Karma is a mutant, born with the power of possessing any living being's body and controlling it. She controls her powers quite well, but if the body under her control gets damaged, she feels the pain, suffering a big mental stress.

Xi'an joined the New Mutants after a traumatic experience, when while escaping from her homeland, her family was captured by pirates, being her parents murdered. Xi'An was also the elder of the group, sharing different interests and a bitter point of view, due to her lost innocence.

In fact, she was the first one of the new mutants recruited by Xavier under conseil of Mr Fantastic, but she left the group with the excuse of looking for her lost brother and sister. In fact, she was possesed by the Shadow King, who deformed her body to a fat mass of grass, like he did once with Amahl- el-Farouk. Under his control, she became head of a criminal empire, but got discovered by her friends, who rescued her.

She was quite depresses for what she had done and her ruined body, but during the Asgardian wars, she landed in a desert, and was found by a djinn in a little girl shape, who helped her recovering her figure. Anyway, she left the group immediately, for she really had to look for the twins.

Because her uncle was one of the criminal lords of Madripoor, he promised his niece help to find the kids if she offered her abilities in his business. Karma, dispaired, agreed, but she always makes her best to keep on the good side.

She has theUN ability to take over the minds of humans, mutants, and animals. She must be in the same area as her target when she attempts to take control. The target gets a Psyche FEAT against the power's intensity to avoid failing victim to Karma's power. A similar FEAT is allowed every half hour to shake off the effects of a successful possession.

Xi'an has survival abilities (RM), business administration experience, and can speak English, French, and Vietnamese.
