"It came from the Savage Land"

New York City, New York
May 18, 1998

Up above in the Ivory Towers of the city lurks the wealthy spender Kirby Moore. He likes to take risks. The one he's about to take will lead to certain difficulty.

Inside his office, Kirby calls a meeting of some of his favorite friends and workers.

"I've had it with this business stuff! There's nothing new to do! It's all boring. I've been thinking of going on a expedition.", Moore says.

"Where to?", a suit asks.

"To where no human has came back unscathed. Tierra Del Fuego otherwise known as the Antarctic.", Kirby replies.

Days, weeks pass and Moore with company are closing in on the Antarctic on a ship.

They shift to the frigid land and begin traveling across it. Eventually they come across a cave and enter for shelter froom the cold.

Night falls, as the travelers sleep until they are woke up by a screeching noise. They stumble to their feet looking for the source. Suddenly a creature flys out of the shadows and out of the cave.

"What was that?", shrieks Rachel.

Karl responds, "It looked like a giant bat."

"I never seen a bat as big as that.", says Richard.

"Wow. We ought to trap it.", says Kirby. "That would be a challenge."

The 5 others look at Kirby with a twisted look as if saying What the hell are you thinking?

"No way.", Richard says.

"You do have tranquilizers, don't you Richard?", Kirby looks at him and asks.

"Yes Boss.", Richard replies.

"The sooner we trap it, the sooner we all go home.", says Kirby.

They all nodd in agreement.

Their first plan is to wait until day light & sees if the creature returns to the cave.

The others sleep while Richard takes the first look out with the gun in his hand, while not noticing the entrance of one very not-so normal animal...a velciraptor. Upon seeing prey it hunches and makes a sound.

*Verrank* Richard gets to his feet slowly and recoils softly, readying the gun. The other five wake up at the sound of the predator and stumble to their feet. The women scream. And that's enough distraction for Richard to fire the tranqulizer that causes the Raptor to retreat.

"Good god man! How many tranquilizers do you have left?", Kirby asks him.

"Two, but now that would be one...", he replies.

Kirby walks over and wrestles the gun from his hand and walks over to Karl and hands him the gun asking, "You think you can save it for the creature?"

"I guess." (And he thinks, What an asshole!) He accepts the gun and stands watch for any other unwanted guests. Richard, Kirby and the other three go to sleep.

It isn't but three hours when Karl hears the screeching noise again. So he makes sure everything is ready and aims for the entrance. Waiting for the target. As the bat creature enters and flaps its wings high in the cave, Karl fires and hits it. "So much for a challenge." And the bat spirals down to the ground. He wakes the others.

"Good job Karl.", Kirby congratulates him. "Now let's tie him up and get out of here before we encounter anymore unwanted freaks."

Down in the ebony dungeon of the Ivory Tower belonging to Moore, is the bat creature caged conscious. It screeches loudly. An associate of Kirby yells to him, "CAN WE TALK OUTSIDE?", Kirby nodds, and they enter the hallway outside.

"What is it Troy?", he asks him.

"Well...I got to thinking, we ought to give the creature a name. The public would notice it more.", he states.

"You're right, we can't be calling it bat or creature forever. How does...Man-Bat sound to you?" --Kirby

"Well....it does have rather large wings, I was thinking along the lines of BatWing.", he suggests.

"That does have a nice ring to it...(looks at watch) time for a meeting...take care of BatWing until I get back.", Kirby says, and walks off.

"Sure thing boss...(Whispers to himself) and you will be too ...in all due time.", Troy says.

When Kirby Moore can no longer be seen, a flash of light appears around Troy. "I knew it would only be a matter of time! An ally to help me defeat my nemesis, Cloak. So speaks Rylon!!

He re-enters the imprisoned BatWing's room and unlocks the cage & then the shackles binding BatWing. "For allowing you freedom, I will ask you a favor, but for now you are free to go BatWing."

BatWing walks out of the cage, spreads his wings, screeches, and crashes through the wall, seraching for the one who imprisoned him, Kirby Moore.

Meanwhile upstairs in a meeting room, Kirby Moore talks with associates about the potential of BatWing, until he crashes through the wall. "How'd he get loose?", Kirby yells. And the exact instant Kirby realizes it was all a mistake, it's too late. BatWing recognizes the sound of his voice and lunges at the millionaire soaking his fangs into his neck. Someone decides to try and scare it off by throwing something at it. He succeeds in that and only that. Moore us dead and BatWing gone by way of crashing through the window.
