"Everyone listens up. I want to meet with you in the staff conference room in an hour." Chakotay told them. "They schedule us to go to Mars next. We can drop off Vidita and Gosheven on our way. That is if they want to go back." Chakotay told him.

Q asked. "What is up with Phoebe?"

She and T'mar are very happy. Robert is doing well. He is in special training. He was born with what they call free mind meld capabilities. You know how Vulcan's have to touch to do a mind meld. Robert doesn't. He just stands in a room with them and gets them to tell the truth about everything. Chakotay started to laugh. "He had the admiral that was working for the separatist, telling everyone who would listen about his part in the movement. He even named the leader that hurt Tuvok because it was his wife. She wanted to be queen like they were along time ago."

"You should have been around last week. You remember Maria Paris Thompson. She got married. She got the Diestrum Institute in a lot of trouble. So much so they fired the head of the institute. She had married someone the head man didn't approve of, so he had him transferred out. Then he sent all her mail back to him even ones from her father and me any one with a male name on it. He read the rest to make sure he didn't get someone to send in something for him. He read her mail going out for anything she may have said about being married." Chakotay smiled, shaking his head. When she got through with him, he was lucky to get a job as a street sweeper.

"Well it is time to go to the conference room. They left the office and walked down the hall to the other room." They walked in. "Hi folks you all know Q." Chakotay said. "He has something that will interest all of you, you in particular Gosheven, Mr. President. You are looking at the first president of Baldassare. Now Q will fill you in on the details."

"Well after we got you four out of there. I went back to get the goods on Jaor. He had hurt my little one. I wasn't about to let the little twerp get away with hurting my little angel." Q said. "I found all the children, they had said was dead. Jaor had them in an underground cavern. Most had been down there so long that they can't see. Four of them are yours." He looked at Vidita. "The people hung Jaor, for it. They want you to come back and run the government." Q told them.

Gosheven looked confused. "Why would they elect me President? They don't know whether I would ever be back?" He said. "Who is in charge until I decide, whether I'm coming back or not?"

"You were on Jaor's hit list a while before you left. You were getting too popular with the people. He was afraid of you taking over. He and everyone else thought, when you got out you took these two with you. Everyone knew they wanted to go home. Jaor had some reason he wasn't letting them go. Your brother Napayshni is in charge." Q told him.

Chakotay said. "It is your choice. We will drop you at the planet if you want to be. You are welcome here since you want to stay."

"I understand, but I would like to see my other children. I hope they don't hate us." Gosheven told them.

"The children are slightly retarded from his experiments and the cavern. Plus they have not taught them anything. That is the reason I told Chakotay they could use this ship." Q told them.

"Well we can be there in about two months. They schedule us for Mars next week. We don't have reports of much wrong there." The Captian said.

"What we need is for you to go back and figure out what your people need, medically, envirmental, business. When we get back, you will know exactly what you need. Then everyone won't be running in all directions, and accomplishing nothing." Chakotay said. "When we get there, we will stay in orbit until we get you on your feet."

Comis spoke up then. "Dwayne and I could go back and help him."

"NO!!!!" Everyone said at once.

Comis looked at them. "I can understand my parents, but you two." She was looking at Vidita and Gosheven.

"Comis you have a very big heart, and you will be there to help. I would feel better if you stay here with Dr. Paris. I'm worried about you. You are having an alien child." You said they worried the Doctor by the way it was connected to you. You have them there. We could lose you plus the children.

"I see well if you want it that way." Comis said.

Q said. "Well someone with intelligence."

"Q I can't just sit around and do nothing." Comis told him. "Fine. You can do many things here. To start with simplifying requests of goods they need. Comis, you must have some idea of what they will need?" The Captian asked.

"Yes sir." Comis looked at Dwayne. "Can you give me a list of things you know they need?"

"Captian can Vidita and I go and talk this over? We have to decide what to do." Gosheven asked.

"You're dismissed." The Captian said. "Now will you need a lab for your work?" He asked.

"No sir just one hydroponics bay. Planets that clean the air can take a lot of their problems away. She named a few she needed to find." Comis told him.

