The 1998-1999 Guard year has ended it's field season, and we are preparing for a great winterguard show. Our field show this year was absolutely amazing, under the direction of Guard God GAVIN MILLER, who is THE most wonderful and creative guard instuctor one could hope for. Our show was a Tribute to Fantasy Adventure Films, featuring the songs Conan the Destroyer, Willow, and lastly, Wizards and Warriors. We have beautiful costumes this year, which the entire guard really appreciates. We were, for the most part, only 6 people strong, but with our hard work and our devoted dedication to this sport of dance with weaponry, we have really proven ourselves, beating some amazing GOD guards. Congrats to us :)colorbar.gif (4535 bytes)

WAUCHULA'S MARCHING FESTIVAL!!!

*a few memories that shall never be forgotten by the 1998 field guard...*

All right :) we did the ever fun road trip up to Hardee County to compete against other smaller bands this Saturday, October 10th, 1998. The ride up there was fun, as it always is, and we were all really pepped up(the band, the guard, and the instructors). We got there and had just about an hour or so to warm-up before we performed. The guard seperated from the band, and we went to warm-up in the same place we always warm-up :) Warm-ups went as planned, Audrey was freaking out, Julie was nervous about the non-existant wind *smile* and everyone was determined to go out and give it their best shot. The performance went well, and that is probably an understatement, because when we were all finished, the whole guard seemed to congregate to the back of the field, hugging eachother and crying about what a great show we just had...an amazing feeling. The pictures were great, and for retreats, I took Audrey down with me. We totally freaked out when we got Distinguished Auxiliary with a score of 92!!! We all cried, and the look on Gavin's face up in the stands, and the reaction we got from the band, was more than anything any of us could've possibly wished for. In a state of complete elation, the guard went home from this competition with the best outlook for the year ahead then we have ever had previously. Guard, I love you all very much, thank you all for the hard-work and effort, and we will continue to show them all what our 6 members can do!!!!

Deerfield Invitational~ Our guard didn't do as well as in Wauchula's Festival, but we all had a pretty good time :) I don't even remember how well we placed, but, oh well :)

J.I. Leonard Invitational~ Once again, one heck of a performance! With a score of 93 points, our guard took the competition. We got the highest score (again) that Boca's ever seen, and we hope and plan to continue to do this well from this season on. A special thanx to Gavin Miller: You have brought out everything in us that we perform to everyone in the stands. You have molded us into a group of people who feel better about themselves, not only because of how well we are doing, but also because of your continual support of us as a guard and also as individual people, regardless of our ranking and scores. There is, in our opinion, no better guard instructor. Thank you for everything!

Santaluces Invitational~ We made second guard overall, beaten only by J.I. Leonard's guard by 3 points. This was a great performance for all the members, some of which were crying because they did so well :) I was very pleased with how this season has turned out...
