How much do I love this episode?! Much more than I can express! I saw this episode on the 'Redux' video that showed the whole trilogy, and although I was on the edge of my seat for the other two, this episode stood out as my favourite. There are far too many things to mention about this episode, but I'll try. I must say that the music was absolutely fabulous throughout this whole episode, but then I've always been a sucker for piano music *Sigh*.

Mulder coming back 'from the dead' when he hears of Scully's condition first told me this was to be a 'shipper episode to remember! His look of shock and fear spoke volumes, he even tried to attack Skinner as he was being pulled away. Finally Mulder and Scully are together, for the first time in what seems like a long time. I loved Mulder's grin of happiness as he looks at Scully through the glass window, and when he sat on her bed, held her hand and KISSED HER CHEEK, I was grinning like a madman too! This conversation was a real heartache to watch, Mulder trying to protect Scully and Scully trying to save Mulder:

Scully: Mulder if I can save you let me. Let me at least give some meaning to what's happened to me

Even at the brink of death she is still trying to save the man she loves!! However, Mulder won't have any of it. He touches Scully's hair, FOR NO REASON I might add, simply to touch her, and then he kisses her hand before he leaves.

Now at this point I suppose I should talk about Bill Scully Jr, but I won't, and for one reason only: I hate him.

So, on with the show! Scully and Mulder meet again when Mulder brings the 'cure' for her cancer. I love this scene because it shows Scully deciding to try Mulder's idea, even though her 'scientific mind' would normally dispute it. She is not being Mulder's 'defender' as Bill put it, she has simply seen that Mulder's heart 'is in the right place' and he would not suggest this as a cure if he didn't believe in it.

God! I really hate Bill Jr!

Anyway, another of my favourite lines in this episode comes when Mulder is talking to CSM:

Mulder: You murdered my father. You killed Scully's sister and if Scully dies I will kill you. I don't care whose father you are I will put you down

I liked the way Mulder went to Scully's room that night because he was 'lost', I also liked that he 'didn't have the heart to wake her'. I got even more excited when he lay his head next to hers, but then he proceeded to chew her arm off, and I got worried. However, before the scene faded it does look like he kisses her hand, which made up for his cannabalistic tendencies!

Finally we come to my favourite scene of all time. Mulder visits Scully for the final time to make sure he's doing the right thing. This was the scene where I knew without out a doubt that Dana Scully loved Fox Mulder, especially when she wouldn't release his hand as he turned to walk away. Again we have another kiss on the cheek and a humourous Mulder (Have the father say a few Hail Mulders for me okay?).

Although the next bit with the FBI panel and Mulder naming Blevins isn't 'shippy, it still had me on the edge of my seat and crying out in shock when Mulder names him, CSM gets shot and finally Blevins gets shot! I couldn't believe the fast paced action in this scene, and it had me wondering for ages where season five was going to take us philers. Especially with the return of Sammantha to the scene!

As a last note, I'd just like to say that I liked the way Mulder looked lost and undone throughout this episode until the very final scene where we hear Scully's cancer is in remission:

Skinner: What turned it around?

Mulder: *big grin* I don't know, I don't think we'll ever know

And at that moment in time, we know that Mulder doesn't want to know, he's just ecstatic Scully is back with him.
