The faeries of the Nile
On the large peninsula inbetween the white and the green Nile, there lives a tribe called al-Karnina. They possess and use a tract of land that gets water from both the Nile and the rain. When it is time to sow, all members of the tribe go to the land , each with all the seeds he has. They look for a part of land, big enough for the amount of seeds they have and peg it out. Then, they sow a few seeds at the corners and leave the rest with some beer in the middle. After that, they return home. The next morning, all the pegged out fields are fully sown and the beer is gone.
When it is time to harvest, these people only cut down a small part of the fields, this is put on a spot near to it, with again some beer. The next day the whole field is mown and the corn or other plants are neatly bound together. The same happens when one wants his grain treshed. Or often it happens that someone would like his fields free from weed. When he pulls out a few weeds, leaves them on the field with some beer, the next morning all weeds will be gone, as well as the beer.
The area that is spoken of here, is quite large, it takes two months to walk from one side to the other both in length and in width. Yet all the fields are sown in the same time.....
Some of the people that live in this area, claim to have seen these spirits, that do all the hard work for them. The spirits are helping with the aid of a stone, which makes them helpful, and the things they can do are said to be amazing, even the clouds are told to obey these people.
