We had a friend over watching a U.K. basketball game and the ground was covered in snow. Our son was in his walker at the time and all of the sudden I saw (and heard) a ball of different colored light bounce through my door which had a glass window. It went straight through the glass and I heard it hit the wall in my living room.
I looked at my husband and our friend and asked "Did you guys see that?"
They did and we still cannot explain what occurred, can anyone?

This sounds like ball lightning. A rare but documented occurrence which scientists are a still at a bit of a loss to explain. For a long time ball lightning was discounted as a delusion but there have been too many reports. I have heard about it affecting aircraft and ships but not in houses and I am not sure about the sound.
Part of the strangeness with ball lighning reports from planes is that it travels slowly through the plane, this implies that it is either travelling at about the same speed and direction of the plane (highly unlikely) or it is generated by the plane somehow.
