USS HORIZON
CO: Captain James Burke
GM: Nina
******************
Lt Epona O'Leary and Lt William Greyhawk are diminishing the number
of enemy vessels. They manage to frighten the Deserte opponents into
retreating. Epona notices that someone has jammed communication frequencies.
Greyhawk realizes that someone must have used a commbadge to jam
communications with D-levels.

Prior to the attacks. Ambassador Pendar is bored by the lack of action
onboard the HORIZON. He even finds himself thinking positively of human
conversation partners.

Will Greyhawk at his OPS station on the bridge is enjoying his job even if
it keeps him very busy.

Cmdr Nova'Song is on the bridge with Cpt Burke coordinating the efforts of
their senior officers during the attack. She and Burke have agreed to have
the ship appear more damaged than it really is. When comm signals into
Telmarc space are detected it seems their ruse pays off.

Epona feels the strain of being on duty for several hours without break. But
she is determined to stay at the helm no matter what. Suddenly she notices
that the Luchrupán has left its position at the Telmarc CFL. She and
Kallesin debate whether the mysterious little vessel is their enemy or their
ally. Ally or not, its disappearance leaves the HORIZON open to attacks from
the two other warships.

LtCmdr Vymora Einicrox is on her way down to D-levels when several of her
staff report in with problems. It appears, the intruders or assassins have
done a thorough job. Life support on D-levels is still down, the Crown
Prince's quarters have been blown open to space, and while her security
personnel are good they can't solve all the problems while the ship is being
attacked. While Vymora climbs into an EVA suit she orders drones sent into
D-levels to help look for the source of jamming. She discovers that her
ALPHA team has been killed and she vows revenge for the killings.

Lt Epona O'Leary wants to try and find the Crown Prince mentally. She
and Nova'Song use the captain's ready room for some privacy. With much
effort Epona uses her new-found talent and finally manages to connect to the
Crown Prince, though she cannot locate him. Back on the bridge she is
exhausted from the effort but can tell the captain that Prince Tamal is
alive.

In the ambassadorial quarters Charlie squad of the Marines is hit by the
explosions. On their way to a safer position they pick up Counselor
Lockhart. They also notice that Amabassador Pendar is missing when Lt
Peterson finally arrives.

On the bridge Nova'Song has Ens Goose give the exhausted Epona a once-over.
Tension on the bridge is high when finally three Telmarc war frigates are
detected crossing the border. Burke orders Porter to have energy for the IKE
cannon and for warp ready and to do it undetectably. The captain plans to
fire at the lead Telmarc ship and then race towards Deserte.

Despite Ens Goose's advice Epona insists on returning to her post. The
captain agrees and Epona lays in a high-warp course for Deserte.

Her people tell her that Vymora only has less than eighty seconds to find
the source of the jamming. Her tactical training tells her to go look for it
in the least accessible place and she races towards the Prince's quarters.
Time runs out and Vymora is ready to admit defeat when her specialists
inform her that they have managed to rematerialize most of the guests and
the rest is safely kept in the transporter buffer. Vymora heads to the brig
to talk to the prince and then plans to hunt the assassin down.

On the bridge Cpt James Burke is ready. While playing sitting duck he waits
for the arrival of the Telmarc ships. The Telmarc captain hails the HORIZON
claiming to have an arrest warrant for Burke and clearly states that he
doesn't care whether he captures Burke and his crew alive or dead. Burke
decides to fire the IKE cannon at the Telmarc ships. Then the HORIZON speeds
towards Deserte. In the brig, a confused Crown Prince Tamal materializes in
a holding cell and manages to inform the brig staff that he has been
poisined before collapsing.

On the holodeck. Vymora is furious about the successfull attacks of the
assassin. Out of frustration she kills holograms while her thoughts are
racing. Tyla Ordell has had it with her and has made an appointment with the
counselors for Vymora. In the end Vymora realizes that Tyra is right and
heads towards the counselling department. Meanwhile, a cargo hold has been
turned into a makeshift morgue. A superstitious ensign from SEC department
is on duty to guard the corpse. Despite his fears he enters the cold room
and checks on the bodies, just to discover that the body of the dead Deserte
soldier is missing.