"Where are they found? She looked confused. The planets." Chakotay asked.

"Oh I'm sorry Dad. I have hated the man, for so long. Suddenly he isn't there to hate. I'm left with nothing to put my energy into now."

"You do. You have a planet of two billion people and should talk to Mr. Condor about this. In the mean time come to Papa and he held his arms out. Comis ran into his arms and began to cry." Chakotay held her tight, rocking her back and forth.

Q walked over to Kathryn. "What were they talking about a baby?" Q asked.

"She is pregnant from his rape. The doctors tried to remove them, but the way they are attached to her. They couldn't with out running the chance of killing her." Kathryn told him.

"What are her chances of having them normally?" Q asked.

Kathryn just shrugged. "We have no idea. It is the first time this species and a human have had a child." She told him.

"Does she really want them?" Q asked.

Again Kathryn shrugged her shoulders. "I think she is, resigned to it, because she can't do anything else." Kathryn answered.

Q turned around and looked at his little girl. Mrs. Q popped in. "Hello my husband. I heard that." Mrs. Q said.

"She is one of two girls the other Q messed up." Q told her. "I'm the one that had to go in and fix them."

"Do you think you could go in, and take them out?" Mrs. Q asked.

"I would like to try. Kathryn do you think she would let me try to get them out?" Q asked. "Comis do you still want to get rid of those things?"

She looked at him. "I can't. It will kill me." Comis told him. "Let's go to the medical bay." Q said.

Chakotay hit his comm. badge "Dr. Paris, which med. bay is not being used?"

"Med. bay three, what is up?" Tom asked.

"Meet us there." Chakotay told him.

They walked into the sick bay. Dwayne helped Comis on to the bio bed. Tom turned it on, so he could monitor her. "What are we doing here?" Tom asked.

"Q is going to attempt to abort the things. We are here so that if things go wrong you can step in and help her." Chakotay told him.

"Can we get on with this I want to get rid of these two?" Comis told them. They were about to start.

Robert walked into sick bay. "Can I talk to them, first Aunt Comis?" Robert asked.

They all looked at each other in shock. The boy sat on the floor. "Hi I'm Robert one of your costins. Yeah they'es tryin because you are makn you mommy sick. When the funny man comes to take you out, please let him take you out. I don''t knows for sure I'll ask. Grandpa would the goo that Bg lives in s'port the two them?" Robert asked.

"I don't know son." Tom told him. Tom turned to a nurse get a tub of goo ready. We can always try.

" They don't like it in there, because she can't feed them enough. Well this funny looking man coming in and he will help you get out. Robert told them. Remember it isn't their fault. Their daddy was a bad. Robert told the adults.

Q went in and brought out the two kids. They put them directly into the tub of goo. They started to eat the stuff like they hadn't eaten in along time. "Nurse, watch them, so they don't run out of food." Tom told her laughing. "Now how is Comis doing? He ran a scanner over her, you are doing fine. Now young man what . . . he looked down and the boy was asleep at his feet. He leaned over and picked him up. Laying him on the next bio bed, and to keep him from falling off the bed, He activated the force field.

P'nal walked in. "There he is he kept saying he had to get here, before Aunty died." P'nal told them. "How is she doing?"

She and babies are doing well. Tom told her. Taking her over to the tub they asked the boy if they could try this instead of dying. So we put them in it. He ran the scanner over them. They are doing well. Tom was pleased.

"Well I should get this one back to the school. She reached over before he could stop her she jumped as she hit the force field. Why is he in that, I know he was bad to come here, but not that bad?" P'nal yelled.

"The Captian told her to calm down. He put the field up so the boy couldn't fall off the bed, and hurt himself." Chakotay said in a stern voice. "Now young lady you tell me what is wrong with you?" Chakotay ordered.

"Every since this thing with my grandmother broke I'm being shunned by my friends and some family I'm not use to such behavior." P'nal said. "My Grandfather is in a world of his own."

