While mining the astroid field, the HORIZON gets news that SB SAPPHIRE has been attacked, but held with heavy losses. Soon after they depart for SB OMEGA. Everyone deals with the pain of the losses in their own way. Epona starts to think about a battle plan for retaliation, Nova`Song muses about the reason for war at all, holodecks are frequented more often and intensive, and Kallesin wonders about human reaction to losses.
Vymora`s secret messages involve a Ferengi, who is so fond of her he wants to own her. A bad idea. He is staying on board to manage the lounge with the holoCyridian. She also engages Kallesin in a new holodeck mystery involving the secrets of Atlantis.
Captain Burke sets a mission briefing in which he hands out promotions to Nova´Song (now Lieutenant Commander), robert O`Brady (now Lietenant JG), and Sam Dwight (now Lieutenant jg). Sam also gets awarded with the Zefram Cochrane medal. Vymora Einicrox, Kallesin n`Galeda and Ensign Epona O`leary, who shouldn`t have a chance for promotion for another 4 ˝ months, get promoted to Full Lieutenants and Lieutenants jg because of their devotion and service to the ship. All crew will get 12 hours of leave on SB OMEGA, rotating through a 60 hour span of time.
After the briefing, Epona tells Burke about her thoughts concerning an attack on SB OMEGA but he doesn´t give her an answer if she is right with her presumptions and everything. She, Sam and Bob celebrate their promotions on the base. Epona there gets a live message from her father, who is as he says just in the near. But she has a strange feeling about it.
All in secret, preparations are made for the famous Mystery Bar, an illegal party held every night on the base at different locations as not to inform base security about it. Being caught there would mean brig time and demotion at least. Alcohol runs freely there and food is served in abundance.
Cady asks Epona to accompany him to the party and would like to "hang out more with her" because she already knows so much about him. She gladly agrees and makes her own preparations for the party, e.g. replicating alcohol free whiskey she experimented with at the Academy for MoonRising. The Sivaoan also gets invited by her.
Vymora starts her own party with security until she learns about the Mystery Bar and decides to change locations and make the party even more interesting with a couple of kegs of bloodwine.
James Burke is reunited with his wife Kathryn, who has just become a mother of a girl, Cassandra.
At the party, everyone enjoys him- or herself.
At the party, Epona and Cady have a good start, but they soon get into a row, both not knowing some things about the other. Epona doesn`t get an answer from Cady, who is clearly sulking, when she tells him she will be his friend forever, no matter what happens, when Jarek Malaar and his wife Trinity appear at the location, too, Jarek looking like a silly warning beacon. Later, dancing with Epona, Jarek realizes he is too drunk to keep on his feet for the task.
Nova`Song dresses up for the party as well, dancing on the upper floor and making everyone look as she dances like only a Mystic can do.
Chief Walker finds interest in a Galamite woman and doesn`t find someone to enjoy the whisky he is tasting with him as Sawyer is quickly punch drunk.
Vymora Einicrox forms a plan to get Blirp, the Ferengi drunk to evade his passes at her. She fills him up with bloodwine, performing oo-mox on him.
Nova`Song meets the runner of the Mystery Bar, an enigmatic woman calling herself M.
MoonRising teaches an Orion boy, trying to get a partner for the night, a lesson in dancing with people he can´t really sort out.
Fred Bordaq is back and dropping in on the party with Amy, the other Bordaq waiting for his turn..
Robert O`Brady finds out about the party by chance and decides to drop in as well.
Sam misses the party, working long on his engineering report for Starfleet Engineering, but his recommendations and improvements are met with full approval.
Vymora Einicrox is trying to get over her hangover the next morning with a vigorous holodeck workout set in the "Path of Serinity" series in ancient China, when Roman Davidovich is confiding to her that he is in love with a duranium mining engineer. That evening she is meeting with Kallesin for a romantic dinner and a private belly dance for him.
The AUDRE LORDE and the USS HARLEM along with the SUNDANCER and STARCHILD drop in at Starbase OMEGA as well in preparation of retaking OP 721. All senior officers and some invited guests, including Jarek Malaar of the USS RENEGADE, Captain Shiana Hanari of the USS THUNDERSTAR and Second Defence Minster Ulran of the Gironan Defence Force along with Captain Burke, Nova`Song and Vymora Einicrox, meet for the first tactical planning the morning after the party.. A marine and a fighter squadron will be placed aboard the HORIZON, who will lead the main attack on the base while others will distract the Telmarc forces there with an attack on the Telmarc fleet yards.
Also, the next morning, Epona gets permission to leave the HORIZON for some secret task on the base, after she went to see Sam Dwight for improvements on the inertial dampeners.
Arkanis and Cady are informed about the marines stationed on the HORIZON for the moment and their role in retaking OP72. Cady, Arkanis and Major Lordmiller of the 47th Battalion Starfleet Marine Corps get at each others throat as the Major warns the SpecOps team to keep out of his way. He also doesn`t like Cady, whom he still considers a traitor, but Cady keeps a grip on himself for Epona`s sake.
That evening a state dinner is taking place aboard the AURORA, with all senior officers present. Cady shows his new haircut, crew-cut, for the first time and Epona warns Lordmiller in her own ways not to pester Cady anymore or she will get her hands on his anatomy. Vymora tries to clear the situation before it gets out of hand, reminding them that there is an enemy out there and that they have to work together to beat him instead of quarrelling among themselves.
