Deep Space Nine Senior Crew:
Captain Benjamin Sisko
Captain Benjamin Sisko's assignment as Federation attaché to the former Cardassian station Terok Nor, thereafter the end of the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, was to help rebuild Bajor's povrished economy and to bring in a flow of trade to Deep Space Nine. He accomplished this by discovering the Bajoran Wormhole, along with Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax. Because of his discovery, Benjamin was proclaimed "Emissary" according to Bajoran prophecy and is seen as a religious figure to the Bajoran faithful, much to the disliking of Starfleet Command. At first Benjamin adopted Starfleet's attitude towards his religious title, but over the course of time he discovers that he really does believe in his role as Emissary. It is Sisko, along with Quark, who makes first contact with the Dominion, and he who leads the war between the Dominion and the Federation. During the sixth season, Sisko goes through the motions of war and in the end retrieves his station, but with heavy losses. At this point, Sisko is contemplating what to do now that his best friend, Jadzia Dax, has died and that he faces the burden of ridding the Alpha Quadrant of the Dominion.
Major Kira Nerys
Major Kira Nerys of the Bajoran Militia was born in Dakhur Province in the midst of the Cardassian Occupation of her homeworld Bajor. She saw her people murdered and forced into slavery. Her mother was taken away from her at a very young age by Gul Dukat to become a courtesan. She joined the Shakaar Resistance at the age of 12 when her father died at the hands of the Cardassians while he was trying to reason with them. Kira doesn't like Cardassians. When she was first assigned to Deep Space Nine she was not happy with the fact that Captain Sisko would share authority over the station. Over time, they evolved a friendship, slightly formal because of her belief in him as the Emissary. During that time she had a romantic relationship with Vedek Bareil, who later died, and then one with her former fellow resistance fighter Shakaar. In one incident she went in search of Gul Dukat's daughter Ziyal, therafter she was found Ziyal and Kira developed a friendship. Soon after Ziyal and Kira met again, and the decision was made that Kira should bring Ziyal to live on the station. During the siege of Deep Space Nine, her government ordered her to stay on the station to play good relations with the Dominion and the Cardassians for the overall benefit of Bajor. Her role was vital in the retake of the station by Federation forces, if it were not for her and Rom, the Defiant wouldn't have made it through the defense parameter. As of now she is in charge of DS9 operations since Sisko's departure, and she shares a romantic relationship with Chief of Security Odo.
Chief of Security Odo
Chief of Security Odo was discovered by Dr. Mora Pol during the Bajoran Occupation. It wasn't even realized that Odo was a lifeform until one day in the laboratory it was discovered that there was one more test tube than before. Odo got his name from a Cardassian guard who labeled the container that he was in, "odo", which in Cardassian means "nothing". Odo soon left Dr. Mora's lab to persue his own life as Terok Nor's Chief of Security, granted by the then Gul Dukat prefect of Bajor. With the arrival of the Federation, Sisko and Odo then soon had a clash in their sense of order, but a common ground in justice. Odo had always been the outsider, then he found his people in the Gamma Quadrant, but to a true twist of fate he finds out that his people are the power behind the Dominion. In one incident, Odo kills another of his kind, and faces judgment by his people, who then turn him into a monoform. He soon regains his shapeshifting abilities through the sacrifice of a newly formed changeling. His role during the siege of DS9 was to keep the Dominion from totally conquering Bajor, and later, he helped in the Federation retake of DS9.
Chief Engineer Miles O'brien
Chief Engineer Miles O'brien was born in Ireland, Earth. He served aboard the USS Enterprise along with then Chief of Security Worf as one of the transporter operators. He married Keiko Ishikawa on board the Enterprise, and also had a child Molly O'brien, during a crisis where Worf helped deliver Molly. He was then transferred to Deep Space Nine Station to become the Chief of Operations. In one incident O'brien's wife was injured, and Kira became the surrogate mother for their unborn child. Once the war started O'brien's family relocated to Earth, but now have since moved back.
Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax
Lieutenant Jadzia Dax's people, the Trill, share a symbiotic relationship with wormlike creatures that reside inside the host's abdomen. On Trill, it is the greatest honor to be a joined Trill. Tens of thousands of Trill apply to be a joined Trill, but only a select few are actually accepted. Dax's past host Curzon was Benjamin's mentor, so when Curzon's memories and personality was passed on to Jadzia through the symbiont Ben and Jadzia started their own unique friendship. When Commander Worf was assigned to DS9, Dax's past host's experience with the Klingons brought on a friendship with the commander. Over time, Dax and Worf developed a romantic relationship, which lead to them getting married after the retake of Deep Space Nine. Later on, Jadzia and Worf decided that they wanted to have a baby, but before that could happen Jadzia was killed off by Dukat who was possessed by a pagh wraith.
Commander Worf
Commander Worf was orphaned during the Romulan attack at Khitomer at the age of 5, but was adopted by his Human parents Sergey and Helena Rozenhenko. Like his adopted father, Worf entered Starfleet, but as the first Klingon in Starfleet. From there, Worf was assigned to the USS Enterprise, where he served as Chief of Security for seven years. During that time he had a son Alexander with a half human/ half klingon woman name K'Ehlyr, but did not even know of Alexander's existance until the boy was 5. When K'Ehlyr was murdered, it was up to Worf to care for Alexander. It was later decided that Alexander be cared for by his adopted grandparents on Earth. After Worf's tenure on the Enterprise, he was transferred to DS9. At DS9, he met Lieutenant Jadzia Dax where they developed a relationship and were soon married. As of now, because of Jadzia's death it is uncertain whether Worf will remain in Starfleet let alone DS9.
Chief Medical Officer Julian Sabatoi Bashir
Julian was born with limited mental and physical abilities. Fearing that their child would grow up with little advantages, Julian's parents put him through a series of genetic engineering to improve his mental and motor skills with the knowledge that genetic engineering was illegal and anyone caught could be sent to prison for life. Julian graduated second in his class, but he did get the position he wanted as medical officer for DS9. Julian befriended a Cardassian named Garak while on DS9. Julian finally came out with the secret that he was genetically engineered when his parents came to the station, at the request of a hologram programmer named Zimmerman, and the information was revealedin front of the Starfleet programmer. It was agreed that Julian's father would go to prison in exchange that Julian be allowed to remain at his position on DS9. Since then Julian has been very open about his genetically engineered background, a sort of relief from all those years of secrecy.
Ensign Nog
Nog was born to Rom and a Ferengi woman named Prinnadora. Just after he was born, his mother divorced his father to be with a richer man. While at DS9, he met a human about his age named Jake, the station commander's son. They became good friends, and with the help of Jake's father, Nog was accepted into Starfleet Academy as the first Ferengi in Starfleet. Nog did very well at Starfleet, and was then assigned back to DS9. He played a role in the Federation retaking of Deep Space Nine station.
General Martok of the Klingon Empire
General Martok's first encounter with the Dominion was when he was abducted and replaceed with a changling impersonator while hunting a saber bear on a mountain. At the POW camp, he met Dr. Bashir who was also replaced with a changling, and towards the day of his escape he met Worf and Garak. When Garak was able to contact the runabout and free the prisoners, Martok remained on Deep Space Nine as representative of the Klingon Empire. In one incident, Martok and Worf went on a mission near the Dominion border, after the mission Martok announces Worf into his house. During the Dominion war, Martok lead the Klingons against the Dominion and helped Captain Sisko retake the station.
