Bishop is from an alternate future, and travelled back in time to recapture criminalsthat had escaped into the past. Encountering the X-Men, Bishop was wounded and his companions (Randall and Malcolm) were killed. After recovering, Professor X announcedthat Bishop was the newest member of the team. Bishop was instrumental in returning the timeline to normal after the Age of Apocalypse. Bishop had discovered that there was a traitor in the ranks of the X-Men before his travel to the present, and for a while he believed it to be Gambit, but recently it was revealed that the traitor wasnone other than Professor X himself, albeit as Onslaught. After the X-Men were separated whilst returning to Earth after the Phalanx assault on the Shi'ar, Bishop was somehow severely injured. He is currently in the care of Deathbird, who wishes to use Bishop in an attempt to claim the throne of the Shi'ar Empire from her sister, Lilandra.