Kathy Burke and incident investigation teams from Engineering and Security
department are having a look around the devastated quarters of Prince Tamal.
Kathy coordinates the repair work while making sure that any evidence is
presevered for later investigation.

Tyla Ordell and Roman Davidovitch from Security Department decide to run a
thorough investigation for the disappeared corpse before calling their
superior Einicrox and maybe interrupting her much-needed counseling session,
even though they know it will be trouble squared for them. In the freezing
cargo hold they find evidence that the Deserte corpse used the cargo
transporter to beam himself out.

On the bridge, Epona has some free time on her hands and she uses it to look
into the disappearance of the Luchrupán. As she analyzes the scans of the
Luchrupán's flight path she finds residue of organic material. She and
Nova'Song conclude that someone has to have been out there. This fact is
surprising to Epona, Nova'Song and Burke, and they discuss whether a Telmarc
or Deserte ship equipped with cloaking technology could have been near the
HORIZON to pick someone up. But they dismiss that thought for the moment to
see if anyone from the HORIZON is missing.

The captain has LtCmdr Kallesin n'Galeda check interior sensors and sensor
logs. When Kallesin detects an unauthorized transport Nova'Song decides to
contact Vymora, not knowing that the 2O is in a counselling session and
unaware of the missing body. Scanning the area ahead, the bridge officers
find a Deserte fleet blocking the planet. Burke and Nova'Song quickly
discuss the best way to get the Crown Prince to the surface.

Vymora contacts her staff about the missing corpse. She is very upset and
Ordell and Davidovitch know they will face hell when she orders them to
report to her office. At least they have ordered more security personnel to
guard Prince Tamal.

Ambassador Pendar, prior to the attacks, is musing about his future as
retired and sick officer and doesn't like it. He still thinks of himself as
a warrior. When on his way back to his quarters there is an attack he slips
into action. The activation of his personal cloaking device is ignored by
the HORIZON crew. His own quarters are wrecked by the explosion and his
assistants are killed. Still cloaked he watches Vy Einicrox's frantic search
through the remains of the prince's cabin and her following conversation
with her staff. Pendar understands that an assassin is responsible for the
death of his own staff and he vows to take revenge.

Before her SEC staff discover that a body is missing, Vymora is having her
counseling session with Lt Jack McMurphy. Interestingly enough his words
don't make her angry, instead Vymora is actually soothed. They have a verbal
boxing match, but McMurphy seems to know a lot about what is going on inside
her. When she leaves him, her determination to find the assassin is the same
but she feels less guilty for the events so far.

After the counseling session Vymora has a talk with her two subordinates and
plans to give them hell. She accuses them of betrayal but in the end she
realizes that just the opposite happened. Like herself, the two love this
ship and the crew, and were just protecting one of the people they love the
most.

DNA scan reveals that it was someone from Crown Prince Jehune's own family
who placed the bomb in his quarters. When the prince awakes in sickbay after
recovering from the poisoning he remembers clearly the face of the person
who attacked him but he tells no one.

LtCmdr Vymora Einicrox and her team have discovered the jamming device. When
she hears that the prince is alive and well Vymora's lust for revenge
resurfaces. She then heads for the bridge to prepare for their arrival at
Deserte and for the blockade they're facing there. A direct approach with
blazing weapons is out of the question, Vymora knows, and starts searching
for a way to get the prince safely onto the planet. Her conclusion is that
as long as they don't know anything about the current situation on Deserte,
the prince can't go there.

Meanwhile, in the lounge Blirb the Ferengi is pondering his options. What
will be more profitable for him, aiding the two security goons and the
Andorian or informing Vymora about the nasty plans of the trio? The latter
at least should get him in good standing with the Chief of Security.