Tom reaches over and shut off the force field. "There now you can have him. Standing next to the bed, he said. P'nal listen: your grandfather is in a state of shock. Think how you felt when it came out, and you only knew her for fourteen years. Now your grandfather was married to her, had children and grandchildren with her. She is the person that he has loved for years. He finds out has been a torturer of children. How do you think he feels about that? Look at how you reacted to the force field? Had you been in your logical mode you would have known that the field would be there for the child's protection." Tom told her.

She hung her head. "You are right I guess I'm in just as bad a state as he is. Captian Chakotay can. I have one of those daddy hugs?" P'nal asked.

Chakotay smiled. "Come here little one."

"She looks Vulcan, but she acts human." Q looked at Kathryn for an answer.

"P'nal is half human. The chemicals in the water did this to most of the people on the planet. The stuff was set up to make them revert to being the savages they use to be. That is why we are trying to get rid of it." Kathryn told him.

"Well we better get for home before the littlest one tears things up too bad." Q laughed and they popped out together.

"Now have you had enough daddy hugs? I have a ship to run." Chakotay reaches over taking Kathryn's hand. "I think it is time for little one learns what it is like to have some mama hugs. Turning to Comis, and some sibling hugs. She has been through a lot." Chakotay smiled. "I will be on the bridge if anyone wants me for anything else."

Kathryn smiled. She clasped both arms a round P'nal and squeezing a little. "That is a mama hug. Come calling anytime I will be glad to oblige you." She said.

Comis said. "Come here and I will show you a sister hug. Do you suppose I might get one in return? I could sure use it?"

P'nal put her arms around Comis and squeezed lightly. "I must get back to the school before I get reported. Dr. Janeway, who do I report to that Vidita and Gosheven are leaving their children with me until they check out what has happened on their planet?" P'nal asked.

"Report it to your grandfather. P'nal, you can call me Aunt Kathryn." Kathryn told her. "If we are in a meeting or a formal reception. You then have to call me Dr. Janeway."

At the look of total confusion on P'nal's face, Comis said. "Later I will explain it to you. Remember I grew up with it. You just inherited it."

P'nal picked up the boy. Leaving the sick bay, she ran into Phoebe. "What is the mater with Robert?"

"Nothing, he just saved your sister's babies." P'nal told her. Dr. Paris will explain it all. We have been gone so long that I 'm going to get into trouble if I don't get back to the school. See you later.

Phoebe walked into the bay. "What is this about my son saving children?" Phoebe asked. She wasn't looking at anyone in particular.

Kathryn said. "Come here dear. There they are. They haven't quite eating, since they were put in there."

"According to Robert they were about to die. She didn't have enough food to feed them." Kathryn told her.

"I wish people would ask before they ask him to do these things." Phoebe said.

"No one asked him. He just came in and asked Comis if he could talk to them. First he introduced himself. Then he asked Tom about this tank. Q went in and brought them out safely." Kathryn told her.

"I'm going to have to put that boy in a cage to keep him in school long enough to learn anything." Phoebe told her mother.

"Have Mr. Condor work with you on away to protect Robert from himself." Kathryn told her.

Maria's voice came over the comm. "We did it the water is clean!!!" She screamed. Everyone laughed. "Well I think she has to be taught that they do not permit yelling over the comm." Kathryn said.

"This is the Captian. We will be leaving the dock in one hour. All visitors must be off in one half hour." Chakotay told them. At our next stop we will be leaving Vidita and Gosheven behind. A reception will be held in the large game room.

Three days later they arrived at Baldassare. The reception was in full swing when the Q's showed up. Maria was standing with Charlie waiting for the time she could leave for some reason she was so tired. Suddenly she grabbed Charlie and passed out. Charlie hit his comm. badge, two too sick bay. As they shimmered out Tom looked over toward them, he hit his badge. "Where did Maria and Charlie beam too?" Tom asked.

They went to Sick bay three. "B'Elanna come on." He grabbed her arm "Charlie and Maria just transported too sick bay."

They quietly left the room. They got to the sick bay. Tom said. "What is going on Charlie?"

"I'm not sure sir she grabbed me then passed out." Charlie said looking as though he had lost his best friend.

