Meet Thy Enemies
If you don't know who you're enemies are, this is the place to find the basics. If you want lot's of detail, got to the schematics in the Tech room on board the Independance, and you can find out there.
This is probably the least dangerous starfighter in the Imperial aresenal. It is slow, unmenuverable, and has no shields. It does, on the other hand, have pack an extremely high amount of missiles and torpedoes and are therefore a threat to our capital ships. The easiest (and sometimes best) way to take out one of these things is to take him out at long range (preferably before he launches torps.) with on of your torps or missiles depending on your fighter. Don't be fooled, these guys can be a major pain in the you-know-what if they come in sufficient numbers.
Alone, this fighter isn't a match even for our worst fighter the Y-wing. But the Empire never makes it easy on us, so they send alot more than that. This ship has dual lasers, no shields, but one hell of an engine. As I said they attack in numbers, so take them out with a sure hand, powerful lasers, and full shields.
The TIE Interceptor is better than the TIE Fighter. It has Quad Lasers, and takes more hits to destroy. It also is just as fast, if not faster than the fighter. These things are especially problems for B-wing and Y-wing pilots. They aren't a picnic for X and A-wing pilots either though. Watch out for these guys. They don't come in quite as many numbers as the Fighter, but they are faster, stronger, and have more power so don't underestimate them!!!
This is the MOST DANGEROUS of all the TIEs. This one has shields, dual lasers, and, like the others, is faster than you-know-what. This one doesn't come in many numbers, but with it's manueverability and speed it takes a long time to get rid of these things. The problem with their pilots is that if they get hit once or twice, they fly off and recharge their shields, then they come back and hit you as hard as they can, and then run again. Be extremely carefull with them.
