Another Leni Parker Bio

I got this information from a Primedia Program thing, so I didn't put this all together, they did, and therefore deserve the credit. Honestly, do you really think something as eloquent as this could come from me? :) And, my dear friend Colleen Hillerup is not to be forgotten as she is the one who obtained this for me. Thanks!

Leni Parker was made for the role of Da'an, the Taelon ambassador to the US in Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict. When her agent received the descrpition of Da'an, the words "graceful stature" instantly made him think of Leni. Leni agreed. "When I first read the script, I instictively knew who Da'an was and I connected with his spirit immediatly." Though Da'an is referred to as "he," the gender of the Taelon remains a mystery.

The 32-year-old actress was born and raised in New Brunswick, where initially she wanted to become a vet or an actor. As a child, her favorite TV shows were Masterpiece Theatre and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was heavily influenced by her mother's interest in the arts and has fond memories of going to her mom's amateur theatre group rehersals.

At age 18, Leni moved to Montreal to study acting at Concordia University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance, she began a 10-year involvement with Pigeon International Theatre, which took her to Italy, Scotland, Portugal, and across Canada, performing in such shows as Savage Love, Blood on the Cat's Neck, The Making of Macbeth, and Perdus dans les Conquelicots. Leni has recently completed a series entitled Emily of New Moon, which will broadcast this January. Among her credits are the TV movies Million Dollar Babies, Lassie, and The Sleep Roome. Some of her film credits are Education of Little Tree, Hemogoblin, and Mrs. Parker and the Round Table.

Of all the principals in Earth: Final Conflict, Leni undergoes the greatest physical change for her role. This daily transformation is an important part of Leni's process of getting into character. "As an extremely emotional actor, I work from my feet up, and when I get a certain feeling in my solar plexis, I know I'm there; I've got the character. With Da'an, it's really important for me to stay focused and solitary. I love being in that costume. If there's one thing out of place, I don't feel good about it. Da'an's suit is five layers. The foundation is the 'muscle' suit, then a lycra body suit, a sheath of light blue polyester, copper mesh, and a dark blue crepe. I'm obsessed with the precision of details of the character when I'm working. My goal is to move and audience with my work. It's a bit weird to think that this character might become an icon like Mr. Spock. It's very exciting to be a part of all this."