"Hang in there, Charlie, it can't be to bad. No one here would want to hurt her." Tom told her.

"Dr. Paris would you come here for a minute?" Dr. Pritch called him over. "They have given her tooris-pjpj, they give it then six weeks to three months you lose your baby. It was outlawed because of what is happening now. The child is too old to abort. They will damage the baby. The stuff cuts off the oxygen. That's why it takes so long." I can't take them out and put them in goo."

"Charlie we know what and maybe who. We need to figure if we should go ahead and finish the abortion." Tom told him. This stuff. . . . The door opened and T'mar walked in carrying Robert dressed in his pjs. Take him down to one. The doctor there is handling sickness. Tom said to his son.

T'mar sat on the bed next to his sister. Bowing his head. "Go ahead son talk to the baby."

Robert smiled. "Hi in there I'm Robert. How are you? Yes we know you don't feel to good. Yes someone give your mommy somethin. She didn't do this. She loves you. Yes well because of the way you get your oxygen and food the goo wont work for you. Well you have to be able to swallow on your own."

"Well I can ask. Grandpa can. You get some more air to him."

"He gave Maria a bolus of tryox compound to increase her breathing. How is that?" Tom smiled. This is a first for me taking instruction from a three-year-old.

"That's better."

Everybody was so busy with Maria that they didn't notice what Charlie was doing. He was standing in the corner, talking to some one from security. I want to know who if anyone of the staff other then Dr. Maria Paris worked at Diestrum institute just before coming to this ship. Just give me the list I don't want to make a complaint just yet mostly I want to talk to them. Thompson out.

The Captian heard the request. "This is the Captian send the list to my office. Mr. Thompson is to close to the problem." Chakotay smiled. "Your right in what you are thinking. I don't want anyone to say well he threatened me or he beat me.

"I would never do those things. Thompson told him riotously.

"Thompson I know that, but remember anyone that would do this type of crime. Would stop at nothing of telling a lie or two to protect themselves from being prosecuted?"

"That is true sir. Sorry to have over step my position." Thompson said apologetically.

"No problem, you were thinking like a security man. You know on the way to Mars I think I will get Mr. Nelix to run checks on all of the crew, from me down. What do you think?"

It sounds right and it would cover what we really want to know. Thompson told him.

"Is that the way they ran security at Diestrum when you were there?" Chakotay asked.

"Yes sir."

"Well on my ships that doesn't happen. Why don't you go over there and hold your wife's hand?"

"They don't want me over there getting in the way." Charlie said.

"You come with me." The Captain said. He walked with him up to the head of the bed. "Maria, I found this man over in the corner looking very worried about both of you."

"Charlie hold me. Bobby, this is the baby's daddy." Maria told him.

"Yes he's mad I would be scared if he wasn't. What would you like to be called when you get here? Robert smiled, I will tell them. Do you think you will be ok? I'm sleepy." Robert curled up and started to go to sleep. "Oh! Aunt Maria, he wants to be called Charlie after his daddy." He promptly went to sleep.

Everyone began too laughed. "I guess the danger is over T'mar you can take him home and put him in his own bed." Tom told him.

"I will leave you to take care of the patient from here on. Should you run into problems? Call me." Tom told her.

"Just call if you need the boy, his mother or I will bring him back." Tamar told them.

The next morning the list was on the Captian's desk. Chakotay pushed the button, on his desk that called Mr. Nelix "My ready room as soon as possible." Captian out.

I'll be right there. Nelix out.

The door chirped. Come Mr. Nelix. I have a very delicate problem. Mr. Thompson what are you doing here? I told you would have to sit this one out. Chakotay said.

I know sir, but Mr. Nelix didn't know that sir. Thompson said.

"Mr. Thompson you go back, and I'm sorry I wouldn't listen before when you tried to tell me." Nelix ordered.

"You called about a delicate matter sir? Mr. Nelix asked.

