Genn rushed into the stadium with Julia clinging onto her shoulders and Warren following close behind. Her 17yr old heart jumped for joy as she made her way to the seats. " Oh this is so exciting!! My first time ever to see a tournament!!" She stood in the aisle looking at the huge dirt circle in the middle of the dome. She concluded that that was where the monsters fought.
" Hey Genn!!!" Warren yelled. She looked to where she heard his voice and saw him waving towards her. " I found some great seats!! Better hurry before someone takes them!!" Genn nodded and smiled as she ran over and quickly sat herself down.
Julia was just about to leap off until Genn caught her leg. " No no no... you are going to watch this. One day you are going to be fighting in this little lady!" Genn said as she tickled the pixie's knees.
Suddenly a loud ringing was heard over the crowd of spectaters. " Ladies and Gentlemen, please be seated. The fights are about to begin!!!" The crowd grew louder with cheering as they sat in the dwindling spots left.
An eternity passed, well seemed to, before the announcer was heard again. " Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Beginner's Cup!!!" The crowd went wild with cheers and whistles. enn could barely hear the announcer over the yells. " The winner today will take home 500 gold pieces and this nice bronze trophy!!!!" A door from the battlegrounds opened as a Suezo hopped out holding a smal trophy with it's tongue. " Let the games begin!!!!!!" Genn deciding she shouldn't be left out began cheering and clapping as she saw the opponents enter the ring.
" Introducing the first battle opponents! With his MarbleGuy, Uagtia, welcome 3rd class trainer Joseph!!!!" Genn awed at the huge purple and pink monster. It's fierce eyes scanned the audience as it's trainer waved about happily. " And now introducing his opponent. With his Vanity, Nelto, please welcome 1st class trainer Ronald!!!!"
Julia clapped her hands together as she saw another type of pixie enter the ring and wave. " Oh Julia, isn't she beautiful?! Don't worry though when you grow you'll be the bestest monster ever!!" Genn exclaimed as she smiled towards her. She looked over towards Warren who was holding his ears shut. She could only giggle as she heard the announcer again.
" Trainers Please take your positions." The trainers moved to the opposite sides of the floor and up a small set of stairs to a balcony that hung just inside of the arena. " Are we ready??" The 2 men nodded and then nodded towards eachother. " FIGHT!!!!!"
Everyone seemed to stand at once. The two monsters circled eachother waiting for thier master's comands. Then suddenly the trainers began shouting out. The Vanity rushed towards the Marbleguy and swiftly kicked it in the legs, but to the little monster's surprise the golem moved not an inch. Her trainer yelled out another command but only a confused and frightened look came across her face. Suddenly the golems huge foot, twice as big as her, came rushing forward and slammed into the frail pixie. She let out a horrible cry as she flew back and smashed into the dirt. The golem waked over slowly towards the unmoving pixie and looked down at her. With an almost sadistic grin the monster raised it's massive arms in victory.
" And Joseph with Uagtia has won with a spendid KO!!!!" The announcer yelled. The crowd was mixed with cheers and boo's as the trainers made their way out. Ronald with a devestated look on his face caried his monster out. Head hung low.
Genn was mortified. " How could.. how could it smile like that?" She asked as she felt tears roll down her cheeks. She sat back down in her seat shaking.... " I never knew there could be suck an evil thing....." Julia sniffed quietly wanting to forget the image of a fellow pixie fall.
Warren coughed, " Well, what did you expect to see? It's a battle. This is what happens.." he said as he looked upon his friend. " Not every monster is good.... there are some that are better evil... it's just the way it is... it all depends on the trainer and what they want... that's all." Genn looked up and wish she hadn't when she saw the concern in his eyes. He smiled warmly, " If it worries you that much we can leave."
Genn shook her head and smiled. " I'm fine, this just wasn't what I was expecting.. that's all, I want to stay.... I want Julia to be in a battle one day... and I want her to win!" She jumped up and started cheering once more. The battles continued on for another hour until the victor was finally announced.
" And with a Perfect Victory, not one battle lost! Uagtia and Joseph!!!!"
