Cable is the son of Cyclops and his first wife Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey. When he was a baby, Nathan was infected with a deadly techno-virus by Apocalypse. His only hope of survival was to be sent 2000 years into the future, accompanied by a member of the Clan Askani. He was raised in the future by Cyclops and Jean Grey (who had been transported to the future by the Mother Askani). Many years passed before he returned to the current timeline, and he took up the position as leader/mentor of the New Mutants, who he moulded into X-Force. Cable has had an on/off romantic involvement with Domino over the years. Recently, Cable has left X-Force to continue his quest to stop Apocalypse.
