Jason stood there,trying to cram all of his clothes into
one suitcase,and it was not going well. "Uhhhnnnn..come... on
..stupid lock." He grumbled. Then all of a sudden it sprung
open and his clothes went all over the room.
Michelle was on the phone in the kitchen viewing the whole scene trying
not to laugh. "So Lisa, you really don't mind that I turned the place over
to Kelly and Dani I mean..." "Michelle, I told you not to worry,I hate being
boss anyway,people always ask me stupid questions."Lisa answered. "Okay, I
just didn't want to leave you out, I guess you'd be better being head of
wait-staff anyway." Michelle said. "Now that's the Michelle I know." Lisa
added.
The conversation continued with Jason yelling in the background. "I hate
this thing.!" Jason shouted, "Why won't you stay closed?" Michelle couldn't
take it any longer,she let out a burst of laughter. "Lisa I gotta go, the
vein on his forehead is coming out." She then said goodbye and hung up the
phone.
By the time she reached the bedroom Jason's fists were glowing and he was
staring at the "evil" suitcase. "Having problems sugah?" Michelle asked while
calmly picking up the clothes. "Yeah, this thing is broken, it won't shut."
Jason said, still angry at the suitcase. "All you need is a woman's touch."
She said as she neatly folded the clothes and put them in the suitcase. Jason
shook his head. "You're amazing chere`. I'll call the landlord and make sure
..." "Done.",Michelle said,cutting him off. "Then I'll go start the..." He
paused as he looked out the window and saw the car running. "Car,beat me to
it huh?" Jason smiled. "Anything I can do?" He asked. "Yeah carry the bags."
She smiled and kissed him.
Jason picked them up and followed her out the door. "What would I do
without you?" He asked her. "Let's not find out sugah." She answered and kissess
him again. "If you keep that up I might drop these." Jason said as the door
closed behind him.
Chapter#2 Saying Good-Bye
Jason came staggering out of the building and tripped tossing the
suitcases up in the air. Michelle quickly opened up the trunk and they fell
in perfectly then the trunk slammed shut.They both looked at each other,
amazed.
They then got in the car and Jason revved the engine. It roared loudly and
he smiled widely at her. She smiled back then grabbed his head and gave him
a long deep kiss then sat calmly in her seat. "Had to get that out of my
system so you could drive." She said, smiling at him sweetly. "I think I'm
gonna rev the engine more often if you keep doing that." He answered as they
drove away. "You won't be able to drive for long." She told him. "No problem
," He answered "Well just stop at a hotel." "Well don't forget, we have to
say good-bye to the gang before we take off on out great road trip." She
said. "Yeah," he sighed, "I'm gonna miss it here."
A few minutes later they pulled into the small parking lot of Michelle's
Coffee Shop. Kelly,Dani, Lisa and Michelle went into their hug-fest. Jason
went in to talk to Smiley.
"Where y'at cuz?" Jason said as he saw Smiley sitting in a chair,cleaning
his sax. "Hey Jason, you leavin' today bro?" Smiley asked. "Yep, gonna miss
hearin' your band playin' every night an' all the good times here. I hear
you boys are becoming a local legend." Jason said. "Thanks to good management,
" Smiley grinned, "I remember when you found me and my friends playin' street
corners.Man I'll never be able to pay you back for that break you gave me."
"Hey don't worry about it, I'm just glad I could help you, and you and your
boys always came through when I needed a band." Jason said.
"Well, I hope this is a start." Smiley said then handed him a tape. "What's
on this?" Jason asked. "Smiley & The Po-Boys, out first, one of a kind."
"Thanks man, for everything." Jason said. "Same here." Smiley said. Then they
shook hands blood-brother style.
Jason and Smiley then walked outside then walked outside and saw the
girls laughing and talking. Jason spoke up,"Hey who's got a camera for one
more shot?" Michelle then got her polariod out of the suitcase and set it
for 30 seconds. They posed in front of the shop. Jason and Michelle standing
in the back, Smiley kneeling in front holding his sax, Dani and Kelly on the
left of him and Lisa on the right. Then the camera flashed immortalizing them
in the photograph. They said their last good-byes. And Jason & Michelle got
in the car and drove away. Waving good-bye to their home and friends. For
a little while anyway.
Jason put the tape Smiley gave him in the cassette player and turned the
volume on low. Michelle laid her head on his shoulder, his favorite way to
drive. He looked at her and said. "I never told you this, but you're even
more beautiful when you're asleep then when you're mad." She looked back and
said, "You know, it's only us from here to New York... maybe we should take
our time and enjoy our vacation." He flashed a smile and said, "Good idea
chere," He saw a billboard for Holiday Inn and said. "I have an idea of my
own."
