Gorean
Philosophy
Question:: Where
do You feel the Gorean Philosophy is most
misunderstood?
JaKil:: Those
who think that the books are simply words written
for the amusement of people looking for good
reading. They fail to see the words written
between the lines. The deeper meaning of the
ideas contained in the 25 books is felt by those
that seek a deeper understanding of themselves
and their place in nature. Many people have have
read the books. There are however a select few
who have found the truth within those pages. So
with this said, most consider the Philosophy mear
fiction. Never seeing the deeper meaning, the
ideas contained within them. The possibilities,
the joy of life. Few even take the time to
question within themselves the Philosophy, which
the books are based upon.
Question::
With regards to "Honor, Integrity, and
Brotherhood" which to You, holds the most
regard? Why?
JaKil::
My Honor, for it cannot be bought. It
cannot be seen, or it's weight determined. If a
man lacks Honor, what is he? Brotherhood is never
available for those without Honor. What man would
associate with a man lacking it? I have long
sought men of Honor and Courage, and the ability
to be true to themselves. Of all that life holds
dear and precious to me, my Honor I value most. I
surround myself while on IRC with those who have
this trait. This ability to have
"Honor". For as I have said, it is the
most wonders of posessions a man may have.
Question::
Do you think a Gorean can perform an unforgivable
action or crime on IRC? If so, what would that
be?
JaKil::
Yes, it is possible. If one were to be
found to be a liar and a thief. A person with no
sense of the meaning of truth and the ability to
accept responsibility for their own actions. If
one is true to the meaning of the books and their
ideas, Crimes are punishable by death. Can we
kill anyone on IRC? No. But there always is the
ignore option.
Question::
For many, to bring the Gorean Philosophy
into their Earthly lives: the cost and sacrifices
are great: What has been Your greatest sacrifice
to date?
JaKil::
I would say the loss of potential
Friendships. I don't suffer people that ridicule
my notion of what life is all about. I say what I
feel and live life on my own terms. Many cannot
accept this. Most simply won't understand the
view I have of men and their place in the world,
be it here in my daily life or while I am on IRC.
Each of us who makes the tough decision to live
life by a set of standards and rules, I call them
codes, pays a certain price in there lives.
Question::
What was the hardest thing to overcome when
You took Your beliefs into Real Life?
JaKil::
I am fortunate, I have a profession where
the views found within the books and such are
compatable in a lot of ways. I live by a set of
Codes both on my job and in the world of IRC,
both are very close to the same. The hardest to
overcome was perhaps the fact that I could not
walk away for my duty when I had to serve under
an Officer that couldn't lead a goat around the
block. The question asks , "Beliefs into
Real Life". I know I carry my beliefs from
the real world into IRC.
Question::
Under what conditions would a Gorean Male
move from His home stone?
JaKil::
When he was honor bound to do so. When he
could no longer support the idea and reason for
the Home Stone to exist. Each person has to weigh
that decision based on their understanding of
what is the meaning of their Home Stone and it's
place on IRC Gor.
Question::
Up till what time should a Gorean Male
stand by His Brothers?
JaKil::
Till he breaths his last breath. I have a
bond with the men of my Home Stone that is broken
only by death. I have brothers here on Irc that
are no less a brother than the son of my father.
Mastery
Question:: "XXX-jira::
got something for ya, for all that glorious crap
you stirred and then kicked me over. * XXX-jira
raises her little slavey fist...upraising the
middle slender digit.....flipping the 'tarn' at
XXXXXXX*" What is Your
opinion of a slave who speaks and acts as such to
a FreeMan?
JaKil:: First
I laugh. Then as this is not Gor and she is not
feed to sleen or thrown to tarns, I forget her.
She is a woman of Urth. She wants to be a kajira,
but lacks the ability to be total in the
commitment it would take. I feel more pity than
anger. For she may never know the part of her
that could be if she would only see the truth.
"More
than one Master, I suspect, has been enslaved by
the beauty who kneels before Him. It is one of
the excruciating delights of the Mastery to
expose oneself fully to, yet skirt, the dangers
of the girls beauty, to keep oneself strong, to
draw the absolute fullness of pleasure from her,
and to resist her wiles, to get everything from
her, and yet keep her on her knee's
completely." - SlaveGirl of Gor ..pg 36
Question::
Your opinion of the meaning of the passage?
