Summary- Two young people meet in England at a park. Little do they
know what the future will bring!

Confused, the young man leaned against the tree in the park. It was a
clear, sunny day, but he hadn't actually noticed. He missed his sister.
And his home. The home that had been shattered ten years before.
He stood straight and continued down the path. He was in England,
attending school at Oxford. Rarely did he speak to his parents; now
that they had divorced. Everything had fallen apart that night ten
years ago, when his sister had disappeared.
Suddenly, his shoulders got heavy and his chest began to ache. He
spotted a bench not far away and made his way toward it. Not many
people were around, which suited him just fine. He wasn't the type of
man who enjoyed exposing his emotions.
Sitting down, he leaned forward and buried his face in his hands.
Tears were in his eyes, but he was thankful that they didn't fall.

A young red-headed woman walked down the path, thinking of her
accomplishments. She was on vacation, glad to get away from college in
the US. Recently, she had found out that she had been accepted at the
medical school of her choice. Her parents were proud.
She smiled when she thought of her brother, who had told her that a
medical profession wouldn't be thrilling enough for her. She wondered
what he thought would be fulfilling to her in his standards.
As she continued down the path, she saw a young brown-haired man
sitting on a park bench. He was holding his head with his hands and his
shoulders were shaking. Her first instinct was that the man was ill and
may need her help. She rushed forward to help him, only realizing that
he was crying when he had already noticed her.
He looked up, a few tears on his cheeks. The woman who gazed back at
him was beautiful. Her cheeks were flushed the color of her hair when
she realized that she had interrupted his thoughts.
"I'm sorry," she began quietly. "But. . . Are you okay?" He smiled
when he heard her American accent. He was so homesick that it was
comforting to hear the strangers voice.
Wiping at his eyes, he shook his head. "Yes. . . I'm fine." He
smiled again when he saw her raise her eyebrows. She quickly decided to
sit next to him on the bench, risking upsetting him.
	"You're American," she said.
"Yes, I am. You too, I noticed. Are you in school here?" he
questioned.
"No, I'm just on vacation. I go to Berkeley, back home. Soon to be
going to medical school," she told him.
"Congratulations," he gave her yet another smile. His tears were gone,
but she could still see the pain in his eyes. "I'm studying psychology
here."	She nodded, acknowledging what he had said without words. He turned
his head to look over at her. "When do you go back?"
"Tomorrow. I'm here alone. My parents paid for everything; they said
that I needed some time away from everything. They were right," she
told him.
"I'm going home at the end of the school year, after graduation," he
said to her.
"Oh. . . You're graduating this year?" she asked. He nodded and she
continued, "Will your family be coming?" She saw his head drop and
suddenly realized she should have left that out.
"No. . . No they won't," he whispered. The woman opened her mouth,
but nothing came out. Finally, she thought of something to say. "I'm
sorry."
He didn't know what she was apologizing for. She hadn't done anything
wrong; there was no way for her to know about his pain.
Lifting his head, he held her gaze for a moment, studying her beautiful
eyes. He wondered if he should open up to her; tell her his deep
secrets. Shaking his head slightly, he spoke, "Well, I had better get
going. I've got a class soon."
"It was nice talking to you," she said with a kind smile, extending her
hand. He accepted it and gave her a friendly shake. "Likewise. It was
nice to hear an American voice." She laughed at his joke as he walked
away.
He walked down the path, no longer thinking of his family, but of the
beautiful woman he had just met. He hadn't even learned her name.
