LtCmdr Kallesin n'Galeda finds an Andorian engineer among the guests and
wants to talk technology with the man. He is surprised to find in Akeen
Ghorev one of Vymora's husbands. Akeen reacts hostile to Kallesin, but
Kallesin is not affected by the insults leveled against him. Akeen tells him
that he insists on keeping Vymora as his wife and will not tolerate an
artificial person next to him.
LtCmdr Vymora Einicrox studies the scans of the weapons concealed upon the
Deserte bodyguards, and is impressed. This represents a welcome martial
challenge for her as Andorian warrior and as Chief of Security. Kallesin
approaches her to discuss the divorces Vymora plans and his chance meeting
with Akeen. Vymora is upset about Akeen's behavior but explains her
reasoning to Kallesin: she wants to state clearly with the divorces that
Kallesin will be enough for her for the rest of her life. Kallesin is very
happy with that reply and even accepts the fact that Akeen demands equal
time with Vymora as a chance to win her back. He inquires about her parents'
opinion. In the end Vymora and Kallesin agree that nothing and no one will
be able to prevent their marriage.
Lt Epona O'Leary takes over the helm to pilot the HORIZON out of the
docking bay. Cpt Burke and especially Vymora Einicrox have faith in her
abilities. Soon the ship is safely on its way to Deserte, and Cpt Burke is
relieved that Epona is still in possession of her piloting skills.
Kallesin is on the bridge during the departure from SB OMEGA and monitors
Epona closely. He is satisfied that everything is alright. At ETA six hours
a signal is picked up and Kallesin detects two warships barely within sensor
range. The ships have Telmarc features and are heavily armed. His report of
rumors of new Telmarc plutonium rockets worries Burke and Vymora
considerably.
Epona uses her break to do research on the holodeck on how to counter such
new rockets. She experiments with course and speed variations until she is
satisfied that she will be able to evade the rockets if fired against the
HORIZON. But she asks the bridge whether the weapons would be able to attach
themselves to a ship's hull.
Vymora studies the ships' movements and tries to reason out their
intentions. She assumes that the ships are proof that the Crown Prince's
ascension to the throne is not uncontested. She decides to talk to Prince
Tamal and others about Deserte and the events leading to the current
situation.
When Vymora sees Crown Prince Tamal Jehune he is very polite. He is aware of
the two mysterious ships but claims to be unable to give Vymora more
information about them. Vymora assures him that she will keep every bit of
information that will help protect him confidential. Prince Tamal admits
that one of his brothers is a serious contender for the throne. Vymora warns
him that he cannot trust any of his relatives. Tamal is impressed with the
candidness and insight of the Chief of Security. Vymora asks him to consider
using a broadband antidote and a subdermal transponder. She also asks to be
informed by one of his bodyguards about Deserte military tactics. Tamal
agrees to the latter. Lastly she tells him in short about the Akeen
situation, knowing that her actions might not conform to Deserte custom, but
the success of the mission is more important to her than what the Crown
Prince might think of her personally.
