We want this not to be an opinion column, but a forum for fact and fiction. The topic can be of anything you wish, from which spoon to use when stirring a Master's blackwine, to.. do we have a recipe for Gorean Chocolate Chip Cookies? All questions will be answered within the rule limitation. (yup rules!)

kyna{GDT}: wow,wow,wow has kyna heard this question a lot! in fact, kyna had a heated debate about this recently. kyna was told in no uncertain terms that a slave never so much as kisses the rim of the goblet, much less drinks from the same vessel as her Master. granted it is a widely used custom here on irc Gor, but after some extensive research, kyna found references in the books to this custom. first, let us dispel the myth that a slave girl never drinks from the vessel of her Master.
kyna{GDT}: in the above reference, note that the Master had permitted the slave to drink from the cup after His lips had graced it, yet there is another reference in which the girl has been trained to never touch the vessel of a Master after He has touched it with His lips. He extended his goblet to me.
kyna{GDT}: then there are the references to the actual kissing of the rim while serving. This is to be contrasted with the common wine service in which the girl kneels, knees wide, before the man, kisses the cup, if permitted, and then, head down, humbly, arms extended, submissively, proffers it to him. pg 299 Kajira of Gor kyna{GDT}: in this reference note the words "if allowed", meaning that the choice (as always) is the Master's. The next reference is clear that the girl was allowed.
kyna{GDT}: so kyna says, yes! there are references to it in the books. so far, these are the only references a girl has found, if you find more, feel free to email kyna and meara. we will happily post the page and book numbers for all to see :)
kyna{GDT}: well now, this is a tough one. "yearning furs", is this a place where a girl kneels when her need is upon her? because if it is, kyna imagines it often gets so crowded that one cannot breathe with all the squirming slave flesh about you! kyna would be there all the time, if such a place existed! kyna has read of girls kneeling on mats, furs, rugs, the earthen ground, tiles even tharlarion blood, but she has yet to read of 'yearning furs', it must be an irc'ism', but kyna is just a slave and is therefore often mistaken! :) if anyone has quotes from the books that describe what 'yearning furs' are, please, please, please send them! for irc definition, after asking around, kyna learned that 'yearning furs' seem to be another description for the 'serving furs', or the furs upon which slaves kneel to wait for services needed.
kyna{GDT}: this is a commonly asked question. if we follow the definitions of a 'white silk' in the books, we find a few definitions; (1) they are virginal, lady's maids, wearing long white slave gowns. it would be a rare occurrence indeed, to find such a slave in a paga tavern, in fact, it would be unheard of. these were women's slaves, kept in the quarters of a Free Woman. an example of this is shown when Lady Sabina finds a white silk slave of hers in the arms of a soldier. she is outraged.
kyna{GDT}: and oddly enough, it is not a place most slaves wish to be slave. to be a slave of a Free Woman means that the slave must ignore her true desire, to be the slut of a Man. this is also shown when the slaves of the Lady Sabina are taken by Master Clitus' Men. the slaves are happy :)
(2) They are being kept 'white silk' or virginal until sold, for the pleasure of the Man that buys her, that it may be He who opens her to Men and makes her helpless in her slavery. that it may be He who fully conquers her. elinor in "Captive" was kept a white silk until Master Rask of Treve conquered her.
kyna{GDT}: these girls are allowed to be in the presence of Men, and are often trained as pleasure slaves, yet denied the fulfillment of their heat until such time as they are sold. it is said to make a girl hungry, and more easily molded to the desires of the Master whom buys her, unwittingly to the girl of course.
kyna{GDT}: white silks such as these never, ever are used by Men, for they to are virginal. they are often the source of some ridicule.
kyna{GDT}: and such girls are not the 'pleasure slaves' or 'preferred slaves' of a Master. they are not used for pleasure at all, hence the white silk status. it is how elinor gets caught in her lies to Master Rask, when she claims such.
(3) the third reason a girl is a 'white silk' is perhaps because they are just so ugly that Men have let them be virgins forever, because of their lack of desirability. woe to that poor girl, doomed forever to serve as a pot girl or a field slave. kyna{GDT}: no where in kyna's research did she find the term 'white silk' used to describe a girl who was for her Master's use only. there are 'preferred slaves'. alyena was the preferred slave of Haroun, high Pasha of the Kavars in Tribesmen of Gor, but yet, she was still given to the use of His Men when He felt the inclination.
kyna{GDT}: then there is this quote about the same slave and Master, proving that the 'preferred slave' will be given for the pleasures of another Man, should her Master desire, for she is, after all, still a slave.
kyna{GDT}: so we must come to the conclusion that the 'white silk' as it is used on irc, is not something that is found in the books. the use of kyna by other Men is at the discretion of her Master, she is His preferred slave, but she is not a virgin, nor is she a white silk girl:) there are those Men whom kyna's Master calls "Friend or Brother" that are permitted the use of kyna. perhaps a better way of describing what is commonly described here as 'white silk' is to say that a slave is the 'preferred slave' of that Master, and hence, her use by other Men is something that is left up to Him. :)
