As you can see, I gave Aramis "the world" for his birthday. We are going to use the globe to make make-believe visits to anyplace on earth. Who knows...maybe someday, when Aramis' wings are big enough, we can visit them for real!

 This is Aramis' globe.

I no that Amethyst is not my real mom, but I am gowing to give her something for Mother's Day anyway, because she loves me. I would be really happy if she were my real mom. She is just as good as any real mom. I love Amethyst.

My sweet little Aramis gave me a present for Mother's Day. It is the loveliest garden I have ever seen. I am glad I make him happy. He will always be my own little dragon.

What a lovely garden! Thank you so much, Aramis. :)

I am happy Amethyst likes her garden. I know she likes living flowers better than cut ones, so I thot I would give her a garden. It is just in one pot, so we keep it on the windosil.

Happy Independence Day!
July 4th is almost here again, and Aramis is thrilled with the return of his friends, the fireworks. He wants a birthday cake this year--"for the U.S.A" he says, but I suspect the guest of honor will not be the one who eats it ;).

Aramis is shading himself from the hot summer sun in a bower of cool, green leaves. We have been learning a lot about other cultures and have had some interesting visitors, whose pictures we will place in the scrapbook as soon as they can be scanned in. I am really happy with the way Aramis has been learning to read.
I think he is also becoming much stronger. Perhaps his wings will start to grow big enough for flying soon!

Aramis' Journal
Now that I am one year and a have old, I can spell really good. I can use periods and commas. I read books every day, when I am not playing with my toys. I have read about a bat named Stellaluna, a dragon and a yunicorn who are friends, and a turtel named Timuthy. I have also read about holidays around the world. Someday I will go to see the festival of lights in India and the festival of dolls in Japan. I stretch my wings every day and hope I will be able to fly soon.
P.S. If you have traveled around the world, could you write to me about it?

Don't these leaves look shady and cool?

Now it is Autumn, and Aramis is restless. His wings are growing strong and he really wants to learn to fly. It is hot here, even in October, and sometimes Aramis and I miss the colors of autumn leaves we used to see up north. Still, the time is not right for us to fly. We can only stretch and exercise our wings and hope that the time will be right soon. In the meantime, we read a lot of books, and visit with some friends from far away places. I hope to have some of their pictures here soon.

Amethyst has been cooking all day. It smells so good! I can't wait until tomorrow, when we will eat all of this good food--turkey for Amethyst, yam and spinach pie for me, and vegetables, bread, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy for both of us. Dessert is supposed to be a surprise. I wonder what it will be?

Christmas is coming! Aramis and I could not be happier! Although this will be a very lean year, even harder than last year, we are still grateful; we still have plenty of food to eat (icluding cookies!), a warm home, friends--and best of all, the special night when we will celebrate the gift of Our Lord, who loves us so much.
Uncle Andy and I have come up with a little present for Aramis (Shh! Don't tell him!) Though we could not afford anything as special as last year, Aramis will at least have something new to play with on Christmas Day. I think he might be happy even without a new toy, since he loves his old ones so much and is enchanted by our little Christmas tree in the house, and the big one outdoors. But I like to see him unwrap something, and dance around the room when he sees what it is!

Aramis' Journal
I don't know which makes me more excited--the lights, the tree, the wreath, or our friend Jesus coming to visit again! I am so glad to have someone else who loves me as much as Amethyst. Amethyst says he loves me, and her, and everyone else even MORE than that--but that is kind of hard for me to imagine! Wow, what if it is really true?! No wonder we still celebrate his birthday after 2,000 years! At least, it will be 2,000 years next year.
I know that we are having trouble with money. Amethyst worries about it. I do not understand quite what money is, but I know it seems to cause a lot of trouble. Sometimes it means I do not get new toys or we do not go on trips to new places. I am not worried, though. Even if I don't have a new toy, I still have all my lights, my old toys (see how neat my old freight train is?), and my trees (in the house and outside!) and LOTS of yummy things for Christmas Dinner! And I always have Amethyst, who will always take care of me. :)
I am almost two years old and I really, really, want to fly. It was not so bad when my wings were tiny and I still needed to learn to read and write. But now that I can read and write and my wings are growing, I really want to do something new. Amethyst gets bored sometimes, too. She is waiting for something too, but I'm not sure what.

 Isn't our tree nice?

Merry Christmas!!
Aramis is very happy with his present--but I will let him tell you about it. I did not give it to him until after we were all done celebrating, because as you know, it is not good for a pet to join a family in the middle of the holidays. (OOps! I let the cat out of the bag!)
We are waiting for the New Year, not too worried, because we will have each other no matter what. :) I hope all of you have someone too, so you can be as lucky as we are here--Happy New Year, from Aramis, Uncle Andy, Mickey Bear, and me (the Amethyst Dragon.)

I don't know what to say! Stripey is the nicest kitten in the whole world, and I will love him and take care of him forever and ever! Thank you, Amethyst! Thank you, Uncle Andy! Thank you, Mickey bear!

Amethyst's Journal
Well, the New Year dawned pretty uneventfully for Aramis and me. We have settled into a routine here, of taking care of each other and of Stripey. Aramis is a very responsible little dragon. He feeds Stripey twice a day and makes sure his little kitten always has plenty of water. At night, Stripey sleeps at the foot of Aramis' bed.

Amethyst's Journal
It was a dark and stormy February!
We could not have a big birthday party outdoors, but Aramis enjoyed his cake and ice cream. He insisted that Stripey should get the birthday present, since "I already have enough toys" (his own words!) So Stripey got a bag of catnip, but Uncle Andy and Mickey couldn't bear to let Aramis go without a present, so they got together some lego bricks for him. He has built a little yellow house with them.
Aramis is used to bad weather because we used to live in Berkeley, but it is very new to poor Stripey, who doesn't like it one bit. But Aramis has been a very good little dragon, trying to make Stripey less afraid. I will let him tell you about it.

Aramis' Journal
Poor Stripey is afraid of lightning. It makes his fur crackle, and I think the sound of thunder must hurt his ears. I am careful not to touch Stripey during lightning, because his fur crackles and it shocks him. I make sure that he has a warm place to sleep, and I talk to him softly so that he is less scared.
It was really nice of Uncle Andy and Mickey to get me a present even when I didn't ask for one. Legos are fun!
P.S. Amethyst says this is "Leap Day", but I didn't see anyone leaping.