"This is a list of names. I want them all spoken to about their work at the institute. Maria Thompson all most lost her baby last night. It was chemically done they introduced this chemical into her body before she left there. I want to find out who did it, who ordered it. I think it was the head of the place, but we need proof. I told Thompson he couldn't have anything to do with it because if we get enough evidence. I don't want the courts throwing it out because some lawyer says he made it up." Chakotay told him. "He was ordering the list. When I got to sick bay to find out what had happened. He is good." Chakotay said with respect.

Nelix smiled. "That he is. When can I question Maria?"

He asked.

"Check with Dr. Paris." Chakotay told him.

"Tom or T'mar?" Nelix asked.

"Tom. Chakotay smiled. I sometimes have a problem be leaving all of Tom's children have a Doctor in front of their names." He said.

Nelix smiled. "Well sir I should get to this problem."

He got up and left the office.

Chakotay sat there trying to figure out what was going on. When his door chirped again, Kathryn walked in. "Well. My love I hear there is an investigation of people from Diestrum going on." Kathryn told him.

"I think I need this office sweep for bugs. Have you talked to Maria this morning?" Chakotay asked.

"No why? Is she alright?" Kathryn asked.

"Someone tried to kill her baby. They used tooris-pjpj." He told her.

" That stuff was outlawed thirty years ago." Kathryn told him.

"I know that is why I suspect it was done at Diestrum. I don't think the culprit is here. Someone in that crew is going to know something, a piece of illegal research, a missing vial of something." Chakotay told her.

"Chakotay do you remember when we were on the planet of Nomeds. I told you some things the man told me and didn't Tell you or anyone all of it. He also told me that if all of us would stick together we would be alright. It seems that every time someone goes away from the main body something bad happens. They can go to school, but they can't go outside to work." Kathryn said wonder in her voice.

"I was thinking the same thing. All of our original group's children are doctors of one kind or another, or are married to them. The grandchildren are all real smart they run most of their teachers ragged trying to keep up with them. They all tested well over two hundred on Vulcan." Chakotay said.

"What brought you in here to begin with? Chakotay asked.

"Oh yeah P'nal called me this morning asking how to feed four at once." I think the girl needs help, but who?"

"Well as mom protium you go in and have her tell you when the roughest times are then you call. Tuvok and have him assign someone to help her at those times." The Captian told her.

"You my love make it sound so easy." Kathryn teased him.

"Well I should get out of here I have a meeting with medical research in an hour. They want to do a study on the effects of sand on the body all species."

"That sounds like a grating subject. Chakotay told her.

"Oh! That is bad Chakotay." She groaned. Laughing as she left his office.

"Hi Nelix what are you up to, besides the investigation? How is Susan doing with running the school?" Kathryn asked.

"Susan is doing great. What investigation?" Nelix asked.

"Nelix it was all over the ship before you even got to Chakotay's office. Kathryn laughed.

"Kathryn Kathryn, you of all people should know better then to believe the rumor mill." Nelix chided her. "I need you to come back in there and help me explain some of this. Hi Dr. Pritch you know Dr. Janeway. Shall we go in doctors?" Nelix asked. Nelix followed by the two doctors walked in to the office.

"Mr Nelix what can I do for you?" The Captian asked.

"Well sir, Nelix told him because of our so great rumor mill. I didn't have to ask any questions they all gave me a report that has a run down of everything."

"That happened at Diestrum, even to some top secret military stuff. Things that use tooris-pjpj, or like substance. He could have gotten it, is real easy he was head of the place."

"How she might have gotten it was easy a lot of the time. They said. We get busy and some aid would stick a meal under your nose and you eat as you work."

"I have the two doctors here, to explain some of this stuff. They want him in prison for this. What has happened they are wondering if their family have been use in like manor. A woman married to a doctor, and is also is a doctor herself has lost five children the same way as Maria." Nelix told them. "I told them to report to sick bay and asked Tom to do a very fine point exam on each. The one lost hers two days, before coming here. That was why she was late reporting a Doctor Matilda Wayne." Nelix stopped talking.

"Well give us the stuff you don't understand and let us read it over." Kathryn said. He handed them each a pack of padds about four inches thick.