JaKil::
A man see's a woman of beauty he has never
before thought possible to exist. He becomes raw
with emotion. His nature takes hold. If Gorean,
he knows to get all the woman has to give, he
must keep her at his feet. To know that if she is
to be totally female, it is at his feet that he
will find her there. Let her flower in her
submission, let her know the joy of that total
love. Men who have not forgotten that which lies
within them, understand.
Question::
As a Master, what do You feel is Your worst
attribute?
JaKil::
My ability to control my emotions. I have
always been quick to anger. Quick to judge. I
work on this a lot, to improve myself. I have
been quick with a word, when upon reflection, I
would have been better served to have thought the
matter through.
Question::
In Your opinion, what is the proper way to
fondle a slave?
JaKil::
With both hands
Question::
How many slaves do You Own ?
JaKil::
I own none. I am a man that is totally
commited to his Free Companion. She is to me all
that I need in life. I once had a slave, I choose
to set her loose from my collar, for I could not
be to her that which she needs. I am most content
with my Free Companion. Ask anyone who knows me,
I am on-line that which I am in real life. The
taking of a slave is no simple matter. So few
understand the commitment that comes with
ownership. Only a fool puts a girl in a collar,
even on IRC, and does not accept the
responsibility of that commitment.
Question::
We are then to understand, Your Free
Companion is that of RL and not of IRC Gor?
JaKil::
Correct
Question::
What is Your opinion of
"Training" and/or
"Protection" collars?
JaKil::
They have no meaning. Protection from what?
If training is necessary, let the man that she is
owned by train her. I find them rather funny and
a bit meaningless. We do not allow such nonsense
in the Silk and Steel.
Question::
Do you feel popups should be allowed for
serving? For dancing? For channel ban/kicks?
JaKil::
Serving, no, let her serve from the heart
and for the moment. Each man is different and
thus deserves her personal attention. As to the
dance, dancers need to train and practice, I see
nothing wrong with that. I personally prefer her
to dance without the use of it but I allow it. In
regards to the use of kick/ban popups, the places
I frequent, only men are Ops, and they may do as
they please. Are they not Men?
Miscellaneous
Question::
According to the source books, Gorean
FreeWomen are utilized to bear Free children,
manage the books, etc. In Your opinion, what
purpose do Free Women serve on IRC Gor?
JaKil::
Free Woman serve ther place on Gor in a few
ways. First they serve to show the differences
between a woman that has chosen to be free. One
that does not want the collar. (damn good
question) The differences being men are by their
nature takers, and the female is the giver. The
freewoman is treasured in her position. But, the
slave is sought for ability to give. The
Freewoman can serve as an example of many things.
I, for one, have no problem with there being
Freewoman on IRC Gor. For as the books say,
"Behind the viels of the freewoman, lies a
collar"..
Question::
Do you feel the qualifications for choosing
an online caste such as "Warrior"
should be more strict?
JaKil::
ahhh, a very good question... One I am much
more able to answer. Do I wish that there
was a way to insure that those of a Caste were
worthy of the Caste chosen? Of course. But how
can this be done? I have no answer for that. But
let me quote something I have written before;
"I do not role play being a warrior. Those
that I call Warrior and friend do not also."
The selection process for my calling another
Caste Brother is my own. But as a close friend
once said of me, We are brothers, and I
would be foolish to deny such a priceless bond. I
am of the Warriors, and I accept you as my
brother because, quite simply, knowing you as I
do, if I did not accept you so, then I would not
be of the Warriors." How can we find if one
is of the Scarlet Caste or not? I shall attempt
to answer from the point of view of one that has
seen the selection done in the Place of my Home
Stone. It is our way, perhaps not the only way,
but our way. A man comes to the Silk and Steel.
He becomes a regular there. He then during the
course of time and interaction, over the course
of many months, shows the man he is. His word is
displayed as being truthful or not. We then
accept him as a Caste Brother or not. The man by
his knowledge and ability to communicate things
only a Warrior would know is shown. Truth is felt
more then seen. We are not fooled often.
Question::
Do you think a standardized system of
virtual monetary exchange would be a good idea,
or a bad one?