" Well that was exciting." Genn said as she skipped down the dirt pass. Julia bounced along side of her holding onto her trainer's hand.
Warren nodded as he tried to keep up with the pair. " And we learned alot. If we ever want Julia to win we are going to have to do some major training."
" Yup yup, we'll start tomorrow. I have something in mind that might help her, but first we are gonna eat a really huge dinner and then have a long nights rest." Warren smiled and nodded as they made their way home.
" *MunchMunch* This is really yummy Warren!!! Where did you learn to cook like this?" Genn exclaimed as she took in another mouthful of roast.
" Oh, don't you remember how we always use to watch my mom cook those dinners for the mayor? Well I just paid better attention that you know... hehe"
Genn giggled and smiled as she placed another piece of meat on Julia's plate and tossed Marcus one. " *BURRRPPPP!!!* Ah!!! That was yummy!!!! I'm so full it feels like my tummy is about to pop!!"
Warren nodded as he took another bite out of his dinner, " *Munch* It looks like it's about to pop too... *Munch Munch*" Suddenly a piece of meat smacked Warren on his cheek. " Hey what was that for!!??!!"
" You just called me fat!!!" Genn exclaimed as she picked up another piece of food to throw at him.
" No no! I didn't mean anything by it!!" Genn only smiled and giggled as she tossed the meat towards Marcus who ravaged it down.
" I'm only picking on you, don't be so serious all the time! *giggle Well, I'm off to bed, Warren make sure Julia eats everything on her plate and make sure she goes to sleep." Warren nodded in response. " Night everyone!!!"
" All right, now what are we going to start with first..." Genn said to herself.
" Maybe some basic excercises? Start off simple and then build from there.." Warren said as he adjusted his glasses. Happy with that solution Genn began showing Julia how to do basic excercises.. such as jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, etc etc... and to help her little pixie along she did the exercises with her.. and forced Warren to although he refused at first.
After about 30 minutes of exercising the group was startled by an unexpected visitor. "Hello there. I'm from the commitee to inspect your ranch. This shouldn't take long if everything goes well." The man smiled.
" Oh! Well let us show you around!" Genn panted out as she sat up from catching her breathe. Genn led the man to the stable, her house, the pond nearby and various other places until the man stopped.
" Hmm, nice stable, very clean and big enough for small to medium monsters. House, nice and tidy with plenty of supplies for a beginner trainer. A very nice size ranch so your monster can roam around freely. Well, this place is very very nice." The man said. " Your ranch has made our qualifications and then some." He began writing some things down on the clipboard he had brought with him. He then pulled out some papers from a small suitcase he had placed down. " First off, have you been to see a battle?"
Genn nodded saddly, " Yes, it wasn't what I expected at all."
The man smiled warmly and placed a soothing hand on her shoulder. " It's never what anyone expects at first, I'm surprised that you aren't as shocked abut it as I was when I first saw one. " he laughed. " Anyway, so you've been.. that's good. Now, here are some people in town that will give you odd jobs for your monster. These jobs were specially made so that if your monster completes them successfully a certain stat will raise." He handed the papers to Genn. " Also you will now be notified if there is a special sale in item stores, and at the trainers guild. It's pretty much self explanitory. And also your name and monster you have will be entered into our data banks for explorers who wish to have you accompany them. That pays very well and also raises stats on your monster. For more information about that just ask the explorer and they wil be able to explain everything to you. You will also be able to access the labs. There you can freeze your monsters that you wish to save for later training or combining purposes. It comes in very handy when you get your bearings straight. And now you can enter into tournaments! If you beat one of the Official battles you will be notified by mail that your rank as a trainer has gone up. There are better battles and oppurtunities to being a high ranking trainer." He handed her a few more slips of papers and tipped his hat. " And now, back to your training." He smiled and headed back off to the trail towards town.
"Wow... and I thought you talked alot.." Warren laughed.
Genn nodded and giggled. " I thought so too.... hmm... well Warren can you please go put these in the house. We still have some more exercises to do!!!"