Kathryn look at Doda. "He doesn't want. Much does he." Doda looked a the pile. "Your right he doesn't." Both began to laugh.

The Captian said. "Well ladies if you are not up to the task? I could fine someone else to read and digest. Get it down so us lay people can understand it."

The door beeped "come" The Captian called out.

Tom Paris walked in. "You were right. Nelix, they did lose them in the way Maria almost lost her's." I didn't run the tests myself as you can see I had Dr. Mott do it. No tainted evidence.

He laughed. "My daughter is laying in the sick bay holding court over every thing. The ladies only question was how soon can we try again to have children. They told us about a lady that died when she lost hers. She bleed to death. This should be enough to get them to investigate?" Tom asked.

"Who do we have that is not directly involved with Tom and his family?" Chakotay asked.

At the looks of confusion, he said. "Well if I had my way all this information would be turned over to the authorities. Out of our hands, so that he can be tried for this woman's death. We have to go past Vulcan on our way to Baldassare. We could drop it off there?" Chakotay asked.

" How far out of the way is Earth?" Tom asked. " You could put all the paper work in a sealed container. I'm concerned about laying any more on the Vulcan. I think they got enough to handle with what the water did to them." Tom said.

"Well, What do you think Mr. Nelix? Chakotay asked.

"Not knowing many Vulcan other then Mr. Tuvok I wouldn't really know what they can handle." Nelix stated.

"Maybe you should consult Mr. Tuvok about the problem. At their look of concern don't give him the problem, and tell him to handle it, but just ask his opinion on it. Remember when I lost Kess you all tried to take over for me and all I wanted was to do my job and anything else I could find so I didn't have to think about the emptiness and hurt. I felt." Nelix told them.

"Leave everything with me. I will take care of it. Mr. Nelix bring me one of your security containers. You are all dismissed. The Captian said.

They got up and left the office. Kathryn said. "I feel for him its that lonely at the top time."

"I better get that container." Mr. Nelix said.

"We should get back to work." Kathryn said.

"Kathryn?" Doda asked quietly.

"What is it Doda?" Kathryn asked.

" Well I'm not sure what if anything it relates to this. My friend said he heard that the military was trying to develop a weapon that would do something like this. It be put in the water and . . . . ." Kathryn grab her arm and headed for Chakotay's office. At his command come in. They went in."

"Chakotay! Listen to this tell him, and give the man's name." Kathryn told her. Kathryn put her hand on her arm.

"Well sir. I have a friend Harry Furth that worked at the DS9. He said that he had heard that the military was trying to develop a weapon that would work in a similar fashion. It wouldn't hurt anyone but the women would just cannot carry their children to term. I didn't say anything before because I wasn't sure that it was the same thing. That's why I asked Kathryn first if she thought they might be related. Here we are. Doda said.

"Next time say something. Let me worry if it is relevant or not. Here is your report about Maria Make a note say what you just told me" The Captian ordered her. "Mr. Tuvok come to my ready room now." The Captian ordered. "She handed back the padd. Now the two of you get out of here you have lolly gaged around here long enough." He told them.

Doda look at Kathryn confused. "I'll explain it as we walk." Kathryn said. When they got out side the door, Kathryn explained. "Lollygag, is an old Earth saying it means you have sat around long enough here in stead of working."

"We have been married nearly thirty years. I still can't get him to stop using those sayings. After a while you get the hang of them. If you get stuck call me you won't be the first, or I fear the last." Kathryn laughed.

Tuvok walked into the Captian's office. "You sent for me sir?" Tuvok asked.

"Yes how are you doing my friend?" Chakotay asked.

"I am fine sir." Tuvok said.

"Fine, then you are ready to help P'nal with her grief over what happened. That child is hurting and don't understand why. What she is supposed to do?"

"She blew up at Tom because he had put a force field around Robert. The boy was sleeping on a bio-bed. She thought he was punishing the boy."

"The part about her grandmother's being a baby abuser has her freaked. I think you will find that she is wondering if she is capable of such things." Chakotay told him.

"Now what I brought you in for. What is your opinion of the stability of the Vulcan people?"