JaKil::
A meaningless idea. For what would you
purchase? Can you buy honor, truth, and
understanding?
lassy
whispers::
Master, a girl was more thinking about
paga, slaves, merchandise, etc. not those of
which should come naturally and normally.
JaKil::
As in the books, each City/State determines
it's own minting of coins. If one of Port Kar
says that it's gold coins are worth more than
Ar's, who am I to question them? I will of course
disagree, but, that is my opinion. I would say
that a girl is worth only 5 copper tarn disk. A
man of another city may claim she is worth one
hundred Gold tarn disk's. Who is correct? Why me
of course. To answer the question in one word,
bad idea..oops thats two..
Question::
How many copper tarsks does it take to
equal a silver tarsk?
JaKil::
Is a poor Warrior, he has never held more
than copper in his hands. I will have to make a
note of this and ask Zeb and Bear for a raise.
Question::
To date, who/what has been the greatest
influence on Your journey?
JaKil::
In my search for truth and a deeper
understanding of what I find to be the way of
things, I have met many men. I have met men that
are Men who love, find friendship, and comrades
and Honor my Codes. The one I owe most is not a
single person, but an idea, a place. Within the
walls of the Tavern of the Silk and Steel, I have
found men that I thought never to exist. After 19
years as a Warrior, a Paratrooper, serving all
over the world, I have found a place where men
think, act, and say what I have felt within
myself for so long. Marcus, Zeb, Bear, Naysayer,
Kogg, all the men of the tavern whom I call
Brother and friend assist me at times, after all,
they are men of my Home Stone, that should say it
all. Some may think that the rock is only a rock,
but we know differently. I owe much to these men,
the ledger will always tilt in there favor.
Question::
What is your opinion regarding slaves being
on more than one net (DALnet, AUSTnet, etc.) even
if they are only technically in one channel at
one time?
JaKil::
ahhh here let me quote my popup..:) "*
JaKil reminds the slaves that they are not
permitted to be on other channels when in this
tavern. If you can't devote your full attention
to the men here, come back when you can.*" If you can't devote your
full attention to a man, then go somewhere else.
Full attention is due the man that a slave
serves. Slaves cannot serve two masters. I say
serve one at a time or serve none at all.
Question::
Do you think cyber-killing and
assassination should be standardized and
accepted?
JaKil::
* JaKil laughs very loudly..* I always do at
this, cyber-killing and assassination are
pointless and mean nothing. If a man has a beef
with another, set a time and place, go there and
settle the matter with whatever weapons are
chosen. Let the fist, the knife or the staff
settle the matter. Cyber-killing and
assassination are funny, we used to kill all
HNG's via the cyber kill, but after months they
lose their meaning, better to have the person
limp out after a beating of their views and their
shallow ideas.
Question::
What in your opinion is the difference
between a serious Gorean channel and a
"Disney-Gor" channel?
JaKil::
Good question, one I have thought long on.
I spent a long time writing Marcus a letter on
the matter, it is very long, so let me rephrase
it here for the intereview:
"I
sat here staring at the screen waiting for the
words to pour out like a fine wine, for I have
strong feelings about this subject and thought
they would come easily. I find myself, however,
with no ready answers, and could call forth no
witty words to shed light on the question brought
forth in your challenge. (See the Third
Knowledge) I walked away from the keyboard more
than a few times, but was drawn back, wanting to
answer the hard question that has been posed many
times in various ways; wanted to put my feelings
and ideas into words, to share them with others.
Simply, the words difficult and impossible came
to my mind repeatedly for each of us define Gor
in our own terms and who is to say what is
right? To much play and overt
role-playing? So, to answer the question as to a
how much play is too much, heres my answer.
I drink more paga in the tavern than most. I look
at my fellow Caste Brothers, those of the Scarlet
Caste, and say Tal. I pound on my shield with my
spear when I am pleased. I am content to
associate with men that are by their nature,
strong, hard-headed, and uncompromising in their
principles and views of life. I have come to the
conclusion that I cannot say what is to much or
what is enough. I only know some things can be
explained and others cannot. Can I have you
explain to me in writing what beauty is? At times
words are simply not enough to express what is
felt. To me this is such a time."
Those who know
what a Play channel is, know, those that do not
will never know.