Chapter #3 Vacation
About a mile from the hotel it started raining hard. "Well," Jason
said. "we're not gonna have time to grab all out stuff out of here before we
get soaked." "Yeah, maybe we should just grab enough clothes for tonight, we
can change before we leave in the morning." Michelle said.
Then she climbed partly over the seat, Jason was enjoying the view. She
grabbed two small suitcases and set them on her lap. "What's in these?" He
asked. "You'll see." She answered.
Not long after, they pulled into the parking lot. "Ok, here's the plan,
I go in and pay for the room, then I run back here with the keys. Then I grab
the luggage you picked and head for the door." Jason said. "Than I run ahead
and and unlock the door and hold it open so you don't run through it."
Michelle answered. The cold rain came down harder, and Jason got out of the
car, slammed the door shut and ran through the rain into the hotel.
A minute later he came sprinting back out and almost dove into the car.
He jingled the keys and said. "Room 49, ready?" She nodded and he handed her
the keys, grabbed the two suitcases and they both jumped out of the car. They
ran to the door laughing as the cold rain hit them.
It was a good thing their plan worked,because the rain began to come down
harder and the wind howled,they could hear it even inside their room. They
shut the door and looked around at the beautiful room. It had white carpeting
, light teal walls, and a heart-shaped bed. "Oh you." Michelle said as she
threw her arms around him and kissed him. "I thought you'd like it." He said.
"You wanna unpack while I take a shower?" "Sure." She said. Then when she
was finished, she laid back on the bed admiring the room.
About 10 minutes later, Jason got out of the shower and dried off, then
put on his clothes. Blue flannel pajamas that had thin, green stripes on
them. *Hmm... I think I like the way she picks out clothes for me. I think
I'll have her make me a costume sometime.* He thought to himself.
"Your turn." He told her as he walked out of the bathroom. She stood up
and kissed him playfully. "Finally," She said. "and you men say WE take a
long time in the bathroom.Now you behave yourself while I'm in here."
Immediately after she closed the door Jason started jumping on the bed.
"Jason Lee Dallas! Stop that before you..." She yelled out the door. "OUCH"
he yelled as his head hit the ceiling. She peeked out from behind the door
and laughed. "Will you read a book or something before you hurt yourself?"
"Yes mommy," He joked. He picked up a book. "Hm... 7th Grade Heroes....
hehe Fish-Man rules..."
A few minutes later, she strode out of the bathroom,steam rolling out
the door behind her. She was wearing a flannel outfit like his, but it was
red. Jason looked up from his book,threw it down and said "I'm done with
this."
She sat down on the bed beside him and he sat up and put his arms
around her,pulling her close. "Mmm... I love it when you hold me like this."
She said and kissed him. Then he kissed her,deeply. They laid back on the
bed, her in front of him with his arms around her. "Jason," she said. "I was
so scared beck homw when you went after those terrorists,now you're going
after this BatWing monster that nobody has been able to stop. What if you..."
"Shh..." he cut her off. "It's going to be ok,I'll come out on top." he said
calming her. She turned over and looked straight into his eyes and he looked
into hers. "Promise you'll come back to me ok?" She hugged him tight. "I will
chere` I promise." He whispered. He held her closer to him and ran his hand
through her hair. "I Love You Jason." she said. He could hear everything she
felt in her voice. Her love and devotion to him and her worry that he may
not come back this time. "I Love You too Michelle." he whispered to her. He
held her close and she fell asleep in his arms.
Chapter#4 Looking Back
Jason laid there, watching her sleeping in his arms so peacefully. He
thought about waking up to her each morning. He also decided after this
BatWing caper,he was going to ask her to marry him. He could hide his
powers easily and they could live life happily together.
He watched her sleeping quietly until he dozed off. In the middle of
the night Michelle woke up, turned on the nightstand lamp then woke Jason
up gently. "Jason..." she whispered softly. "Hmmm..." he opened his eyes.
"Something wrong?" She propped her head up on her pillow and laid on her side
facing him. "Wellyou never did tell me about that night Remy mentioned.
(see Shatter#2) She kissed him softly. "Besides I want a bedtime
story." He laughed then kissed her gently. "Ok. Let's start from the
beginning."
"Well,not long after we finished High School, you went to college, I
wanted to go with you but couldn't afford it." "Oh baby, why didn't you tell
me I would have given you enough to come too." she said. "Yeah I know but I
was ashamed of my situation. And decided to take what i had and go looking
for work. I was determined not to come back until I made something of myself.
Weeks went by, and nothing was going my way. I still didn't even know about
my powers until they flared one night and blew up the dumpster I was
sleeping in." She looked at him lovingly. "I wish you would have came home,
I missed you so much when you were away." He kissed her,then continued. "
I know chere` but I was broke and had no idea what to do. Until one night
I was walking around and bumped into Remy LeBeau. He took me off the streets
and helped me get a job with him wrecking houses for some guy named Essex.