"Nelix found out that Diestrum was or is developing biologic weapons. They got one that causes the women to lose their children, before they are born."

"We have five women that lost their babies the ones that worked there. They put it in the water. Do you think they can handle this with the strain they are under?" Chakotay asked.

Tuvok looked at his hands. "As long as I'm not involved with the telling or the work. Everything I've ever done is now under investigation.

"Have you told P'nal? How long has this been going on? Let me guess since before we left. That explains the fact that P'nal was shunned by her friends and even part of the family. You my friend better explain to the child she thinks it's her fault that you want nothing to do with her." Chakotay told him.

"How is it that you understand my granddaughter better then I do?" Tuvok asked.

"Because of the water she is acting just like a human kid her age. Remember back when my girls were fourteen or so?" Chakotay asked. "Did you know that Vidita and Gosheven have left their children with her until we return? They didn't know what to expect on the planet, so they wanted the children safe. They left them with her."

"Did they know what my wife did?" Tuvok showed the wonder that he felt.

"With Vidita working with her in the school, she learn just how P'nal would handle them." Chakotay told him. "Do you think if a stranger can trust her with her most precious things with her. You could trust her with your worries and your feeling, because she is hurting? Her parents have dumped her then, the thing with your wife. Even though you and her have ties, you don't know each other." Chakotay smiled.

Tuvok got up. "I left Ensign Packard in charge on the bridge I will be in my quarters if something comes up. He hit his comm. badge. Commander Tuvok to Crewman P'nal."

"Crewman P'nal here sir."

"My office now." Tuvok turned and left the office.

Tuvok got to his office just as she did. "Come with me." When they got to his quarters. "Sit my child. It has come to my attention that you are having some difficulty."

"This problem is with your grandmother. Both of us are suffering great deal. I'm being investigated everything I have done in my life. That is why your friends and family wouldn't speak to you they didn't dare."

"This my child has nothing what so ever to do with you and as far as you being like your grandmother you won't because you are going to take steps to prevent it. Tomorrow you will contact Mr. Condar and ask him to help you over the worst of this."

"He sat beside her now I'm going to ask you to do me the honer of doing a share mind meld. You will know everything that I know and feel. I will do like wise you are my only family

He sat there for a minute then he place his fingers in the approbate places. Then he said the words my mind to your mind then he added with love and care. Your mind to my mind

They sat that way with tears rolling down her checks. P'nal let him in the peace with him that she had found with no one else.

This was something Vulcan didn't do unless they were dying.

"No dear I'm not nor are you this is done sometimes in this type of lose." Tuvok told her.

"So many unanswered questions, feelings of what did I do wrong. Now we both know we didn't do anything wrong it was all your grandmothers doing she didn't care about us. She told the authorities she wanted to be queen as was her birth right." Tuvok told her.

"Grandfather, I realize now what is happening. Do you suppose that we could keep the best of both worlds? Uncle Chakotay and Aunt Kathryn have taught me what it is like to have real parents. I like the hugs that he gives me. I feel safe and warm inside. They are not the same as what I feel when Victor hugs me. I never could figure out why our people gave it up?"

P'nal asked quietly.

"I think the ancestors swung the pendulum the other way to far." She told him.

"Maybe so I don't know. . . ."

"Bridge to Commander Tuvok"

"Tuvok here."

"You have an incoming message from your daughter SH'mada. Sir. It is marked urgent the Captian said I should contact you immediately."

"Yes transfer it to my quarters. Mr. Kim.

Tuvok and P'nal walked over to the com center.

"It read. Dear Father; Mom killed herself this morning they contacted me. They said there was a problem. I couldn't find S'lin. So I sent this sub space."

Tuvok turned and walked over and sat in the chair, just staring.

P'nal tapped her badge. " Aunt Kathryn please come to Grandpa quarters please." P'nal said then crumbled on the floor in tears.

Kathryn got to Tuvok's quarters. When she got no answer.

"Janeway over ride alpha 56654. Janeway to Tom Paris."

"Paris here."