Fred Bordaq (the real one) and his wife Amy visit the Mystery Bar as well.
Robert O`Brady meets Eleanor Jameson, the CO of the USS SCARLET STAR, at the party.
Lieutenant Murdoch Green from the USS RENEGADE gets himself caught by a security sweep at the Mystery Bar and ends up in the brig, only to be released by Jarek Malaar himself. He is demoted to Ensign again and assigned to the HORIZON SpecOps team as a pilot. All others from the HORIZON get out well in time. On the HORIZON he disregards his orders to meet Arkanis in the SpecOps core and goes to the bridge instead, almost rubbing Arkanis the wrong way by his actions.
At the dinner, Lieutenant Einicrox stops the bickering between Lordmiller and Cady by remembering them that they have to work together to beat the Telmarc. Later, Kallesin approaches Lordmiller to question him about social interaction at a party or such but the Major leaves him as quickly as possible
At the end of the dinner, Admiral Tergin asks Epona about her relationship to Cady but she refuses to say more than that she will be his friend forever. She learns from him that the Vulcan Doctor Samik asked for her to return to OMEGA for further training.
Captain Burke still has to be get comfortable with a limited empathic and telepathic daughter who is communicating with him and his wife even in her sleep.
Well after the party, Epona sets another holodeck simulations for the pilots, including Green, wanting to observe their abilities and their interaction with each other. She is quite content with the results, but surprises Green by not trying to befriend, intimidate or impress him like he is used to . After the simulation Green remembers seeing her at the Mystery Bar. Finishing her review of the data Epona collected, she decides to get some relaxation in her climbing program and, for the first time, reaches the top of the wall she failed to make for such a long time.
Epona also asks Sam Dwight to find a way to boost the inertial dampeners in case she has to execute some fancy manoeuvres at OP 72.
Sam activates the Emergency Engineering Hologram for the first time. The new specs that he devised are implemented on the USS AURORA as well. Sam gets complimented on his work by Commander Thovar, the CEO of the AURORA.
Sometime in between, Jamie Parr interrupts Cady and Epona at breakfast. Epona reacts sharply to his presence, while Cady attempts to find out why she doesn`t like him at all. From her reactions he guesses there are deeper feelings within Epona for the diplomat and announced to set her up with him without her knowing.
Nova`Song discusses the tactics about retaking OP 721 with Cady and Arkanis.
Bordaq asks Arkanis to help him deal with the other guy.
Two days before departure, the TTM (Troop Transport Module) is attached to the HORIZON while other ships arrive and they are waiting for more.
Lordmiller doesn't go well along with Cady as well, driving him into almost attacking him but clearing up the fronts by showing the Major he wouldn`t stand a chance against Cady. Epona meets Cady right after it and remarking on his smirking face he reminds her that she is as unforgiving in regard to Parr as the Major is regarding Cady`s actions with the Telmarc. She promises to show him what the diplomat did do wrong later.
Blirp, the Ferengi bar keeper tries to "purchase" Vymora off Kallesin who threatens him with the fact that the android is not bound by the robotic laws. Vymora puts an end to the discussion by taking him to security in order to learn more about his secret spy suit he wore at the party and that has been found by men. It can be used to make recordings of everything without being noticed at all and she proposes to Captain Burke to use it to get more information about OP 721 before the strike force attacks.
Two hours before departure, Epona tells the Captain that during her time aboard she took matters in her own hands and started training more pilots from the crew. Five of them just got their certificates, although they are not fully qualified pilots, yet. She intends to place them as co-pilots, navigators and gunners aboard shuttlecrafts and runabouts. The Captain is sceptic at first, as three of the new pilots are NCOs, one of them a Waste Management worker, but won`t disagree with the test results.
The Federation strike force leaves Starbase OMEGA right on time.

In the BEMAX's captain's quarters, the Away Team plays the last log entry.
The CO of the BEMAX is seen pouring a small amount of the green powder from
the broken arifact into his hand. The powder swirls into a small vortes of
green light, strong with quantum energy. The Bolian captain theorizes that
the civilization that created the artifact were able to control this vortex
with spionic abilities. His log is interupted by the arrival of the Bolian
who had originally found the artifact. They struggle for possession. The
artifact is broken and the green powder is scattered free, swirling into a
big vortex. There is a final pulse of green light from the vortex, the
Bolians disappear and the powder settles to the deck. At that exact moment
the Bolian ship dropped out of warp and a concentration of the green powder
is pulled into the warp core.
The Away Team believes that it was at that instant that the Bolian ship and
crew were caught within different space/time dimensions. Theoretically all
they had to do to correct the situation was to bring the split dimensions
together. Brooks and T'al try to get power restored to the warp core and
succeed in removing all the tetryon particles from the reaction chamber.
Burton goes to collect all the green powder from the BEMAX's Bridge.
The CURIE manages to establish a communication link with the Away Team and
Cpt Alyza is brought up-to-date. Burton puts the collected green powder
back into the artifact. Apparently that one act is helping to bring the
trans-dimensional rift back together. Or, at least almost back together.
It takes a boost of techyon particles from the BEMAX's engines to put the
finishing touches on the repair. The Bolian ship, now back in its correct
time-line, continues its journey unaware of what happened. The Away Team
finds themselves floating in space, but are soon taken aboard the CURIE.
