In the AOA world, Holocaust is One of the Four Horsemen. He was also a favored of Apocalypse. With Apocalypse's Infinite army under his command and his massive 'cullings' -- rather like a concentration camp for humans as well as mutants -- he was viewed as the deadliest.

The Acolytes found him floating in space inside a solid block of ice, leading you to think if Iceman had a hand in it. He had been stuck there for 20 years. He was grateful to them until he discovered that his rescuers were under the direction of Magneto, his arch enemy. He then proceeded to destroy every Acolyte he could find, as well as Avalon.