"You better get up here Tuvok's quarters." Kathryn spoke with her usual command.

"On my way." Tom said.

Tom and Chakotay showed up at the same time. "What is going on I have no idea. P'nal called over general that she need me. She called me Aunt Kathryn. I tried to over ride. I forgot, and used my old code." Kathryn said.

"Chakotay command over ride alpha 8559. The door opened. They saw the girl on the floor.

Tom went to work checking out Tuvok and P'nal. "They seem to be physically fine, but in a state of shock."

Chakotay was over by the comm center. Something caught his eye. "I think I just found the problem. They got a letter from SH'mada. Amanda killed herself." Chakotay told them. "Do you think they need to be in sick bay?"

Oh! Dear the school will be getting out soon and we have to find someone to take the babies for her. Kathryn said.

Chakotay push on his badge. " Captian Chakotay to crewman Victor Wilson."

"Crewman Wilson here sir."

"Victor can you and a friend take the babies P'nal is taking care of for a few hours for me? P'nal has had bad news from home." Captian out.

"Dad this is Comis can. We help."

"Dad this is T'mar what is up? Robert is crying like I have never heard him. He is begging for P'nal and I cant find her?" Tom a straighten up. T'mar give him a hypospray Tuvok's wife died. Tuvok and P'nal are both passed out. He should be okay until we get this figured out."

"Dad death shouldn't cause them to pass out." T'mar told him.

"Then what would?" Tom demanded.

Chakotay said. "Brace yourself we don't need you going out too. What if she committed suicide?" Chakotay said. "T'mar are you there?"

"Yeah, I'm here that would be worse then what she already done to them. Thanks for the warning." T'mar said. "Well Robert is sleeping." T'mar out.

Chakotay and Tom moved Tuvok to his bed, and laid P'nal next to him. "Since they don't need medical help. I will set with them until they wake up." Kathryn told them. "Just let me run and get a book."

P'nal started to wake up. "Kathryn mom Kathryn."

"P'nal I'm right here." She sat next to her holding her hand.

P'nal rolled toward her and curled up around her.

Tuvok rolled over. "Chakotay can you pick her up enough for Kathryn to hold her. Just before the message came in she was asking if we could keep the hugging." Smiling he said. "She says your hugs make her feel warm and protected."

"Why would she and how did she get anything to do it?" Tuvok asked.

Chakotay smiled. "Well I can't answer that, but I think that you are awake you had better call SH'mada. Then explain what has happened." Chakotay told him.

I was going to do it, when we got there. Tuvok said.

"We will be there in about two hours." The Captian said. You could have her come on board and the three of you have a talk.

"Thank you sir. I think will. He started to get up. I think I will lay here awhile." Tuvok said.

Tom said. "That is a good idea. I want both of you to get some sleep. The Captian can call asking her to meet you on board."

"O Kay" he rolled over and placed his arms a round his granddaughter.

Chakotay went back to the bridge. "Mr. Kim get me Mars station." Locate a lady named SH'mada. She is Tuvok's daughter. Then put it through to my ready room. He got up and went into his ready room.

"Bridge to the Captian"

"Captian here."

"Your call to SH'mada."

"Thank you . He pushed a button. SH'mada daughter of Tuvok?

"Yes, You are?" She asked.

"Chakotay Captian of the Comar. Your father and P'nal are on board. We will be docking in two hours. Your father would like you to join him and P'nal for dinner this evening. He would like to explain what has happened and why you couldn't contact your sister. May I tell him your coming."

"I have a question why are you calling in stead of him?" SH'amada asked.

He passed out after reading your letter and the doctor told him to rest. It will make sense after he explains. Chakotay said.

"Tell him we will be there." She told him.

"Computer a message for Tuvok. SH'amada will be here for dinner."

The next day everything was back to some sort of order. Chakotay and Kathryn were in their quarters. " Boy! What a day we had yesterday. Tuvok told his family about everything his wife and the government was doing about it. They decided to give the planet a wide berth for a while. A Starfleet admiral I know is going back to Earth. He said that he would take the information for us." Chakotay told her.