I found out he was a mutant on our first job. And I told him about my powers.
He taught me how to control them and we found out that sound fuels my power."
" It was easy work, considering we could use our powers to wreck the
bulidings. We got paid well because we could tear down a place in a few
minutes. I saved every penny I could and put it into a bank acount. That way
I could get back to you faster." She kissed him again, "You're always thinking
of me huh?" "Yeah," he blushed, "But it's gonna be hard to finish this story
if you keep kissing me like that." She purred and said, "Okay, I'll be good."
He continued. "We had a huge job in Seattle, wrecking some hotels. Remy
met Belladonna there. They fell in love fast and after the job we came back
to Louisiana for the wedding. A few of us decided to throw Remy a bachelor
party on the French Quarter. And I remember Belle saying she could trust Remy
at the party since he was a calm down-to-earth gentleman. And I said..."
They both started laughing hard. "So that's where that came from?" Michelle
asked rolling on the bed. "Yep we all had a good laugh on that one." Jason
said.
Jason settled down and then went back to his story. "By that time I
decided I had enough of being without you those 4 years so when Remy and
Belle moved back to Seattle,I came back here to you." Jason said and kissed
her,deeply. "You couldn't have came at a better time, I needed you so much
after my parents died in that plane crash." She sighed and hugged him. "Yeah
but when I got here I noticed I had an extra $10,000 in my bank account. I
knew it was from Remy. If it weren't for him I probably would have never
got back here to you.
It wasn't long after I got settled in at my apartment I found Smiley
and his band playing on street corners. I thought about my bad run with
luck and how Remy gave me a break. This was my chance to do the same for
someone else. After I started getting them booked on some good gigs he
asked me to be his manager." Michelle then said, "Then I started my coffee
shop." "And we'll live happily ever after the end." Jason said.
Michlle reached over and turned out the lights, snuggled close to him
and fell asleep. Jason kissed her softly. Finally they were alone together.
*I think I'll stay on vacation a while longer* He thought. Then he put his
arm around her and went to sleep.
Chapter#5 Quasar
Jason woke up early in the morning. The light streamed through the blinds
in thin beams. It looked beautiful on the light teal walls. He rolled over,
putting his arm around Michelle.He glanced over at her,she was smiling
sweetly. He nuzzled his face in her silky hair and kissed her neck gently.
She slowly rolled over towards him and opened her eyes. It was like
something out of a romance novel. "Mmmm.... good morning sugah," She yawned
and stretched. Then she snuggled back into his arms. "Mmmm... cozy." she said.
He kissed her and said, "I think I'm going to like waking up to you every
morning."
Then there was a flash of light in the center of the room. "Awww man
everytime we get alone together someone has to interrupt." Jason said as
he stood up. There was a tall, young man standing where the flash was.
Jason Dallas, are you Jason Dallas?" He asked. "Yeah, I'm Jason and you better
have a good reason for interrupting my vacation." Jason told him as his
power flashed to life. The man backed up a little.
Michelle stood up, "Jason wait, let's see what he wants before you
blow his head off." Jason powered down. "Ah, you must be Michelle." The man
said. "I am Quasar" Jason asked him, "How did you know who we are?" Quasar
continued, "I was appionted Protector of the Universe by Eon. I was sent
here to Earth bacause this planet is about to face a great crisis. He told me
you have the potential to be a great hero."
Jason shook his hand and said, "Normally I wouldn't believe this but
strange things have happened lately." Michelle sat down and listened, she
knew this was going to be big. "It's important that we leave soon, Onslaught
is coming." Quasar said. "Woah," Jason spoke up, "Onslaught...that F.o.H. nut
said something about Onslaught. I thought he was just a rambling idiot or
something." He paused and asked Quasar, "Can you guarantee me that Michelle
will be safe until we beat Onslaught?" Quasar shook his head. "No, the only
way anyone will be safe is for us to beat Onslaught." Jason then said. "Well
, can we have some time alone, before we go?" Quasar then nodded then
teleported outside.
Michelle and Jason started getting dresed. "I'd be lying if I said I
wasn't scared Jason,but I know this is what you have to do." She said as
she held him tight. Jason put his arms around her and held her close.
She continued, "Just be sure you come back to me tough-guy." "I will baby,
I promise." "Here, take this, for luck." She gave him her silver locket on
a small chain. She put it around his neck. "This has been a good luck charm
in my family for so long.Take it with you baby." She said. Then they kissed
more lovingly than ever.
They walked outside. "Quasar, I want you to put Michelle in the safest
place you can until this is over." Jason told him. "I'll do my best." He said.
"Ready then?" Quasar asked. Jason looked at Michelle she spoke up and said,
"Give him one for me baby." Jason then said, "Quasar,one more thing," He
put his shades on. "Call me Shatter!"
