Tribute to Weyoun

For those who don't know...

Weyoun is a character on Star Trek Deep Space Nine, and is played by the talented actor Jeffrey Combs. Jeffrey Combs also plays the character Ferengi Liquidator Brunt, but this page is in honor of Weyoun.

Weyoun first appeared in the episode "To the Death". During the episode, Weyoun and his Jem'Hadar crew were chasing down renegade Jem'Hadar when their ship was badly damaged. Sisko and his crew were at the time looking for the same renegade Jem'Hadar who had attacked the station. Sisko transported Weyoun and his crew from their ship right before it blew up, and after Weyoun talked to Sisko, the two decided to work together to destroy the renegade Jem'Hadar. But, in one incident Weyoun questions the loyalty of his men, and after the mission is over his Jem'Hadar First officer shoots him for his lack of trust.

Then all of a sudden in the episode "Ties of Blood and Water", Weyoun is at Dukat's side in Sisko's office. Of course Sisko is as baffled as the audience is, and asks Weyoun, "Aren't you dead?". This is where we learn that Vorta are cloned and that the Weyoun we see today is the 5th incarnation of the original Weyoun. Later in this episode, Weyoun delibertly drinks the poison that Dukat put in Tekenny's bottle of Kanar right in front of Sisko and Dukat. Sisko replies,"Whaa?!?". Here we learn that Vorta are immune to most forms of poison.

In the episode "In the Cards", Jake and Nog go in search of a prized baseball card, in their haste they attract the attention of Weyoun who suspects that they're plotting something against him because of all the activity they were conducting right beneath his quarters. Weyoun beams Jake and Nog aboard his ship, and questions them to what they were doing. After he determines that Jake and Nog are innocent he lets them go and lets them have their baseball. Now isn't that a display of Weyoun's kindness and generousity?

When the Dominion/Cardassian taskforce took over the station, Dukat was in charge of making sure the mine field was taken down so that more Jem'Hadar reinforcements could be sent in from the Gamma Quadrant. In one incident, Dukat pointed to the work crew out in space demolishing the mine field, to which Dukat said, "Look we're working on it, see right there". Weyoun says something like this later on,"Vorta have good ears, but bad vision."

In the finale of season 6, we see how Weyoun was the one really in control of the Cardassian empire and how little Damar had over it.

Now, during season 7, we see how manipulative our favorite vorta can really be. He's totally in control of Damar. And, to our total surprise, even Weyoun has a strain of corruptness through him, as we seen in the episode "Treachery, Faith, and the Great River", Weyoun's 6th clone is found to be a trater to the Dominion and seeks sanctuary from Odo. Well, he dies at the end of the episode like every newly introduced character does at the end of a star trek episode. But the 7th reincarnation continues to control both the Dominion force and the Cardassians, and as we see in the episode "Prenumbra", Weyoun will see to the aliance of the Dominion and the Breen empire.

Weyoun's people are cloned, they're immune to poison, they have good ears but bad vision, he can be generous, deceitful, and cunning; what's not to like about him? He probably couldn't see across the room, but he could hear across the station. He could turn on you, but be generous enough to give you a quick death. You'd probably never be able to kill him with poison, but if he ever did happen to die then, we could just clone another Weyoun. Therefore, we'd never run out of Weyoun.
