen rates go up when more people arrive.
Before the treasure changes, it'll be verified that, say, Castle Anwyn produce the same
number of creatures as all of Thanatoph, once Nonominos get the stone troll's treasure?
Thanks for both your patience and endurance."
Issigrii says, "number of people there, affect number genned, and then killed. it's total
kills for a critter compared to other critters near it's level in the whole game."
Issigrii asks, "'follow up?"
Dwai says, "Like I said, I know you said that gen rates go up when more people
arrive. We just don't believe you :). Before the treasure changes, it'll be verified that, say,
Castle Anwyn produce the same number of creatures as all of Thanatoph, once
Nonominos get the stone troll's treasure? Thanks for both your patience and endurance."
Dwai says, "Assuming all those folks move to the castle. I'm done bugging you now."
Issigrii says, "gen rates are tied to players in the area, that way the system gens
critters where needed, and doesn't where it's not needed, and hence saves resources."
Issigrii smiles.
Having finished addressing the assembly Dwai sits back down.
Issigrii says, "Thanks to everyone who attended. :)"
Issigrii opens the floor back up for general discussion.
Issigrii says, "I need to scoot to bed...I'm east coast, and have that pesky real life job
tomorrow. :)"
Issigrii says, "If there is enough intrest, I'll hold another forum on this same subject at
a later date, and announce it."
Issigrii exclaims, "mass hug!"
Issigrii hugs you.
Issigrii waves.
Issigrii just went out.
End.
The room is so full you can see nothing around you! The only thing that you can make out is the stage with a podium on it. A lone light shines down upon the podium.
Obvious exits: out.
