Unforgettable
Two cloaked ships are battling and voyager is between the two ships. The one ship
wins a but is badly damaged. There is a lady aboard and she asks for chakotay's help
by name. She is beamed over and she tells how she spent some time on voyager and
that she was a tracer. Someone that tracks down defectors/people wishing to leave
thier planet/space. She tells him how they fell in love and how that thier spiece's
make up is such that most people forget about them just a few hours after they leave.
It's something about how the phermones they emit work... So chakotay doesn't know
if to believe her or not. He listens to her story, about how they detected her and the
tracer on board the ship before. Mean while the crew is investagating her story.
The lady requested aslum/sanuary on voyager. She appears to be in love chakotay.
Chakotay, seems interested but not in love at first. But Seven of nine notices on
a few occasions when she is giving a report that when chakotay or the lady name
is said the other one's face becomes flushed. Seven comments about this to Kim
who tells her that it's normal. For humans in courtship retituals. Seven tells him that
she finds the whole courtship rititurals to be a waste of time. Kim says it's not, it
makes the two more confortable (for the coupling is understood). Seven says is the
results any diffrent? Kim says no. Seven says you see it's a waste of time.
Thier next report to chakotay, they tell him how for awhile according to the logs the
two ships was together. But Her logs could be fakes. It is decided to give her sancuary
on voyager. To find something for her to do. They first have her help with detection
of the ships that her speices uses. Also a way to shield against thier attacks. She does
begin to help in these areas. But a attack by the ladies people deposited a tracer.
The lady finnaly asks chakotay why do seem to want to hear all about them being love
aspect of her story? Chakotay tells her that he finds it hard to believe that he could
have no memory or knowledge of this, that thier would be some record in his logs
or somewhere. She tells him that your computer was infected with a virius that wipes
out all references to me and the events about the tracers etc... She then insists to tell
him about thier last night together. after he introduces her to ice cream, she loves the
stuff says she could eat this every day. Chakotay comments then you should have it.
She sits beside him, on his lap I think, embraces him.
Later she returns to quarters and sees a vase broken, takes it as a warning from a
tracers. That there is one aboard and after her. Chakotay tell her not to worry we
will do the same thing we did to capture the runaway/ and you visable. They do
the tracer appears and zaps the lady. Chakotay seeing him aims his phaser and tells
him put it down. The man tracer says I will, your too late she is already begining
to forget her time here. Chakotay puts this man in the brig and asks him if there is
any way to reverse the effects of that memory eraser of his/thiers. The man smugly
says no, why would we want to. She broken some of our most sacred laws.
Chakotay in sickbay promises the lady that he will tell her of thier love and things
when she forgets as she did for him. He does but for some reason the lady doesn't
recapture the love they shared (Or does, and plays that she doesn't so not to in
danger chakotay and the crew?, after all she did comment once that it would be
easier for all if she just went back). Chakotay returns her to her people and the
tracer. Later we see chakotay using paper and a hand held writing instrument.
Neelix sees this and comments uplate? Chakotay says yes. Neelix asks what are you
doing? Chakotay explains that he is writing all of it down cause he doesn't want
to forget. And this is the only way to keep a perment record since can't keep it
in the computer. Then as neelix is about to walk away. Chakotay asks, Neelix
tell me something. Why didn't it work a 3rd time? Why didn't we fall in love yet
another time? We are the same two people, why? Neelix says, I don't know what
makes love happen or not. It's hard to say all the things that can cause love to happen
or not to happen between two people. A miss placed word, and glance, a facal
expression. It wouldn't be as magical and special if we knew what causes love to
happen. If we knew there was a science to it...
