HOLOWORLD FLEET is a Play-By-Email roleplaying game based around the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe. The club has been in existence since 1996 and remains one of the longest continuously running Star Trek roleplaying organizations, including some of the oldest PBeM units on the internet. Set in the early 25th century (approximately 50 years after the end of TNG), HWF is a literature-based game of collective storytelling where the players roleplay through writing the lives and adventures of characters serving in Starfleet.

HOLOWORLD FLEET is set in a secluded section of space known by most spacefarers as the COCOON: an expanse of space surrounded by a dense impenetrable mixture of space debris, dark matter and nebulae known as the VEIL. The COCOON's outer wall has been well charted and extends into the Alpha Quadrant beyond Bajor. For centuries however, its interior remained unexplored. In 2397 the USS NEWTON discovered a way through the VEIL at a small opening. This opening, known as the PORTAL, exists as the only known way in or out of the COCOON and is the COCOON FLEET's only access to the outside.

Although STARFLEET has been in the COCOON for over a decade, much of it still remains unexplored; it hosts an unusually high number of class M planets and a wide variety of native alien lifeforms. The COCOON FLEET serves the Federation's interests in the region as well as providing protection and STARFLEET assistance to the few member worlds that have joined the Federation since the COCOON FLEET began its exploration of this isolated frontier. The COCOON FLEET currently comprises several starships and starbases as it continues to "go where no person has gone before".

This website includes all of the background and information required to play in this exciting, imaginative game. If you have questions, please view our FAQ or email the appropriate Admin Officer.

Ro offered Mason his open arms.
-----<unsnip>-----

Mason slammed into Ro with enough force to drive him back a step-or-two. She
stood trembling as his arms encircled her. Not knowing what else to do, she
simply stood there, feeling the warmth.

Safety.

This was the only place she ever felt safe.

Mason rested her head upon Ro’s shoulder and tried to calm her breathing to a
more steady pace. Her heart pounded from witnessing the scene in the Security
Suite. She had thought the CO to be unshakeable. The model of ...

The shuttle settled smoothly onto the deck. The pilot quickly ran through
the shut-down procedures.

"All ashore that's going ashore, Lieutenant," the pilot said as he
unstrapped.

With a nod to the pilot, Jack did likewise and gathered up his bags.

Stepping from the shuttle he could see that the shuttlebay was a bee-hive of
activity. He took a few seconds to glance around and settle his
'game-face' into place. It was a carefully crafted facade of polite
interest that Jack had learned to present to the world while in the Telmarc
P.O.W. camp. A P.O.W. exchange had freed him from the physical
imprisonment. He had held the facade during the debriefings, through
multiple counseling sessions and interrogations, in public and private
moments. It enabled him to go through the motions.

Jack noticed a Lieutenant Commander ...

Ro had been on the Bridge when the small D-Warp ship came barreling into the
Shuttle bay. The captain had taken his leave and was gone like a bullet from a
gun.

Ro had served with the Captain too long; he knew his Commanding Offcier from
more than just Psyc evaluations; they were friends and the look of the Captain
raised concerns that Ro dare not leave to hand.

"Ro to Shuttle bay One." Ro called. "How many occupants left that warp Shuttle
and where were they heading?"

Ro had no surprise as the reply was that the occupant moved so fast it was a
wonder if the Inner ship tracking units could keep up with her?

"By the Prophets." Ro said to himself. "Two bullets in the same direction... A
sudden thought came to him.

It wasn't the second time ever that he had been on the
DEMORA bridge, but Darr'chuh almost felt like it was
since it had been so long since he'd been her FO. He
loved the elegant, utilitarian sweep of her design. It
was no-nonsense and beautiful at the same time.

Warfield caught sight of him after just a minute or so
and waved him forward. Curious, Darr'chuh trudged to
his host captain's side, trying to stay as much out of
the way of the bridge staff as he could manage. Warfield
was holding a PADD which he offered Darr'chuh once the
Mov got close enough.

"Word doesn't just travel at warp speed onboard..." he
said with a wry expression.

They both sat. Intrigued, Darr'chuh read the two messages
addressed to him from OMEGA. One had already been
accessed, as it was also addressed to Warfield and Ro.

The sound of laughter drew Kelsi Biaret from her office. Not the fact that there
was laughter, more so that the laughter came from ICU dedicated suites, and that
it came from a child. High pitched and filled with glee, it was sorely out of
place in a medical ward filled with Telmarc refugees fleeing the civil unrest.

For all intensive purposes it was war, though Kelsi knew the current description
of “unrest” was nothing more than political posturing. In response, the
Federation, limited by the need to adhere to the Prime Directive, was reduced to
almost a voyeur’s perspective, able to assist, treat, and protect only those
who made it across the neutral zone. The key word of that phrase was “made
it.” And very few of them did so.

Telmarc Warships patrolled their side of the neutral zone taking shots at any
and all vessels attempting to flee across to the Federation controlled
territory. ...

Work keeps the mind occupied. Unable to wander. Unable to regret. Unable to
wonder why you lived while others did not. Why you made it out. Why you

Work is definitely good.

Kelsi stretched her arms over her head and stifled a yawn. Every general bed in
sickbay was filled, occupied by the old and the young. Most were injured. Only
a few were sick. Broken bones, respiratory inflammation, and muscle trauma.
Many were malnourished; thin skin stretched taught over ragged bones spoke of a
consistent lack of food. Reintroduction had not been gentle for several of the
refugees. Starved bodies moved much slower at healing than a healthy one, so
open wounds and oozing sores were weeks old.

There were several surgical beds still available, as well as her ICU units. She
