Short Background:

To describe Rei is just plain crazy, for starters she can see into the future, is a Karate ace, preistess of a shinto temple (yet she goes to catholic school...) song writer, fashion designer, you name it Rei pretty much does it. Plus just like her sign indicates she is one firey tempered little thing. we first meet Rei when people and busses have begun dissapearing from the cheery hill temple disctrict. Ami and Luna want to check it out, Usagi wanted to buy the special good luck love charms that are being sold there. Upon arrival Rei sense something about Usagi and accidently knocks her out.

Not a good begining as you can see, Rei and Usagi were destined to fight from the get go. Anyways to make a long story short by the end of that episode Rei, turns out to be Sailor Mars, and the short lived Tuxedo mask attention Rivalry beginss. Though Rei and Usagi fight alot the are in actuallty the best of friends, something that was only recently shown in america. Though she can be hard, and unrelenting most of the times, Rei truely has the best interests of her friends at heart. Usualy when one of the scouts has a problem they talk to Rei. As a child Rei was ridiculed for her Psychic powers and for her two pet Crows, only recently did she begin to open up more to the world outside her temple. It's not really known (at least in the Anime) what happend to Rei's parents, all we do know is that she was raised by her grandfater for a good portion of her life. So i guess that's it, I can't really say to much about Rei that I already havent.