The Flying Dorias, a family of trapeze artists, are practicing in one of the
holodecks their program for the coronation. Meanwhile in the Burkes'
quarters, the Silent Magician is mesmerizing Cassandra with a future-telling
automaton. And in the lounge, a pair of jugglers have agreed to practice
their act in public. The patrons are cheering them on as the jugglers,
calling themselves 'The Sunshine Boys', have a very special act.

Meanwhile on the bridge, the senior officers, the XO and the captain are
discussing their options to get through the blockade. Prince Tamal joins
them. After the attack on his life he is a changed man. When the HORIZON
tries to communicate with the Deserte fleet and the planet they find the
frequencies jammed and the prince is not able to announce his arrival to his
people. So they discuss their options to get him to Deserte. Epona O'Leary
volunteers to pilot a decoy ship. Crown Prince Tamal Jehune agrees to share
all information about the Deserte fleet and tactics and strategies with the
HORIZON crew.

The plan is to let Epona pilot the captain's yacht as a decoy while the
prince is taken to the planet on another ship. Vymora is unhappy with that
as she considers him too important to be dropped planetside into an unknown
situation. She proposes that first Epona gathers information down on
Deserte. The prince insists on returning to his homeworld. The captain and
XO consider a Marine-supported drop or a transport by the fastest shuttle
aboard.

Epona then proposes that she takes the captain's shuttle the BLACK PEARL to
reach the planet and gather information. Vymora supports her proposal and
gets to work on creating confusion among the Deserte blockade ships. While
Epona, accompanied by two bodyguards from SEC department, gets herself and
the PEARL ready, Vymora prepares accustic and optic confusion for the
Desertian ships.

Epona and her two bodyguards are dressed as native Desertians. Before they
leave with the PEARL the captain tells her in detail about his wonderful
little vessel. Epona is excited about the speed and defensive capabilities
of the PEARL. Not much later, among drone decoys, fireworks and
communication jamming and other distractions curtesy of Vymora Epona leaves
the HORIZON and makes it - except for one little glitch - safely to Deserte.

USS NIGHTINGALE
CO: Captain Pol Canon

Captain Fisher, Hanson, Austin and Park are forced to participate in a
holodeck scenario going up against a Bird-of-Prey aboard Parks´ Firemoth.

Mao'Syllis notices a strange Azure color that she identifies as a second
intruder. On the holodeck Lo'sh'vo'ra' ri'to'pa' ta re-powers the already
beaten Bird-of-Prey for the challenge to continue. Only when the
NIGHTINGALE crew nearly destroys the Bird do they get a chance to leave
the holodeck again. In the meantime Syllis finds David Karides and also
finds that the man is not as much in control of the situation as everyone
believed so far.

The respire on the holodeck is only brief however, after a moment Fisher
and Comp find themselves back in the engine room of the Firemoth as
Romulan shock troops are beamed in. During a short fire fight Fischer
notices a strange colored fog that begins to spread in the engine room.
Austin reads electrical activity, reading similar to humanoid brain wave
patterns in the fog. After a few minutes the fog finally dissipates and
the NIGHTINGALE crew is able to leave the holodeck.

Mao'Syllis in the meantime manages to speak to Karides. Apparently he
found an alien intelligence adrift in space and intelligence that evolved
and that now controls both him and the strange events aboard the
NIGHTINGALE. Still Karies has enough free will left to help Syllis in a
plot to drive the alien entity off.

They manage to drive the being Syllis calls "the Azure" off the ship but
David Karides dies a painful death, trying to correct his earlier
mistakes.

The cleanup aboard the NIGHTINGALE begins.

Suddenly an unknown ship shows up, claiming the intruder was one of their
probes. They request and are granted permission to board the GALE to
remove the program that is still hiding in the ships replicators.

Afterwards Captain Fisher comments his old / new crew in his log entry as
various crew members go about their normal lives again and prepare for a
meeting.
